Harry Kane | Real willing to prepare world-record £200m bid [The Times]

Something of the Rooneys about his physicality. Just a hunch. And I didn't say washed up. I was referring to his use to an undisputed giant of world football like Real Madrid. Then he could go back to Spurs.

What is this rubbish? This is pure wummery, your comparing Kane, physically to Rooney? Utter garbage .

Trailblaze it...

Be the first out the gate, land the big bid, very public. Say 180M. Sit back then and watch the chaos unfold. Tippy toe back in with another large bid to outbid the current highest bid. See where we are then! If nothing else we ensure he goes for mad money and makes it more difficult to have the funds to buy the quality around him. Not impossible just that a rethink might be needed. If all else fails we end up with Kane.

Its a total swing to nothing but if the best players are available. We have got to be bidding on them. Statement of intent is needed.

Won't work if Kane doesn't want to come here. We tried the same with Bale and failed.

He's a lumbering round shouldered guy de mauppasant by nature. Not saying he shares the same physicality as Rooney, but there's something trooping the colour about him genetically, an indication in his early peaking manhod that it cannot last into his 30s. Like I said its more a hunch, but come back in 4 years and if he is still calendar year top scorer in Europe I'll spot you a donut.

You think Kane is lumbering and round shouldered? What are you on about? Kane has clearly worked increadably hard to get the shape he is in, I doubt if Rooney enjoyed a day in the gym in his life.

Big admirer of Kane but he runs like he's halfway to falling over. No pace either. These are the factors which degrade the ageing forwards efficacity. You still believe Kane will be getting 35 goals a season in 4 years? Not. A. Chance. You've clearly been on the post workout purple heart sherbert creatine cocktails with your gym chumsters.

Ok so Kane has no pace but that will degrade in time? He runs like he's gonna fall over? Rock solid arguments you have there, in 4 years time he will be 28. It's more wishful thinking than any footballing knowledge, comparing him to Rooney made that pretty obvious. There is absolutely no reason he won't be performing at the same level. I have no idea what ur talking about with the bit in bold.

It was all "Kane was a one season wonder, aww lucky he had 2 seasons, oh well it's a lucky 3 seasons". Now we're moving onto "awww he will be washed up by 28". Priceless wickerman argument.

As I said ITS JUST A HUNCH and my hunch is logically stronger than your reasoning.

If thats that you need then sure .
God bless you inlevyitrust. I'll always defend you from those who meanly claim Spurs are a house of cards about to crash and land in a new stadium that will never ever see silverware.

To be fair, you never said it was a hunch. You seemed pretty certain that he will decline as a player before he turns 28.

I think Kane will continue to be a 35 goal a season striker for many years specifically because he's not reliant on his pace. He is strong and powerful, he's certainly not slow and he is a clinical finisher. If he stays in the PL for the entirety of his career, I see him threatening Shearer's record.

Whether he will stay in the Premier League for his entire career is another matter.

Edit: You did say it's a hunch earlier in the thread, but in the post I quoted you seem pretty sure. The "Not. A. Chance." part in particular.

Not following this Rooney Kane comparison. Kane doesn't seem the sort to let his body go like Rooney. Think he'll be scoring into his early 30s if he's injury free.

They are polar opposites, Rooney relied too much on his natural talant. Kane on the other hand has had to fight and train from a very young age. He is clearly hitting the gym hard, no hes not massive but he strong and powerful. Kane doesn't drink during the football season and has a chef who cooks all his meals, its dedicated to be the best player he can possibly be.

If Rooney had done the same he could have very well been on the level of Ronaldo or Messi.

It's bizarre how City haven't come in for him. But he doesn't strike me as a 'Pep Guardiola' player.

No one has come in for him, the reason is pretty clear, they know that right now Kane is happy where he is and the premium would be too high. If Madrid wanted him in the Summer we would be hearing ALOT more noise from Perez and the head turning would be starting. When or if the time comes Harry wants to leave, then you will see the bids.

Its the only reason that makes sense, no big club would want to be told by a player "no I am happy where I am right now".

He’ll give them one more season in the new stadium and will then leave after that in search of honours

Then we should be afraid of failure in future? No, of course not. We bid high and early get the whole thing moving. Let the chips fall where they may!

No free rides.

Agree with the approach. I was speculating on the chances of success. Kane doesn’t look like a player who would switch Tottenham for us. If he goes, he definitely goes outside the PL.

He has been exemplary for a player of his pedigree and status. It’s almost too good to be true.

United fan I was watching the game with said we would have been better off buying Kane for £145m then spending that same amount on Lukaku, Matic and Lindelof. I thought it was silly at first but he had almost convinced me by the end of the match.

He would improve our team immeasurably. Push us on to the next level.

I get the impression that Harry Kane hates United and would never agree to join us even for a million pounds a week. I just can never see this guy in a United shirt.

Think, if anyone does go in for him, we need to match it. Whilst I'm not in the 'Lukaku is useless' camp, we can't let a player of his quality go anywhere else.

I'll say it again. Best striker in the world.

Masterclass tonight and didn't score.

A masterclass?
His hold-up play was good (against a pair of defenders who shat their pants), but his finishing was awful. Not sure how you define masterclass though.

I don't think United would have got him for £145m even before the Neymar bid. We need to stop assuming Spurs would just sell at the drop of a hat.

Also even with Kane tonight we would still have been shit because our midfield would have remained wide open.

Despite him not scoring, everything else was spot on. Proper strikers performance. Watch the game again.

They will if they dont make the Champions League this season and he hands in a transfer request.

On the contrary, I actually think he would have loved to be at United. We've got Lukaku though and Levy would not sell to us, but I've always had a sneaky suspicion that he would like to be here. Call it a woman's intuition....
