Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

Breaking Shearer's record... Yes, surely Kane dreams as a grandfather at family gatherings of turning on the blueray with a smile on his face and playing the visitors all the goals he scored. And then explain how they were great that season because they finished 7th, and then the next season they crushed the league and finished 4th...
All he needs is 2-3 statues in his trophy cabinet for winning the Bundesliga, another 2-3 for being the Bundesliga's top scorer, and no words will be needed. Not to mention Champions League glory (Bayern will be as strong as City with him in the line-up). Fans remember footballers from big games, from goals scored in finals, from trophies won. Not for dozens of goals that do nothing for their clubs.

Not gonna lie will be gutted if he joins Bayern but don't attach any blame to Erik it's down to those leeches over his head

The Mount signing shows what an obnoxious awkward cnut Levy is to deal with.

Just sell him to us you bald prick.

To be fair, if we were selling one of our top players we wouldn’t be jumping at the opportunity of handing them to our domestic competitors.

Wouldn't be so gutting if there was someone else on the market who could offer the goals

Yes, as evidenced by the obscurity that Alan Shearer has faded into.

I don't think he needs this record. Winning any of top 5 league (Bundesliga, La liga, Ligue 1 or Serie A) will make him more popular outside the UK. It's embarrassing that the guy has been shooting like a Kalashnikov for many seasons, and not even once was in the top 5 Golden Ball. For English fans he is already a legend cuz he has done a lot for the national team. England with Kane in the squad played in the 1/2 World Cup, in the Euro final, at the last World Cup they lost unluckily to the hellishly strong France. Do you think the Beckham generation, with Rooney, Gerrad, Lampard, Ferdinand, Nevilles, was worse than the current one? I don't think so, but it had a celebrity instead of a captain. Kane is a born leader.

Bayern has won roughly 1 CL per decade, let's not pretend they've a Madrid like record.
Absolutely fair enough, still better chances as they have double the top European trophies we do and have a better chance of winning ones in the near future.

They have a better overall record mainly due to those 3 in the 70s, they've won 1 more than us in Kane's life time, I doubt it'll be a major factor in his thinking.

I'd be shocked to see him go to Bundesliga at his age given how close to the record he is and also having to move his family abroad.

We have triple the European trophies Man City do yet that doesn't make us more likely to win one before they do. As for your second point - while I'd put them as more likely to win it than us, the champions league has a huge element of luck too. Chelsea were by no means the best European club in the two seasons they won it. Inter made the final and narrowly lost despite most claiming they had no business getting that far. Its not unfeasible we'd win it before Bayern next do. They're not Madrid who have this almost divine tendency to win it every other season.

The only thing guaranteed for him there is an annual Bundesliga trophy which Bayern collect by default at the end of every season. Its almost as vacuous as the Ligue 1 medals PSG players have.

I would not say they won by luck, they won by being really good defensively which we are not.

Eh? We were the third best team defensively last season in the league. With Martinez back and Poppadom hands Dave looking like he's left for good, I'd expect we'd be ok defensively. If anything its what happens at the other end of the pitch that has been a concern for us.

We are good defensively, good enough to carry us through a CL? Nah. I think we have a good back 4, but overall defensive play not where it would need to be to do what they did. We are not that structured compared to those teams.

Would like him here but I can't see it happening this season. If I were him and the options were available I'd go to Bayern for a few years, win some trophies then come back to a lower PL team and get Shearer's record. It would be an even more impressive feat to hold the record having spent time abroad

I could sort of see why he signed the last one. They had Poch in charge, Dele and Son were looking world class, they were beating the likes of Real Madrid and going far in the CL, playing good football, you could see why he’d want to stick around.

But what possible reason has he got to extend now? Spurs have declined massively, and even Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte couldn’t get them sorted out. He’d be beyond daft to extend now.

The most likely outcome is him re signing with them in my opinion
Even if he does, he can do it next summer and wait to see what's on offer. Unless Spurs give him 450k pw he's surely earning more with a signing bonus and "normal" wages at any other PL club.

Why would he sign it? Even if he intends to stay he can wait until end of season lile DDG and play with a full deck including an even bigger offer from Spurs. If he wanted to stay he'd have surely signed before this stage.

His only risk factor for not signing or leaving is injury but he'd still have every club taking a punt with big wages if he did get a major injury.

Him extending would be pretty funny but I don't think it's very likely. Spurs need to talk it up to get a good price though.

I don't know what you're on about.

You said that it's more important to win trophies because they make you more famous than being the the all-time PL top goalscorer. I countered with the fact that Alan Shearer, despite winning very little of note, is hugely famous, and even more famous than much more decorated players, and now you're asking me to judge whether the Beckham generation is worse than the current one, as if that's in any way relevant to the discussion.

How do you know that his aim is to be popular outside the UK as opposed to being popular in the UK, where he'll presumably live once his career ends?

If he signs a new contract at Spurs then Kane deserves all the ridicule he gets for a small time mentality, he’ll almost certainly break Shearer’s record as Spurs is built around him but Son looks like he’s declining too and the likliehood is Kane will never play CL football ever again in his career by staying.

Go in and make levy an offer that he cannot just ignore. It’s the only way you’re going to get him. It would take something serious. Also putting in a serious bid would get into Kane’s head and unsettle him.

if they can go all out for Mason mount they can do the same for kane. He is the singular Biggest signing the club could make this summer in my opinion. The most important signing the club would have made since RVP. Absolutely makes us competitive. Absolutely takes us up a level.

sell players to fund it if needs be. Atleast go all out for it early on. Try everything. If you don’t get him you got time to look elsewhere. Just try.

Kane will want to be Englands and the Premier leagues greatest goalscorer, I think. Can even see him seeing out the remainder of this year at Spuds and Utd putting in a £30 mill bid in January.

Why would he? There's nothing in it for him.
If he cares as much about the PL goalscoring record as people seem to believe, it's his best option. He gets to stay in the league, at a club where he's basically considered God, and nothing has to change for his family. It's the least risky option and I imagine it comes with a substantial payrise.

Or he could wait for a year and sign for us. That's a much better option.
