Harry Kane MBE | Performances

If he carries England to win the World Cup and finishes with the golden boot, will he get the Ballon d'Or?

Absolutely clinical finisher. He is a top class striker. Taking a second penalty in the same game against the same keeper is extremely difficult but there was never any doubt he would score.

Saying that, if that penalty was awarded at the other end, the striker would be villified as a cheat in the British press. It was a blatant dive and the ref was incredibly gullible to fall for it.

Yup and such penalties really piss me off, even if Sanchez hadn't blocked him he wouldn't have reached the ball.

Kane initiated the contact and hooked Sanchez with his leg so he would fall over him. It was clearly premeditated after the ref had just spoken to them. Clever from Kane, gullible by Sanchez and poor by the ref.

Thought he was mediocre yesterday, on the fringes of the game for the second half and extra time. Stepped up when it mattered but never threatened in open play.

You were watching a different game to the rest of us then. He was the best player on the pitch by a distance.

I thought he was pretty average, he was playing deeper when Vardy came on and did nothing. Never looked like scoring from open play.

Good penalties though.

He's a good player but yet to actually win anything, or put in a decent performance in the CL knockouts or International tourny. He has time to change that though.

He's the typical over rated, over hyped English player. It's worse though as we've so few high profile players at the moment. All the hype on him.

Vardy came on in ET, by which point Kane had a knock... Pretty harsh to judge on that 30 minutes, when he was very good for the processing 90...

I really disagree with you about that. He had a chance to score from open play but his header just went wide. Which wasnt really his fault as it wasn't really that easy to take.

I liked his work rate and mentality in the second half and during the penalties. He seems like a true leader for this england team. Who know how far they'll get.

I wonder if you'd call him overrated if he played for your lots.

Sorry but you are talking complete cobblers

How can anyone say he doesn't want to win anything? Obviously bollocks and WUM stuff that.

Agreed he absolutely wants to win but he currently wants to win things at Tottenham , I have no doubt he is ambitious and if Tottenham fails to meet his ambitions he would certainly make a move in future.

He's one of the best players in the world and he's staying at a club that doesn't win trophies.

How is it wumming?

Spurs fans are an embarrassment as usual. Thought the scousers were bad enough but this precious bunch takes it to the next level. I guess that's what you get for being a nothing club and finishing third in two-horse races. Two league cups in the last 27 years and they're acting like they're some sort of elite in English football.

This is a Harry Kane thread. Keep your boring WUM for the total dirge that is the Spurs thread.

Nope, was watching the same game. He was pretty non descript the whole game, neither playing as a 10 nor as a 9.
His link up play consisted of playing back to the defence rather than any cutting passes.
Lots of bottle but little output last night, hell even Hoddle was praising him for a simple free kick out wide!!
Give me three moments that really shone from his performance last night over say Maguire, who was by far and away the best player in the pitch.

Thanks for proving my point in an instant. Pointing out that Spurs don't win trophies regularly, which is completely true as they've won two in the last 27 years, is being met by WUM claims.

People questioning Kane's appetite to win trophies at club level are well within their rights to do so when you look at Spurs' recent history. So feck off using that pathetic WUM strawman every time someone doesn't share your opinion.

Stop being so precious about your club and maybe every Spurs related thread on this forum wouldn't get so toxic.

Blimey who stole your teddy bear? Keep twisting everything if you want mate it's cool. Let's hug it out.

This is basically Harry Kane with no service. Has to rely on penalties and set pieces to score because those behind him are complete planks. I can't actually remember one good ball into space for him despite Colombia playing a defensive line near the middle circle. He was regularly in midfield because there was no midfielder willing to take up the right positions.

It was a very captain like performance, doing everything he can to help the team.

So the penalty incident.

Kane and Sanchez are holding each other, then as the kick is about to come in Kane pulls Sanchez out of position and runs around him before being fouled for the penalty.

Am I wrong believing this is a foul from Kane? I don't see why he should be allowed to pull/move a player out of position physically and put them off balance any more than defenders should be allowed to pull an attacker down.

Penalty all day long. Sanchez got himself tangled up with Kane by being too tight/hands on. He's then behind him and proceeds to jump on top of him while the ref's watching. Idiotic move.

It’s a penalty, but Kane definitely knows how to win a foul. He did it several times all over the pitch yesterday. It’s good centre forward play, make them have to foul you to stop you.

He's constantly being a tad overrated IMO, but can't really relate that to no desire to win things.

He's under contract with Spurs and considering he's Levy's golden goose it would be hard to snatch him out for other teams, unless it takes stupid amount of money.

So far I'm not really impressed by the way his 6 goals were scored - 3 penos and one the ball hitting him rather than the other way around. What I've been impressed is his mental toughness and concentration level to get most of the situations.

4/4 penalties scored (including the one in the shootout). Some people may call it luck or whatever, but he is showing nerves of steel! None of the keepers who have faced his penalties has come anywhere near them!

So you don't think its a foul to manhandle someone out of position? Do you think its a foul when defenders do it to attackers?
