Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

So you don't think we will have too much competition because bar City most will be interested next summer without a doubt
There will be competition for sure. Though I think that his preference will be to stay in the Prem. As long as we have a strong season, I'd assume we would be favourites.

Bayern chiefs in London to see if Kane can handle drinking a beer out of a giant Erdinger glass. Spoiler alert, he failed miserably and ruined his shirt.

It will really irritate me if he signs for Bayern. It’s such a sideways move for his career to go there and it just gets Levy out of a massive hole.

Stand firm Harry and remember how Levy messed you around 2 years ago. Dial it in for this season and break the premier league record at Old Trafford in 24/25.
Sideways move

Moving to Germany is backwards in a sense. However, more money and a chance of winning the Champions League evens it out. Still, not as good as signing for a top Prem side.
Bayern are as big as any club in PL. They may dominate germany, but Madrid and Barcelona dominate Spain.

Signing for Bayern is as good as signing for Utd or Liverpool. They are steeped in silverware and a history many clubs would die for.

Yeah that is very true unfortunately

I have a feeling United are working on a deal for Kane behind the scenes. Levy has to field calls and the public perception of a tough negotiator is undermined by the fact that he has sold players in the past. He’s just a complete and utter arsehole, but I think United would be foolish not to at least keep apprised of Bayern’s negotiations, as he’d probably prefer to stay in the PL.

It's true regarding how big Bayern are, I do wonder what this does for Kane. For years he's faced the criticism of not winning things and bottling the chances he had to do so.

I do wonder if he goes there and wins 3 German titles if people will still criticize him for going somewhere where it's an absolute tap in to win the league. For not going to Real where they at least compete with Barca and Atletico or United/Chelsea where he could be the catalyst to us challenging.

He almost can't win.

No, not for me. The Bundesliga does nothing for me. Bayern can compete for the Champions League, but so can we and the same goes for Liverpool (this season aside :)), with the added benefit of playing in the best league in the world.

But everything you said there is applicable to Real Madrid who are bigger than any club in this country.

La Liga is understandably seen as on a par with the premier league. Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are a step below and (currently) so is Serie A. Top players who aren’t German historically don’t sign for Bayern because it’s a dead end [edit - that’s a bit too harsh - not as attractive a league would be fairer].

Yeah I wasn't arguing against Madrid. La Liga is a very respectable league, though still not the Prem. Madrid are also a far bigger draw than Bayern.

But then that goes to show that you can have huge clubs even if they aren't in the biggest league. Bayern are absolutely huge globally.

How I wish that was true but our budget will be used up on Onana,Mount & striker. He was only remotely a possibility if takeover got done but leeches dragged their feet

Bayern is historically a bigger club than any of the English ones. Bringing the League's quality into the table sounds more like a coping mechanism.

Back on topic, is it possible to think of a scenario where Kane stays, Tottenham has a terrible first half of the season and a Transfer in January (maybe money plus Martial or Maguire) becomes a last minute viable option for Levy?

Yeah would love that to happen

400k guaranteed well paying job after your career is over, influence over Spurs dealings and the premier league goal scoring record. I reckon he stays.

Levy will still sell abroad. The only scenario in which Kane signs for United (before next summer on a free) is if he flat out refuses to go anywhere else, hence the discussion about the attractiveness of Bayern to an English player.

Wow, wait a second. Bayern is a giant club by all means but that he is bigger than United or Liverpool is a huge overstatement.
Those clubs are in the same tier. Tier A+

I didn't state that Bayern were not a huge club. My point was that I wouldn't consider going there due to the lesser quality of the league. You can play for a huge club in England and compete for the Champions League. That's a win - win that Bayern can't offer.

Footbal was created by the English but their players & clubs are seen by many to be overrated.

Which is fine but we are talking about an English player here. Do you think Kane thinks the English league and their players are overrated?

From the rumblings about Kane wanting to go to Bayern it seems he thinks differently.

He won’t be going to Bayern if there’s a race for his signature on a free next summer. He may be desperate enough to want to get away from Spurs that he will sign for them this summer.

Ehh, RM are football royalty but I don't really see Bayern as bigger historically than United / Pool.

Who knows, he might look at the fact City won't be interested and think he's unlikely to win a league title here meaning he'd still be stuck with the criticism of not being a winner. We have absolutely no idea what he'd decide.

Kane doesn't have that option available to him this summer. I might be wrong, but in a fair fight next summer, I highly doubt that he would choose Bayern over us.

I reckon it's probably closer than you think and a lot would depend on if we look close enough to the title that he feels he can push us to it. I know for a fact he won't want to end his career without winning league titles.

1. Harry isn't going to pressure for a move to United for multiple reasons. Firstly he's not going to pressure the club to go anywhere. He loves the club and with one year left his future is in his hands, he doesn't have to burn any bridges with the club he loves.

2. I know this is a United forum and your team is on the up but...if he didn't put up a big stink for City who are a much more sure bet for the top trophies than United. Sorry. Then he's not pressuring for a move to United. Almost your entire logic rests on that point and it's a very weak and never happening type of point.

Also selling Kane and reinvesting that 100mil will not put Spurs in contention for a PL title. Not even the most deluded of Spurs supporters would even think that. This season or the next.

I don't think you're wrong about winning things with or without him I just don't think people realize the revenue he generates the club. The offers being thrown around basically amount to even or less than even for what he generates. Meaning leaving on a free but getting a year out of Kane's play and revenue generated is still a logically sound move.

I personally agree about selling now and rebuilding. That said don't sell to a rival and don't sell for these paltry fees getting thrown around. Even with just 1 year left on his contract Kane is so far and away better than any other goal scorer any team could hope to recruit this summer. It's not even close.

Points well taken.

I think a lot of the leaks about a limited budget are posturing since we paid over the odds last season. The budget is likely £150 million. With some sales, we could be waiting to pounce for Kane if Spurs agree a deal with Bayern. Ultimately Kane will decide, he has all the leverage.

I think it depends on how much value he places on a Bundesliga title. It's pretty worthless to me, but I'm not Kane. In terms of the Champions League, we are capable of going just as far as them.

Myopic view, but its your opinion and thats fair enough.

No, it only started there in 1992. Otherwise Kane wouldn’t be competing for this oh so important record.

Kane needs circa 140 goals for the actual record. Unlikely but plausible. Appreciate it’s mainly in a weaker league but Lewandowski has scored 155 since turning 30.
