Overall a good game but what the hell did he do at the goal? Totally out of position which made it very difficult for Lindelof and AWB who were left 2 vs 3.
You are really laughable how you try to drive your agenda. It's a shocking missed clearance from Lindelof nothing else but I doubt you will be posting in his thread today other than praising him for otherwise good performance. Does your friends take you seriously? You are a sad story.

There’s no agenda. Maguire is my favourite CB in the whole PL and wouldn’t want to replace him with anybody else. But as most others have noted, he often drifts out to the left and lose his position in situations like this. Lindelof should absolutely have cleared that pass- to save Maguire’s poor positioning.

Fairly confident that it was Lindelof that had a routine tap out clearance for the goal, rather than Maguire being at fault.
Yes he should have cleared that, but there is no reason Maguire is not in place to defend.

I really like the defensive screening and blocks he does. His defensive job has been brilliant recently.

I'd say Lindelof is more at fault, than Maguire. Maguire didn't have a guilt edge chance to clear it, Lindelof did.

Lindelof recovered and had a good game, as did Maguire to be fair.

Maguire has been excellent in his 2 seasons here.

Yes agree and I don’t k is why he always moves out to the left so much. In this case there was no reason at all and it cost us a goal (even if Lindelof should have managed to clear it)

Also agree about Kane. Both Maguire and Lindelof shut him down very well today.

if you see the replay, Pogba didnt get back to cover the space infront of Ndombele, which forced Fred out to press the ball, Shaw was out on left flank to confront Aurier who was high up, and Maguire was marking Moura who came inside, which means Lindelof comes out to cover Kane & AWB tucks in (Rashford was supposed to get back here to cover the space behind AWB), Maguire was late to follow Moura who ran into Kane's pass, he probably thought Lindelof would clear it but Lindelof missed the ball, so Maguire was not out of position per se, but the team was out of shape in the phase of play which allowed Spurs to take advantage and we know Kane is excellent one touch passer and he laid it nicely to Moura who crossed to Son to score.

Thought he was too eager to win the ball today which often lead to him misreading the ball.

Thought he was ok but he and Lindelof have had better games.

Agree, it’s more on Lindelof however this is Maguire’s thread. A d I think this is a little bit of a weakness he has, that he drifts away from the centre and leave, like in this case, 3 attackers for the Lindelof and AWB to handle.

Yes it was a little bit of a chain reaction where we were always a bit late because of being out of shape. Maybe you’re right, and with some better help from the midfield, who were totally absent, Maguire could have gone in to the centre instead. However I still feel he should have prioritised the players in the box. Always easy to look back however. He often saves us when he pushes forward and clears the ball.

Anyway, we won the game and our central defence did not concede three goals like Spurs.

Thought his passing today was absolutely superb. Couple of mistakes, but overall a great game from him.

Best passing from Maguire for a long time. A couple of super passes threaded through for Shaw to run onto.

Defending wasn't so impressive. Needed Henderson acting as a sweeper keeper.

He was very solid imo again, very confident and determined performance, just had the ball bounce terribly for him in the Kane situation but that happens. Once he get a partner who doesn't leak goals game after game we will see even better from Harry too imo. Right now he's too eager to defend for two, just need a reliable partner who can defend too..

Thats unfair on Lindelof who, overall, has been fine this season.

That being said, if there's someone who we can bring in who will be a guaranteed better CB, then I guess Ole will be look into it.

that’s what happens when you play a higher line and be more aggressive in your defending.

having your keeper sweep up behind you shouldn’t be seen as a negative, it’s just a necessity if you want to be dominant in possession.

do you say the same when ederson does the same 4 times a game?

That's a really bizarre take on the use of a sweeper keeper. In order for United to play a high line like we should, Henderson should be there to sweep.

Improving and maturing with each passing game.

He will never be fast as a young Rio, as good on the ball as Sergio Ramos or score as many as Van Dijk but he is a very solid centre back who doesn't too often let a striker get the better of them.

Yeah I felt like he played like a bit of a numpty at times and looked like he was in for a car crash performance from the first two minutes. Kept going miles out of position and getting caught. I am thinking that Ole possibly wanted the defenders to be aggressive with Kane as at times Lindelof seemed to venture well out of position to challenge with Kane as well.
just seemed to make some weird choices at times.

He's 1 yellow away from a 2 match suspension. If he gets one against Burnley, we'll be without him for Leeds away and Liverpool home :nervous:

If he doesn't get one then he'll be fine for the rest of the season, as the suspension rule applies up to the 32nd game. Unless he somehow picks up 5 yellows in the last 6 games (totalling 15) which would give him a 3 match suspension

Would be tempted not to play him for that game tbh. I think we can win without him.

Hes having a great season after the dodgy start (but that start affected the whole team, but him more so)

Would be lunacy to play him in the next game with the yellow card risk. He’ll always have flaws to complain about but glad to see him establish himself, he’ll clearly be a key figure for the next few years.

Definitely. He must be more than ready for a rest by now anyway, even without a looming suspension.

He was in the same position the last time we played Burnley (with Liverpool next) although it was only a potential one game ban at that point.

Thought we missed him today. Any decent balls to the box, we struggled massively. Just shows how critical is the Captain to this backline. We should find someone who is decent in air as a backup to him.

Big decision now on Ole whether to start him tomorrow or not. Burnley are danger in the air and we'd surely miss him but still think we can hopefully beat them without him. Protect defence with Matić and McTominay in front of them, just save Harry for Leeds and Liverpool ffs

Why not? He didn't play midweek and we don't have game midweek. So he will end up playing 2 games in 2 weeks.

I think he’s more needed vs Burnley than Liverpool.

Man Utd 3:1 Burnley
I’m sure the Harry apologists will be all over me again but that was just awful. He might as well not have been on the pitch for that goal, just allowed Tarkowski a free header.

He's back to Mr. Timid Harry. Not one complain to the ref, despite our players (and him-fecking-self) being assaulted.

Terrible defender not helped to be fair by this insistence on zonal marking. Proof that we will never challenge for the title again until we go out and buy a property world class defender because Maguire is clearly not that

Struggled in the air against the tall Burnley players. At fault for their goal from the corner.

Wish Maguire and Lindelof could play at a far higher tempo. They take so much time out of the game, sitting on the ball, doing nothing.
