Harry Kane | "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

if you were Kane and were considering Utd, you'd need guarantees there's further investment in the squad this summer. He wants to win trophies, but we need a fair amount of investment to get there so there'd be no point Kane joining us without signing another 2-3 starting players, if we can commit to that i think we'd be in with a shout of getting him, if not he's City-bound without question.

That's a hilarious first bid reported by us.

That feels like a "We know you won't deal with us but need to offer something so our fans don't call us idiots for not at least trying" type bid.

Watched the whole thing with Gary and I kind of agree with the others, he might end up at Cityeeh.
But props to him for wanting to step up and actually win something.

This just sounds bitter I suppose, but going to City isn't really a challenge is it? It's just an easy choice for him to finally win something, or any player really. Daft money, guaranteed trophies. Fair play to him, it's a smart choice, but there's nothing noble or worth praising leaving Spurs for arguably the best team in Europe. I've just seen people say he wants a new challenge, not really on here but elsewhere, and it makes me laugh.

He wants trophies, not a challenge.

I imagine Spurs fans must be all in some sort of Pogba/Raiola rage at this press tour.

Kane, Haaland and Sancho. City will be busy this Summer.

The latter I totally agree with. The supposed gentleman’s agreement with Levy doesn’t hold water. It’s business and Levy will hold on to the contract details not a tenuous verbal agreement

I do believe there are cases of so-called gentleman's agreement, when a player and the board/owner are on good terms and when the player is given an assurance of a certain kind, the club then keeps the promise and lets the player go if they're satified with the offer. It happened with Ronaldo leaving MU for Real and Hazard going to Madrid years later. In both cases Real made a bid, was rebuffed but the players in question were asked to stay on for another year with assurance they'd be allowed to leave the following summer and both clubs indeed kept their promise.

I'm not sure those kind of verbal non binding agreements work with Levi though. But what really surprises me, is that after all we know about Spurs chairman, why would a world class talent sign a long term contract and not add stipulations in it, in case you'd decide to leave after a couple of years? You might say, the club would refuse to include that, but then you can just stick with the old contract and wait for when it's just a year left and tell Daniel you're happy to test a free agency. Why tie yourself down for years and risk turning yourself into another case of Modric or Berbatov?

What was the bid?

At least you've thrown one in. We'll be preparing one whilst Kane is on his way to City's first training session.

While we're also trying to persuade Southampton to part with Ings for 42m

Kepa tammy and I assume cash.
He wants trophies ASAP he's sucking off de Bruyne. This story is already written. We know where he's going.

Let's hope to sit back and enjoy the struggle and not being in it for once.

If it all gets done at 87m and some fringe player it'll be infuriating.

He's only 25. Had 6 seasons at Utd, 2.5 of which were under a manager who didn't fancy him and didn't start him much. In the other 3.5 he's done quite well in 2 seasons and been shite in one. Players react differently to different environments, Lingard at West Ham being a classic example.

Look I'm not saying Martial would be a world beater for you, but I still think he'd be a decent enough signing for Spurs. I get it you don't fancy him and fair enough. Let's just leave it at that :)

Yes. We should all convince Tottenham to take the lazy git Martial with or without Kane.

It's obvious, this deal will happen. Kane will be a City player before the Euros. We need to focus on getting our transfers over the line. Sancho will be our marquee signing surely.

Why is it obvious?

Yeh, hes off to City or staying. Christ he's name dropping them and their players.... and lets be fair, and i dont mean to troll here, but right now if you are leaving spurs and want trophies and your choice is utd or city, where are you going? city

Yeah I think that's exactly what will happen and we will join the race for Haaland next summer when the release clause activates, feels very much like we will be closing this thread in the next week or so which is probably a good thing

Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold said just now that Nuno is not a candidate for the Spurs job.
ah fair enough. Still, seems a bit convenient dont it. I still reckon NES, Martinez, Sarri, Potter, are the level they will get.

They arent getting Nagelsmann or ten Hag obviously, which they thought they actually had a chance at?! or Allegri, or Conte etc

They're looking at tier 2/3 managers

How dare you!

Neh you’re right ultimately like someone said he wants trophies and not a challenge, hes done a challenge. Time for trophies.

hahah its not a dig, It's just most people would suggest City are more likely to retain the prem next year, than Utd win it

And thats maybe Kane's thinking, too.... the name dropping of KDB and City just says it all tbh

Spot on, even if I am offended he didn't say Bruno.

Yeah he knows where he's going and expect this to pick up pace when the season ends

I can kind of understand Spurs fans turning their nose up at Martial, but honestly if he can rediscover last seasons form or the way he played against City he is an asset.
I think the problem with Martial is his wage. He has talent and could do a decent job at most premier league sides but at 250k a week literally no club that would want him, could afford him. He isnt going anywhere.
No club is going to break their wage structure for Martial

Yeah that’s fair, is he genuinely on that wage? If true then whoever green lighted that should be sent to the shadow realm.

Kane wants guaranteed trophies so that he has some medals on his shelf before he's finished. City is about as guaranteed as you can get in England. No one else can guarantee success to the same extent.

I think he'll get 25-30 league goals easily in a City side with De Bruyne behind him.

This idea of ‘guaranteed trophies’ is a red herring. He wants to complete - nothing is guaranteed. I think he would be happy to go to either of the Manchester clubs, Chelsea or dare I say it Liverpool. Only 3 of those clubs can afford him - all 4 are a significant step up from spurs.

I think Spurs have competed. They've finished in the top two of the Premier League, reached finals etc. They consistently fail to get over the line. City have a consistent record of actually getting over that line, more so than any one else does.

Yeah he's already competed, this move is purely about finally getting over the line and he's going to do that by joining City. With him without him, they'll win trophies. It's not a red herring at all, he's gone close enough, now he just wants silverware. There's nothing more to it really.

He will win trophies at City, United and Chelsea.
United haven't competed for the league since SAF retired and Chelsea are up and down all the time. Their last title win came in 2017. We have one title in 31 years and can't match the other clubs in terms of wages. City look like the most likely to give him what he's after. He'd probably be a bigger star at United.
