Recently he has done pretty well, i dont think Harry Maguire is a great player but he had been playing well recently. Last two games not that great though. Played Brighon onside for their goal last weekend but today was a bit of a throwback to meme era.

Started off with missing a basically unmissable header, did some braindead shirtpulling and stuff with the Rangers player in the penalty box that some referees could give a penalty for and then totally misses a header and gives Rangers a free goal. That all in 45 minutes.

I also do not agree with the idea that Harry Maguire is a great header of the ball. He is tall and he is good at putting his (large) head in the path of the ball when it is in the air but he is not actually good at the heading and placing the ball somewhere when he hits the ball with his head.

I know he's mostly been good this season.... but I can't help but just think he's a loser and will always be one. Bad things happen when he's around whether it's his fault or not

Also that was some horrid athleticism on display for their goal.

He hasn't been good, though. His performances have been wildly exaggerated by his fans. He's had some good games but he's mostly been nothing more than average.

I agree with that, he's not a very good header. His strengths is defending the box and offensive marking. His diagonal crossers on the wings are good as well.

He was fine today, was a mistake but will forgive him as he has been good lately. We should have finished the game off by then anyway.

He should have scored the header obviously, but he was literally shoved in the back before missing the header. Anyone who has ever played the game knows how effective a little push in the back can be.

Should have thrown himself to the ground dramatically and stayed down until VAR overturned the goal. That’s the modern way.

Get with it Slabhead.

Good in games where you need to do a lot of defending in general but that's it. Is one of those players that always has a clanger in him but thankfully the mistake didn't cost us the points.

Sure he messed up for their goal. But it has to be said that the push he got was on par with the one that ruled out De Ligt’s goal. Also a bit sad to see that all Maguire haters who’ve been lurking in the dark for a few months are back again.

He got a push in his back just when he was jumping though.
He did but he should be stronger, imo. You have to expect some physical battle with a striker and he seems to get moved way too easily in that instance. Unusual for him, I must add.

Feels like a delay of the inevitable. People spend more time exaggerating the basic things he does to compensate for the obvious criticisms.

He has been okay recently but I will maintain the same point - What exactly is the purpose of Harry Maguire at Manchester United?

Was decent before the error (should have scored that header too I guess).

Constantly heads the ball back across the box in those situations and we are either offside or don't have a player there.

Today we had a players unmarked and onside and he decided to go for goal

Every so often there will always be that one Maguire mistake. Its just part of his game. We've seen enough of him to know we just have to factor it in.

There's no point in getting up in arms about it. Its like complaining about Lindelof in physical duels or defending crosses. These guys have been here long enough that we shouldn't suddenly expect them to play like Alessandro Nesta or Rio Ferdinand.

It's not a foul on him and the first mistake it's to not keep his rival offside, that's the REAL mistake.

Later he miscaculated a very very long ball, shyte happens, yet being him, it's sthg that can be recurrent.
In any case, what he has to get tighter it's this stuff of loosing concentration when using the offisde rule to his benefit, this is not his first episode in such regard yet also Amorim keeps changing names in the backline to actually get better and automatized such stuff, making such automatisms is harder to get with constant changes in formation.

Slabhead gonna Slabhead. Have to tolerate him slipping on a few banana peels to get an Arsenal performance now and again.

No matter how "well" he appears to be playing, he always has these mistakes in his locker, which is why I'd like to see him only be a back up cb for the remainder of his contract.

He’s the one Id sell if anyone. Stock high despite some brain dead errors and we have cover for his position.

He's just an average defender who sometimes plays above or below this level. It will always be a massive mistake the club paid that much for him and made him such a high earner.

Funny how he is celebrated as a footballing case study for mental resilience and determination and then subsequently, after a bad game, dismissed as an overhyped average player. Got to love our fans!

He can be mentally tough and an average footballer at the same time.

Do we though? Take him out and as soon as one of De ligt , Yoro or Martinez get injured and we are scraping the barrel.

Thought he was decent again last night, the Rangers goal could be attributed to him but definitely looked like an arm in the back, similar the the reason De Ligts goal was chalked off.
Solid, unspectacular, led the line well, not a lot else required from him really.

Bad mistake for the Rangers goal. Dissappointing from him at this stage of his career

That said overall its interesting that he has joint 2nd most interceptions per 90 in the premier league. Tyler Adams of Bournemouth has 2.8, Billing also of Bournemouth has 2.5 and so does Maguire

So most of the time he's reading play well and cutting the ball out from the forwards

The ref clearly established that that sort of incident is a foul earlier in the game when he disallowed our goal. Thus, in this game of football, it was a foul.

2 arms in the back pushed him to create the space.

I’d bet we would be disallowed for that.
