Harry Kane

Has talent. He had a poor last couple months in the prem and did not score for England in the u21's either.

Let's see how he handles next season. We would be foolish to spend 40 mill + on an unproven prospect now.

if they were smart they could get Hernandez + benteke plus pocked 5 million. I'm sure they're not smart though. Firstly Kane might pick up an injury and he might not get as many goals. So I'm sure they would reject but it would actually be a good deal for them.

Yeh they probably would be better off with a deal like that. Or if not Hernandez they should take one of our other 'disposables' :Nani, Evans, RVP, Rafael, Januzaj (on loan or permanent).

They could come out of this with a few great players but knowing Levy he won't even listen to offers unless we break the bank.

I'm going to go one out and say i'd sign him if i was United. I know there's the possibility he could flop, but that's the same for any high profile signing.

Didn't score for under-21s but not for want of trying.
In the last game England were awful but he was the only one trying and looking likely.
Was very unlucky not to score in the tournament.

 that would be epic, after the bitterness when we signed him from gooners they would put a contract on him if he joined spurs!!

There's always the January transfer window if we're struggling for goals & he has a good first half to the season. Might have to pay a mid-season premium but they'll want crazy money for him regardless of when he goes.

I don't think he'd cost more or less then, carries on as he is and he'll demand the same £60m or whatever dickhead price Levy deems apt

If Kane gets to the halfway point of next season carrying the form over from the last, £60m won't look quite so mental.

Yes it will Nick. That's an obscene amount of money for Kane; given who we could buy that's been a proven, cultured goal-scorer for a serious number of years..
But he's done it in PL which is worth like 10 times more.

Don't get me wrong, £60m would still be too high for Kane.

If Kane were to have a storming start to the season, up to January, £60m won't look as crazy as you think it might.

They played a 2 week long 'post-season' tournament in America, i think it was, that was pretty much straight after the season ended which i dont think Kane played in as he was with the England U21's at the time.

But yeah, playing their first proper pre-season game tonight is bonkers.

Yeah why have they started their pre-season so late? Their next game is on the 4th of August against Real Madrid, then they have another friendly (TBD) the day after. Spurs having to play a game 3 days before their game against us can only be good for United.

I remember Spurs had two 'post-season' games. Last one was on the 30th of May.

Spurs are the lastminute.com club. Transfers. The stadium has been talked about for god knows how long. Even last season they we're winning and drawing a boat load of games in the final minutes.

If he has another season like he had, and Rooney has another like he's just had, we'll probably go big for him next summer.

Please no.

I rated him well before he become the next big thing. But hes only had one good season, and it was not even a full season.

He is a good player could become a excellent striker for years to come but he has not done regularly yet, and to bank on potential, for 40m we should be looking at the kind of talent Rooney or Aguero possessed before moving to a bigger club.

Definitely. If he has another great season, we'll probably go all out for him regardless, unless Rooney absolutely eclipses him.

Spurs play their first preseason game tonight.

We've already played in Malaysia and Australia (not counting some later Spurs XI matches, all-played behind closed doors, and featuring lots of youth players). But these were played very soon after the season ended, so perhaps technically these are counted as post-season and not pre-season?

Whilst I'm not advocating signing Kane, last season he showed far more than Rooney did when we splashed £30m on him.

Kane did play - and scored goals in the 2 games.

But it's not really bonkers for two reasons. First, the overall 'down time' (in which players' fitness declines) will end up being the same as every other club, because we carried on playing and training long after other clubs had stopped.

Second, it means that after tonight there will be no more long-distance travel, because our remaining fixtures - against Real Madrid and (depending on results) either Bayern Munich or Inter-Milan - are only in Germany. This in turn has maximised the amount of time that Poch has/will get to spend with the squad at our training centre ... which is what he specifically asked for and is why the long-distance travel/touring was front-loaded.

We won't buy him until he beats us next sat :(

He scored more goals, sure but there is absolutely no way you can say he showed what Rooney showed. Add to the fact that Rooney broke through at 16 years old and many said he was one of the best youngsters in the world with potential similar to Messi and better than a young Ronaldo. Obviously he never quite fulfilled this huge potential but he definately showed a lot more than Kane has so far.

No he didn't. Sure Kane did have a good season, but he was their main striker. Rooney didn't play nearly half was much as Kane and was still very raw.

Kane couldn't score at the U21 Euro Championship. Rooney tore up at Euro 2004, was in the team of the Tournament and scored 4 goals.
