For me Maguire is a Pallister/Bruce hybrid..

A towering presence and comfortable on the ball like Pally,

brave and intelligent like Bruce.

I'm putting a £20 on him to score next game - hes overdue.

Pally and Bruce - Im getting misty eyed just thinking about those pair. Pallys freekick against Blackburn, world class. Try telling the kids today, they wont believe you.

In my whole life i was not so wrong about one player. Just wanted to say that. He has flaws and i know that his lack of pace will piss me off next season again but he is class.

It's a shame his consistent brilliance in in the league for us (& hull & leicester) for the past few years didn't make this apparent, but, sometimes, it's easier to watch and rate a player through an opposition lense.

The backstory to that free kick is wonderful.

every single outfield player had scored for United that season (hopefully I’ve remembered that right!). Then we get this free kick in injury time, and bloody Gary Pallister steps up. Utterly ridiculous.

A grass cutter, curling the ball around the keeper. Brilliant free kick.

with his arms aloft in the air like a giant, everyone can read his lips as he shouts “fecking beat that!”

absolutely brilliant. One of my best football memories.

What a defender, classy player, his composure is sencond to none, not the quickest but he makes up for that with his positional awearness... We need Varane to compliment his abilities, i believe with them as a pair we'll win the Leauge.
Is Real Madrid buying Maguire?

He's looking very good at the moment. Looks fired up after a period of time out, maybe the rest is what he needed.

I hope he starts scoring for us too, did for Leicester and continues to do so for England.

Once again very good game.

He's a top level centre back. We just need to get him a proper partner and a decent GK

Your obsession with him is weird at this point.
I've already replied but this post is so strange I have to say more.

Our captain, who also plays for my country, plays brilliantly and it's weird that I like and praise him? What?

Why aren't you saying the same in the Shaw thread? I praise and defend him just as much.

Really hope we get Varane. But hopefully, after watching this tournament, people will realize what we have right now ain't half bad.

It's half bad, half very good. But I do remember when he got injured and we were back to Bailly and Lindelof. Varane in, Bailly out, another up and coming centre back if we sniff a decent deal somewhere before the window shuts.

Manchester United fan is happy his player does well: your obsession is weird
@Amar__ seems to have a problem with me liking English players.

Last year, after I said Grealish would be a better signing than Donny, he said I only thought so because he's English. Or something like that.

He and Stones are the best pair in tournie, so far. Both great passers, and great defenders.

You praise him no matter how he plays, and are first one to praise him tonight, mentioning captaincy even though he really isn't great captain material by any means. Altough I do rate him from this year as a player though.

Looks imperious. Not sure why, but he makes me feel a lot more secure for England than he does for United.

Maybe because he has a partner that can actually defend rather than just being there.

Look at the shite on display this tournament. There aren't a lot of top class centre backs around. Lindelof is one of the better ones. Varane, Maguire and Lindelof is a great trio.

He's a fantastic captain, and plays brilliantly more often than not so of course I praise him.

His only poor form in two years here is the beginning of last season and that was due to the whole Greece incident.

We don't do that here.

Good to see Maguire getting good due respect, very good CB for us from day one bar very few games.

Just shows that we have to upgrade Lindelöf, it would improve us so much.

Agreed, man. I thought you would defend your countryman at all cost. But it's not really easy to find a clear upgrade on Lindelof. The available ones are hard to get.

That header is what I expected him to do on regular basis for us. Maybe next year?

That interview was class as well. Well done our captain

There you go

I seriously don't want to turn this into me hating Maguire since he's just had excellent season for us, but you just proved my point. Have a great night mate!
