Harry Kane MBE | Performances

I think Tottenham's strongest links are their full backs and Dembele. Kane is just a part of their game.

If he wins another golden boot after being out for 2 months it will be an incredible achievement!

How is his overall play poor when his overall play largely dictates the result?

His influence on the Spurs team is extremely understated. It's no coincidence that when Kane's off, the team's off. He drops deep to get the ball and is always looking for one of his teammates to pass to. He's always involved in the build up to a goal or a serious chance.

His lack of pace is overstated. He's not lightning quick but he's not slow. He has great last minute acceleration and a decent sprint (take a look at his hat trick in the FA Cup for the most recent example of this). He doesn't need pace in most cases because his positional awareness and anticipation is top notch. It's hardly luck that he always happens to be in the right place at the right time - it's awareness which is INTELLIGENCE. It always mystifies me when people say Kane isn't an intelligent player when he clearly is.

-He doesn't lose possession often
-He's a better dribbler than people will try and have you believe
-He's not amazing defensively but he's not poor

I actually have a hard time determining a weakness in Kane's game because I largely think he's decent/good/great at everything.
The problem is that Kane hasn't performed well against United and that massively clouds judgment here.

I remember how English fans would routinely write off Ibra with the same kind of criticisms now levelled at Kane.

I'm not saying Kane will ever have that final bit of polish to be in that bracket but you can't ignore the fact he scores goals and rarely plays badly. Two good feet, good in the air, more clinical than most other forwards in the game.

Will need to leave Spurs if he wants to win things though.

I don't see him in City's setup personally, so him replacing Ibra at United wouldn't surprise me at all. Which would annoy me given I took him reaching 260 PL goals last year at 100/1.

Injury looked serious? Dr. Teddy Sherringham said he could be out for two months because he has injured the same ankle before.

I obviously don't wish injuries on players and it's sad but really if I'm honest I'm happy if you all know what I mean. That could be the difference between us getting top 4 or not. Obviously I hope he's firing again next season but if he will be injured then it's only good for Tottenham's rivals.

Gutted to see him injured. We have had pretty bad luck with injuries this year which makes what we have achieved so far this year into perspective. Fingers crossed it's not as bad as it looked and he is just out for a couple of weeks.

Spurs have some decent fixture between now and the Arsenal game on the 30th of April, so they should be okay.

Alli and Son have goals in them, while Eriksen can chip in with a few. Maybe Janssen will find some form now that he's off the mark.

That'll be a massive blow to their CL hopes, can't see Janssen stepping up.

Think it will mostly be Son upfront tbh, just slotting in for Kane. Janssen on the bench still.

I've read some of the articles, not sure where the 2 month things are coming from? That's about how much he missed last time and the club are saying its less severe this time?

Hope to see him back a bit earlier than two months really.

I heard more likely 5 weeks as it is less damaged..... suppose they will know more in a month when he starts putting a lot more weight on it

Its all about the defence now. Get Rose back, keep the other four fit and we'll keep on picking up points.

Though in fairness, all of Alli, Son and Eriksen are in good form.

He's wank. They're better off using Son, or Alli up front with Sissoko on the wing.

Woaaah there, let's not get crazy. Let's just keep Sissoko behind Poch on the subs bench as much as possible please.

Also, this international break has come at a very very good time for us.

 terrible waste of £30m. Was he a Poch signing or a Levy one? Either way I'm sure the transfer gives tight-fisted Levy nightmares.

It is so out of character for us that I can't imagine it was a Levy signing. Which means someone (maybe Poch) has convinced Levy to finally abandon his usual transfer policy....and it was on Sissoko! He'll never do it again now.

The circumstances looked like a panic buy imo.

Spurs needed depth yet couldn't identify/buy anyone earlier in the window. I'm guessing Poch/Levy's thought was, 'do we spend the money on this guy, who's obviously available and ended the Euros on a high (but doesn't really fit our needs/system) or do nothing?'. Sometimes you just need another body and unfortunately for Spurs lol, it was a £30m expenditure.

Without Kane, I'm confident we'll beat them in the FA Cup. They were the last draw I wanted. Toughest team we've played this season. It'll still be tough but at least we'll have one less serious threat to actively worry about.

I have you as slight favourites, but I think we match up quite well against you, and it should be a close game that could go both ways.

I hope for a good game and no injuries.

He was bought because we didn't expect Winks to emerge so strongly. We needed a CM, Sissoko was excellent in the Euros and we made the mistake of buying a player based on an international tournament.

To be fair to Sissoko he's barely played to be able to find any rhythm and that's down to Harry Winks making circa 35 appearances when we were probably thinking less than a dozen.

I think there's merit in that. Whenever Dembele was out last season, we struggled a bit for physicality. If both he and Dier were out simultaneously, big problems, even if the likes of Carroll and Mason have other talents.

This season, we have Dembele, Wanyama, Dier and Sissoko as powerful players, on top of what else they bring.

He's not a cm though. He played mostly on the right for Newcastle, for France and has done the same for us.

Hopefully, he'll find himself emerging in China next season.

Interesting, yeah maybe he was thought to be someone who could bring more of that physical presence as well as being able to carry the ball. Still don't think it's a good buy.

If he is here next season, do you guys think he could do well as a wingback in a 3-4-3 formation?

The Sissoko signing makes a lot more sense if you look at the end of last season - when Dembele was out, Spurs were missing a physical presence and got run over at times. Also, Spurs really struggled to close games last year and dropped points as a result - in part because Dembele tires over a full 90 minutes and in part because there was no muscular bench option with pace to bring on and keep the pressure up. Given that Spurs targetted two powerful midfielders in the summer (Wanyama and Sissoko) it's pretty clear that Pochettino saw that as a major weakness in the squad and wanted to address it.

And yes, Sissoko hasn't been a 30m player at all. But he has been a valuable bench piece - he's played in 17 PL matches with most of those appearances coming as a 2nd half substitution to help close matches down and he's done well in that role. Spurs are 11w - 4d - 2l in those matches (37 points from 49), and in not a single one of them have Spurs dropped points from a leading position. He comes on, he presses hard and brings energy and physicality off the bench that Spurs have not had before as an option.

He's a good bench option and as long he's happy with that role, it's great for the overall squad. I don't know that he will be, and he's obviously stupidly expensive to fill that role - but he is doing it well.

Could return tomorrow. Managed just fine without him winning all three games.

My days, I thought it was a lot more serious of an injury. Tomorrow is a pretty critical day. If Bournemouth can get a home draw against Chelsea and Tottenham win at home its down to five. Plus the bounce of having kane back is positive.

In reality I know the race is over but still.

Wouldn't start him if he isn't 100%, something I doubt he is, but would be a great player to come on if we need him.

Wasn't he supposed to be out for the season? What the feck

Poch says he can start tomorrow. Welp, that screws up my fantasy team again.

The tabloids were saying he was out for the season before he even had his scan ffs.

Just the regular British press nonsense.
