Half way through the season. How are you feeling?

I think this is the most pessimistic and grim I've ever felt about any United squad I've ever witnessed in my 30+ years of supporting. Not much quality, no cohesion and morale on and off the pitch seems to be at an all time low. The players look like they have no faith in one another's ability. We look unfit, slow and out of ideas. Amorim isn't going to get his own full team of players for several years so what he does now with the squad is anyone's guess.

After sleeping on this and reflecting on this, it's not really a shock where we are.

If we take the Manchester United name off this team and replace it with Everton or Southampton, what would we say? We would say:

- This team can't score goals.
- This team can't defend, especially set pieces. This team gives away too many cheap goals.
- This team is not very mobile in the middle.
- This team are not very creative in the middle.
- This team are very poor out wide. Whether we play wingbacks or fullbacks, they can't really attack and hinder us going forward.
- This team is very inexperienced in places, especially in the attacking areas.
- This team has a goal keeper who was brought in for his kicking, but he often resorts to lumping it up the pitch anyway. Questionable handling skills and shot stopping.
- This team is very poorly assembled. When this club sells an underperforming or expensive player, we have more often than not replaced them with another expensive player who underperforms. Usually worser quality than the one we originally sold in the first place.
- This team are very lazy and are consistently out-run and out-fought in every match. Their reaction times are very slow. Their ability to problem solve on the pitch is very poor.

If we take the Manchester United name off that team above and replace it with Everton or Southampton, we would say that's a team that's far closer to the bottom of the league than the top. Can this team get relegated? Absolutely. If we don't win games, we don't pick up points, and if you don't pick up points, you slide down the table. This team are poor enough where relegation is a possibility. We would ask how are these players going to win games. There is no magic code that we can insert into this program to get them scoring goals. They are individually very poor players, but are even worse as a collective as they don't have any cohesion to work as a team.

In short, bar a very, very small handful, they need to go. Until that happens, I don't know how we are going to win games with these players. We actually had opportunities to score last night (the Casemiro chance, the Hojlund chance) and both were wasted. It's very concerning, but not surprising as this is the culmination of years and years of malpractice.

I just can't bring myself to support these players, 95% of them are utter cnuts who have no business wearing the shirt.

It's like their afraid of stepping onto the pitch so completely freeze up when that moment comes, you can't act like Billy big bollocks driving flashy cars if you're shit at what you're being paid a fortune to do while I can barely afford to put the heating on.

Zirkzee crying about being booed? Feck of you oaf and learn to run a little then you might have the honour of not being booed by the extremely tolerant OT crowd.

Players can all go feck themselves and I hope they're all "feeling bad" in their multi million pound mansions with their super cars on the drive and their over inflated ego's, they'll probably perform better once their sold because United "treated them badly".

Cnuts, had enough of them.

Rangnick said we needed open heart surgery and they're letting Amorim do it,it's going to be a shite season but have a little faith.

Can't help but feel we need to take drastic action. Meaning wholesale changes to the squad in one window. Have a fire sale and replace as many as possible.

The approach of buying 3-4 every summer simply isn't working. The rot continues to spread from the old players to the new players. This even happens to players who are promoted from the academy. They start off strong before the inevitable decline sets in. Nothing changes at all and this has been ongoing for a decade. Perhaps danger of relegation is exactly what we need to drive that change.

The summer was yet another poor window. Ugarte has done well after a few iffy games, Mazraoui has been quite solid but Zirkzee and De Ligt are lemons. £72.66 million wasted on the latter two albeit Zirkzee's fee will be around will trickle for 4 years or something. Probably 3 years after he's gone.

my search history says it all;

33% pornhub
33% redcafe
34% samaritans

horny, angry and sad, in pretty equal measures.

Honestly looking at this team gets me depressed. Players are in basement of rock bottom when it comes to confidence, some of them probably just do not care too much, some other are paralysed. Which then result in them not being able to perform even on a basic level. But… it’s time when they have to get back to business. And honestly, I believe that they can do it, stop making excuses, start work, start fight.

The season at least the league is already lost, so for me personally it doesn’t make any difference if we finish 8th or 16th. Having this in mind I’d like Amorim to carry on trying implement his system… just do not get relegated. The FA cup, I would just get knocked out of it asap so they get more time to implement the system.

I would be probably more pragmatic in European League as this may be our way to be in European cups next season.

If you can't score goals and it's been like that for 2 years ? They buy a maybe striker then buy another maybe striker.. I'm not trying to go backwards but SAF would not have bought a maybe striker as the main guy..
I've mentally checked out with this lot and the last time I did that was around 1988 to 1990. .

We had better players in 88. This team is just awful.

Feeling pretty deflated. I went into the season quite hopeful and thought we had done decent business but it's all fallen apart.

Honestly right now I'm placing my blame on INEOS and the players. INEOS took the wrong decision in the summer to keep Ten Hag and forcing Amorim to join mid season has put him in a tough spot.

The players on the whole have been disgraceful. The lack of effort, fight, technique and composure is a joke for a team as big as ours.

The only players I'd keep without any question would be Mazraoui, De Ligt, Yoro, Mainoo, Ugarte and Amad. The rest I couldn't really care less if we sold them all.

It sounds bad but I'm really debating not watching the next few games as I can't stand the constant disappointment of the players not turning up. It's not even the defeats that hurt but more the manner of the way we keep losing.

Amorim was not the coach you hire to do open heart surgery mid season. He should of been hired end of season and let an interim take all the abuse until the summer.

In this January window we must make preparations for forthcoming windows where opportunities will be more evident.

We shall sell Casemiro and Rashford and loan out Joshua Zirkzee, with an option to buy. Harry Maguire may also depart, should an appropriate fee be offered, along with Bayindir.

We will then trigger buy backs for Alvaro Fernandez, Maxi Oyidele and Matej Kovar (Goalkeeper) and we will bring in, by way of a complicated loan deal, Osimhen.

I was anticipating a bad season but it's even worse than anything I could've expected. It won't get any easier either with our next two matches being at Anfield and the Emirates.

Even in some of our previous bad seasons there have been one or two bright sparks. No real redeeming qualities right now, the overall quality of the league has been pretty poor this season and we still sit in 14th. It's almost impressive that we've contrived to be this bad.

Exactly. And he is setting standards with lazy players. I am mainly pissed that the players dont fight and work hard enough. How can that be?

Do we want open heart surgery for 5 at the back though? Are INEOS the right people to guide us through something so important? That’s the thing that’s grating with me. I hate the formation and INEOS seem like arseholes and that’s never going to change. I like the manager but I think he/INEOS have already lost the dressing room and the staff and I’m now majorly worried. I didn’t even watch last night. It was predictable what was going to happen. We won’t be relegated but this is so grim. Lowest morale in the league by far. I can’t help but feel like this is the players way of protesting at the owners, the shitheads.

Luckily the Arsenal game is the Fa cup. We’ll suffer another loss against Liverpool and then hopefully win against Southampton. We’re desperate for points

I feel sad. You can only hope that this is rock bottom but there's a significant possiblity that we're not there yet. It's awful, supporting United is sad.

It won't do our confidence any good if we lose both of those though. We're already on a 4 match losing streak.

That kind of run could see even an easier fixture like Southampton become a struggle. Our players have proven that they're mentally fragile and Southampton aren't as open now Russell Martin has been sacked.

Numb now, apart from Europe or a cup run the season is finished.

The league is finished for us apart from rooting out the wasters, won't be many remaining if it happens ruthlessly and without constraints.

Be hard to remove these wasters because of their contracts and no body actually wanting them. Sad.

Happy New Year Everyone

Furious. We should've never brought in Amorim at this point in time. Either ten Hag should have been allowed to see out the season or at least Ruud should have. Amorim is getting too tainted now. Someone else could have taken the beating for him this season.

Is it going to work longterm? I have my doubts currently.

Arteta and Klopp started out poorly but turned it out after a few windows. Doesn't guarantee Amorim will follow that pattern.
Can anyone remind me how Arteta and Klopp more specifically did? I just remember them starting poor.

T00lsh3d in midfield, me in goal, that's a pretty quick improvement already.

If we can get someone else here to replace Zirkzee, we'll be on the up.
Honestly I reckon I’ve got a better engine and more physicality than eriksen. He’s obviously miles more talented with the ball but I reckon id do the defensive side better. That’s how crap yesterday was

I hope so but not Osimhen, another CF, maybe Gyokeres

I feel demoralised. I was buzzing when Amorim came in and was even more excited when I saw him talking about what he was looking to achieve.

Fast forward to a month later.. we haven't seen anywhere near as much progress as I'd expected. I'm concerned that we actually look worse than some of Amorims earlier games which I'm confused by.

I believe the boss needs to be held accountable to some degree with some of his questionable selections although his player aren't helping which must be incredibly frustrating as he's on the backfoot when trying to implement ideas because the majority are not talented enough.

I'm now worried about when our next win is and if we could get dragged into a genuine relegation scrap.

Cautiously optimistic.

I felt way worse in ole's last season, never felt more despondent towards the club than then, felt we were going nowhere.

Now mind you it's nor all roses and sunshine right now obviously but I have faith Amorim will improve us given some support.

Maybe a relegation is the only way to do a cultural reset.
This is such a bizarre non sequitur that people keep floating...

What does us getting relegated have to do with 'things actually improving'? What is this notion that we need to get relegated for things to improve?

The opposite is almost certainly true. We'll be in real financial trouble, our standing in world football would take a colossal hit, and many (including myself) may just lose interest in football entirely. This will certainly be a far less engaged community if we were relegated (for better or worse).

A bit like James Bond in Casino Royale when he's getting his balls whacked by that big rope.

I am pissed to be honest!
I am trying to wrap my head around the last year and I just cant make it make sense. I never thought ETH was the problem.... but it was evident earlier this year that the players were not giving him their everything.... so moving towards another manager was probably the right call... but the fecking timing is awful. If Rubion didnt want to come to summer, then why push him for an earlier acceptance? Then you dont back him in January when you know he doesnt have the players he needs? What in the hell kind of business is that?
The crap with Ashworth and the 6 month wait only to sack him 4 months after he was hired?
Casemiro's legs are gone and he is in no way should be on this type of team.
Rashford has lost a step.
Shaw is never healthy.
Mount hasnt been healthy for 2 years it seems
Dalot seems to have lost skill or is burnt out...
Erickson has skill, but not in this system.
I would move every single one of those guys out asap. and look to move towards guys that fit the system he wants on LOWER wages for feck sake. Overpaying non performing athletes is never a good model for success.
