Harry Kane | "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

There are some rumours that Levy and City have almost agreed a Fee. They are only 5 Million £ apart. ( Rumoured Fee is 115£ Million )

I wouldn't be overly concerned about this. I'm sure United are monitoring the situation as we speak, perhaps even preparing to make preparations to prepare a counter bid?

Anything is possible at this stage.

United haven't competed for the league since SAF retired and Chelsea are up and down all the time. Their last title win came in 2017. We have one title in 31 years and can't match the other clubs in terms of wages. City look like the most likely to give him what he's after. He'd probably be a bigger star at United.
Put Kane in our side and we would have been up there with City imo. We are waxing lyrical about 34 yo Cavani, imagine what Kane would have done.

United have a young, hungry side on the up. Just the incentive needed for a player looking to win trophies with his next club.

Kane, Greenwood, Cavani and Rashford is equal to any frontline in the prem in my opinion.

If he wants trophies now, and soon, he will go City. Its clear.

One thing underestimated about Kane is how he gets/wins the ball and finds Son. Cavani with Kane would have a field day.

We should also consider that we have no good striker (apart from Cavani, who might have one or two good seasons left in him). Let's say we sort out our CB and midfield issues. But we'd still need a striker to win the league. How many strikers like Harry Kane or Halaand would be available when we need them?

If a world class striker is available, we should buy him, given there are no great CBs available anyway.

My point is for the Kane money you will get a Varane, Rice and maybe even a Sancho. 3vs1 with the 3 being the positions we are more in need of. Which will have the bigger impact.

Haaland won't go anywhere this summer so there is still a chance (not that I believe we could get him) to battle for him next year. Also in another couple of years I honestly believe Greenwood can be just as impactful as Kane as a striker, different player but he can get goals for fun.

I don't know if anyone listened to Sir Alex's interview with Gary Neville, but he mentioned Kane as a player who he would have loved to manage the most. No doubt in my mind Kane would already be a United player if SAF had still been our manager.

None of the clubs mentioned are going to hand Tottenham £120m for Kane so something is going to give this summer. It's got Gerrard to Chelsea vibes this.

? we had a deal agreed for gerrard
the only reason it fell through was cause he shit his pants after his own fans threatened his family

If city get him and Messi, it’s game over for a couple of seasons, both in the league and in Europe. I hope Barcelona don’t feck it up.

Who says you can't buy success with money. Look at City, throwing till it sticks. We tried and failed like they did at the beginning, but unlike them we do have risks associated with big transfers and pay a price for it when things go south.

City, well. Unlimited. Puts Liverpool's PL win in higher estimation.

Possibly but I think you have other areas of the pitch you need to improve on. Fernandes and Rashford, alongside Cavani have contributed a lot this year. Greenwood has as well. Goal scoring haven't been your problem.

It is very good but I don't think goals are your issue. I also have my own personal doubts you'll ever get there under Solskjaer. You're on the right track and yes Kane is a massive upgrade, but City are winning things now. I think they look like the best option if he wants the best chance of success.

Fascinating Transfer Window podcast today.

1. Utd have told Kane representatives that they will make up the £18mil in lost bonuses that kane would have to forfit if he has to hand in a offical transfer request to force a move. Utd would put that £18mil ontop of his signing on fee over the duration of his contract. Utd are club most advanced in talks with kane representatives.

2. Kane told Neville on the 'overlap' podcast that he wants to break Shearer's PL goal record and isnt really interested in going abroad at this stage.

3. Joao Felix is on the market. City priority is Felix over Kane. Felix fits Guardiola style better and is younger (21). City tried for him before but he went to althetico. This could mean the options for Kane narrow down.

4. Aguero has a deal in principle with Barcelona. However it will only happen if Laporta cannot land Haaland this summer. Laporta wants a statement signing and is hell bent on haaland. Has the credit line to make a deal happen, which would increase Barcelona's debt obviously.

Haaland is not going anywhere this summer, I think Watzke was clear once CL qualification was secured.

If there’s any truth to 1 and 3, awesome. Pinch of salt though.

Think Kane's representatives have been quite clever so far in how they have played this in the media. Kane basically set his own price in his interview with gary neville when he said levy wouldnt get £100mil for him in two years time.

Personally i think he will have to put a formal transfer request in and levy will drag the process out for as long as possible. Which isnt good for any of the parties concerned but levy's ego.

This idea of ‘guaranteed trophies’ is a red herring. He wants to complete - nothing is guaranteed. I think he would be happy to go to either of the Manchester clubs, Chelsea or dare I say it Liverpool. Only 3 of those clubs can afford him - all 4 are a significant step up from spurs.

I agree that only 3 can afford him, but his destination won't be Chelsea because Levy won't sell to Chelsea.
Thus, if he joins another Premier League club it'll have Manchester in it's name.

cocks out time ?

He'll go to City mate. We'd be better off snaffling up the young stars ready for when Citys best go over the hill. Sancho and Rice this season, Haaland next. Players whod be in the team for a decade. We've already got a good core of young players in place.

I haven't seen any odds but I reckon Kane must be well below evens to break Shearer's record now, with him likely joining City

Yeah just saw his interview with neville and he said he'd love to play with de bruyne when neville asked him which one player would improve his game.

Imagine being 4-0 up against Burnley and you hear over the tannoy:

Substitution for Manchester United, number 9 Harry Kane for number 7 Edinson Cavani.

World Class.

If he signs a new contract at Spurs he'll look an even bigger mug than Gerrard did for not leaving when he had the chance, at least he had the excuse of being part of a very dodgy web full of crime and intimidation.

I think Spurs have competed. They've finished in the top two of the Premier League, reached finals etc. They consistently fail to get over the line. City have a consistent record of actually getting over that line, more so than any one else does.
Which is why he was happy to stay at spurs. Spurs no longer competing = go to a club that is. I.e. maybe us. van Persie did it, and succeeded. Maybe Kane sees something in that.

He could sign an improvement on his existing contract if Levy simply won't sell until he has a year left.

Levy will somehow yield to the pressure but Spurs could have a lot riding on Kane being there right to the end. It's difficult to see Spurs competing very soon but Kane will be very important if they can bounce back.

We aren’t competing though, there is huge difference between a Man Utd-team a few years ago under Sir Alex and the current team under Ole Solskjær. If you want to compete and automatically win things, United is not the place to be honest. City would make a lot of sense and I wouldn’t begrudge him for making the move, it must be very fun to play as a striker under Pep and with de Bruyne feeding the chances. At City, Kane has the potential to score 1:1 over a season, I wonder what his Fantasy-price will be.

We aren’t competing though,
See, this is where I and the caf in general seem to have a massive schism in our views. We were literally top of the league this calendar year, and we've got to every semi final you can imagine in the last two years - if you can defend going out in a semi final as anything, that's 'competing'. We beat Paris St Germain and Man City away from home.

Yeah we are FAR from perfect but I said a few years ago if you replaced Lingard with a much better 10 we would become an extremely good side - and we did that with Bruno. If we add another player of his quality in any position on the pitch - but specifically among our front 3 in my opinion - then we will be an even stronger competitor if not a champion level team ourselves.

Basically sums up Sky and the general football media for me. Have been trying to sell Kane for years and they are frothing at the mouth now it might happen.

I don't think it's the same though. I'm not a fan of Gary Neville (neither do I dislike him), but your season is pretty much over after the loss v Villa. You can still get Conference League place but don't think you really want that. Your season is pretty much over and our wasn't close to end when there were Raiola/Pogba comments and there's some comments from Raiola all the time, it's been an issue more or less since he came, while Kane has always been professional and don't think he or his agent ever created any drama at Tottenham.

I still think this interview with Neville shouldn't have been released before season ended, after Leicester would've been more convenient moment but still better now than few weeks or months ago.

Its double standards mate, pure and simple.

In truth, I don't think Kane would be the ideal signing given the shape of the squad right now. I'd go for Sancho, a partner for Maguire (Varane preferably) and Frank Kessie.

Also, I have a sly feeling he's going to fail when he leaves Spurs. That's nothing more than a gut feeling though.
