Ball watching at first goal, fecked up offside at second goal. Looked nervous most of game.
At OT when we need to attack he is always liability.

Just awful decision to keep him one more year.

He was ball watching for the first goal, and broke the offside for the second. With better decisions he could have stopped both of those goals.
The first goal is on Onana. Onana has foundational flaw as we shave seen for so long.

I agree and don’t get why De Ligt didn’t start in his spot (perhaps I missed something)

He's been here six years, we know what we're getting by now. He'll always be inconsistent and for what he gives, I think it was a missed opportunity to easily part ways this summer by exercising the option.

The ball fell kindly for Mateta. You can't defend a ball about to hit the post. Mateta didn't even have to react. Yoro could have easily defended the second goal if he tracked his man. I would still have De Ligt over him in the middle though.

He was terrible, he's now back in the "mediocre defender who can play well below that level" phase.

Harry can do no wrong. Besides all his teammates, i blame retrograde Mars for today. It was a typical "don't interfere if someone else can get the blame, and just head/kick the ball away if it comes my way" performance that would have been lauded if not for these two unlucky moments when he found himself in a spot of bother.

As the only defender in any position to mark the only attacker in any position to do anything if the ball fell kindly to him, it was Maguire's responsibility to deal with it. Instead he did literally nothing. And maybe Yoro messed up for the second goal, but the cardinal sin was breaking the offside trap, which Yoro didn't do.

Not only is he defensively suspect, but he also gives away possession of the ball too easily when under slight pressure, causing turnovers. He often clears the ball out of safety instead of taking a touch or aiming for his teammates either through passing or heading, which has caused unnecessary loss of possession.

Sadly, De Ligt is just as bad in this regard and doesn’t help when neither of our CBs have quick recovery pace.

How?? :lol::lol:
It was him who literally fecked up offside. I got WUM warning when i wrote similiar post about Hojlund.
There was multiple mistakes to even get near our goal before either. Doesn't surprise me so many are quick to blame him though, seen it all before

"Near our goal"? The through ball for the second was played from the halfway line and Munoz would have been well offside had Maguire not been five yards behind the rest of the defence. Blaming him for the first is very harsh, but trying to say he wasn't at fault for the second is simply absurd.

The 2nd goal came from a shocking pass from Zirkzee turning attack into defence and Palace bypassing a non existent midfield.

So? By you, when striker or midfield or anybody loses a ball, defender can say; "feck it, not my concern".

His job is to defend. And he is doing bad job. Every single game at OT he is all over the place. He can play only in system when team defends deep. Any other system he is complete liability.

Blaming him for the first goal is incredibly harsh. Second goal-yes we’ve seen that one before.

He’s a good defender normally but recovery pace and positioning is always going to be a problem.

Yeah thats what I said.

He's been comfortably our best defender this season. It's annoyed a lot of people like you who are desperate to blame him for all our woes but it's a fact.

It is not the fact. How is that a fact? Guy fecks up goal every game.

He was poor today but he and Martinez have been our best CBs. Best of a mediocre lot sure, but I fail to see how playing Evans and Lindelof more often would help. If you're talking letting him go last summer and then buying a new player then we didnt have the money, unless you didnt want us to sign a wingback now and our fullbacks as wingbacks have been infinitely worse than our CBs playing as CBs. So regardless if Dorgu is the right player, or cost too much, we needed a wingback. We signed 2 new CBs in the summer and they havent been any better.

Seems to wind some posters up that he simply isn't good enough. Even if you believe "he's been our best CB this season", that bar is very fecking low. He was shite today, not sure how that's even up for debate.

I can ignore (not forgive) his involvement in the two goals but feck me was his passing/heading atrocious today. Head it as far away as possible and boot it forward as hard as possible. So many lost opportunities to keep it down and pass it to a team mate. Pretty much all the ball progression came from Martinez and at times a very poor Dalot.

Needs replacing, he wasn’t good enough when we wanted to sell him and he’s not good enough now.

We need to settle on a back 3 and work on getting a relationship together, Maguire should not be part of that.

He did track his man, and played him offside. Maguire was far too slow to do the same. How you can lay the blame on Yoro for that play is baffling.

Neither goal was on him.

I wonder if you would have said the same if de Ligt or Martinez would have been the one who played the Crystal Palace player onside. When Maguire played a Brighton player onside you blamed de Ligt for that, who will take the blame today so Maguire can stay free of any critisicm?

He’ll be 32 in a few months time and he’s not going to get any quicker. Admittedly he can ping an accurate pass out wide and he’s improved a bit and worked hard in training, but it’s time to move him on in the summer, he’s just not good or fast enough.

Embarrassing for both goals. Ball watching and not understanding what is going on around him.

You clearly weren’t at the game or even watched it on tv
