Harry Kane MBE | Performances

No Eriksen is a big issue for Spurs.

Kane is an excellent player, but he needs top creative players around him to really thrive and imo Eriksen is the only top tier that Spurs have.

Looks like unless Eriksen signs a contract extension, it could be one of those average years for both of them.

Did the lack of Eriksen make him have the first touch of a desk yesterday, when 1 on 1 with Ederson?

Scored his 149th and 150th goals for Spurs tonight.

Between him and Icardi are the clinical strikers in the world currently.

His lethal finishing is classical of him. However what is very impressive to me is his ability to control a lot of difficult balls that 90% of players would either not attempt or butcher. Every time he looks like he’s mishandled a ball he’s actually still got it under control. Impressive. It’s a clear sign of someone on the absolute top of their form and I worry for the dips in form when players still pass him that difficult ball thinking he can handle it... or maybe I’m still suffering from the Lukaku

I think that's just what he's like as a player. He's always looked a bit awkward and clumsy even though he knows exactly what he's doing. It's the reason why some people were still calling him a one season wonder after smashing in goals for three straight seasons. At first glance he just doesn't look anywhere near as good as he actually is.

Kane has already had a dip in form...in fact most of this season (and even the WC), I think he's looked quite a bit off his best.

He still looks it if I'm honest but he is getting back up there again now.

He still has 11 goals and 3 assists, not too bad if that is a dip in form.

His all around play has not been nearly as sharp as you would expect from him at his best. The fact that he still has 11 goals and 3 assists and hasn't really hit any consistent form is more a testament of just how good of a player he is more than anything else.

Personally think he hasn't looked fully fit for a while, everything he did looked laboured and slower than expected but he seems to be coming out of it now.

Him being at Spurs is hardly a case of others not wanting him. His last contract makes it pretty much impossible to get him and I doubt he doesn't know it

Agree, the only time I see him contemplating moving is if Spurs miss out on CL for a couple seasons.

If Poch leaves Spurs, they slip out of the top 4 for a season or two. Maybe he would agitate for a move?

Understandable with Spurs trajectory at the moment he is quite happy staying. CL, new stadium, consistent top 4's. Great manager and team.

That and the cost would be astronomical, arguably the best striker out there. English, Levy tax, model professional. Still only what 25-26?

Would dearly love to see him finish his career with zero medals.

Very effective goal scorer, but that swearing on his daughters life (or something like that) in his desperate quest to finish top scorer makes him a bit of a self centered twat in my eyes.
And against Croatia, a simple square ball to Sterling would have wrapped up a place in the final, but his play had "I want the golden boot" written all over it.

see where you are coming fro but then again for hi to go that far perhaps he really felt he was telling the truth. Only he knows if he touched that ball or not. Saying that, he's a top-notch striker and I for one would really love him at a bigger club club than spurs; he's such a classy, graceful striker the likes of which I haven't seen in years. I really can't think of many English strikers with such skill, grace, eye for a pass, goal, and bringing others into play. United had van Nistelrooy- a goalgetter par excellence, same as with Andrew Cole, Solksjaer... Liverppol had Torres, Michael Owen, Chelsea had drogba, City have Aguerro, etc, but I think maybe Suarez could be said to have had the all-round game this Kane fella has. Even on the continent he's being talked about in glowing terms. I think rival teams are hoping there's a fallout somewhere so they can snap him up

@Scroto Baggins - he turned 25 during the WC. Always surprised at how young he still is. With the way he looks after himself, he's got at least 5-6 more seasons at the very top of his game.
With that being said, he's likely entering his prime years now and will be even hungrier for trophies.

Even if he quit today he would go down as one of the best. On track for another 20+ goal season, what would that be? His 5th season in a row? Who was the last to do that, Henry?

Sure he isnt going to blaze past a defender with his pace, score rabona goals. Or slalom by a defender with a Ronaldinhoesque trick. But his all round play is superb and he puts the ball in the back of the net. Which is kind of what you want from your main striker.

Indeed- apologies to Henry from me from leaving him out from my lists but I reckon even Henry must know if Kane stays injury free for a while yet, he may overtake him easily in many facets of our game

Was he even highly rated when he was younger? Feels like he turned up out of nowhere in 14/15 and suddenly started banging them in. I sure as hell didn't know him before the 14/15 season.

He was in the England youth set-up. He won Millwall young player of the year when he was loaned there. Fans by and large thought he was crap. Villas Boas wasn't interested in him and he refused a loan to stay at Spurs and win his place but AVB overlooked him even though Kane claimed he was killing it in training. AVB was sacked and Sherwood put him straight into the first team and he hasn't looked back.

Was considered technically good, a Sheringham type, but seemed to lack the X factor that would have earned him hype as a youngster. Still does to be fair, just good at everything.

I think he had a good goal scoring record as a youth team player. And scored goals wherever he went on loans, but as stated people thought he lacked that x factor. Which he kind of does, but when you can find the back of the net like Kane can x factor doesnt really come into it.

I thought he got a callup to the 1st team because he was being played in the Europa league and tearing it up? Spurs fans?

He was generally considered to be a PL talent, but likely not at a top club and probably not as a pure #9 either. Something like Connor Wickham's career is what most fans and "experts" were predicting.

Anyone, even the mod die hard Spurs youth fan, who claims they saw him turning into one of the handful of very best #9's in the entire world and possibly the all time leading PL goal scorer is lying out of their ass.

He was originally a second striker, wasn't he? I remember he had a couple of uneventful loan spells.
