Harry Kane | Real willing to prepare world-record £200m bid [The Times]

He'll replace Ronaldo, not Benzema. As in, he will be their principle source of goals. They'll change their system to accommodate him. Rightly so.
Then who will play on the left for them? They need both a Benzema and Ronaldo replacement soon and Kane will only solve one of them.

Given the rate of transfer inflation since then, £200m is arguably less in real terms than what we got for Bale.
Neymar just went for around 200 mill. He's the third best player in the world. 200 mill is more than a fair price for Kane.

Spurs fans here said no chance he'll leave in the summer. I believe them.

He only went for that due to a release clause.
Yes, it was the release clause, but it was seen by Barca as so preposterously high a release clause that no one would touch it. It was more than double the previous most expensive. transfer.

MetLife hosts two NFL franchises, in the US where the NFL is obviously considerably more popular and valuable, has hosted the Super Bowl and countless other sporting and non sporting events. It also holds 82k verses Spurs 61k(?) in the new stadium etc etc.

Over how many years are you expecting this £400m deal to be?

The MetLife deal is $17m - $20m per year, so the $450 figure you've cited for 25 years relates only to the top-end figure. More importantly, it was signed 7 years ago ... things do move on you know, especially given Prem football inflation since then.

You didn't answer my question.

I am very glad Sanchez is joining us but I am very surprised why Madrid didn't go for him.yes he is 29 bUT he will be a proven sucess and will easily score 30 plus goals for next 3 to 4 seasons for them. I think they missed the trick here. instead of chasing hazard they should have gone for him and he would have been a better fit than hazard. Also, he would fit perez''s profile of selling shirts and being a super hit in south American market.

I was just pointing out that it was a false equivalence. The same players would not be available to these two clubs for the same prices. The two clubs have two completely different expectations and pressure, meaning mainly that it's harder to find players who can perform for Madrid, than Spurs, where the one club needs to win and compete for major trophies, the other not so much. And no, I'd say Madrid with 3-4 meagre additions will create more frustration in the fanbase, but for Spurs, they'd be strengthening. Madrid - given the expectations at the club - need to acquire 2-3 elite players, + address squad issues. But I'm being pedantic. And I don't think Kane would go for 200m. In this market, it's a bad deal for Spurs IMV.

And how would they afford to do that if they spent £200m on a single player?

30 league goals? He has only ever broken 20 league goals once.

Well, I suspect they'll look to offload underperforming stars to sugar daddy clubs, which means, Ronaldo to PSG, Bale to whoever, maybe even Benzema could fetch a price.

Might be more realistic to see Bale go to Chelsea + cash for Hazard, than as part of a Kane deal, as Bale would have to accept a huge decrease in wages...

Beckham, McManaman. I make that four. Ever. You made it sound like it's a regular thing.

4 more than we have stolen from Real. You can argue specifics all you want, the point is the best talents in the Premier League should be playing for United, not Real. Woody should step in.

I answered it another post: 20 years.

So your stance is that Levy would never sanction the sale of Kane for £200m cash because it would jeopardise the negotiations of a deal potentially worth £20m per year? That makes no sense.

You make it sound like the player has no choice in the matter. What if he prefers Real? Woody should say f*ck it and kidnap him?

Never said league goals. 30 goals in all competition. He has the capability to score those numbers considering be reached 30 with arsenal last season. He would have got more goal scoring opportunities at Madrid compared to arsenal and would have relished that.

Who cares what Neymar went for. Spurs won't be interested in "fair" - this is not a game of cricket. Spurs will only be interested in what gives them a massive gain/advantage ... and £200m in the prevailing circumstances doesn't provide that.
