Gun control

I posted the Hannity proposal not to have a serious discussion.
It was to show what sort of a toad is advising the orangutan.
It's always funny when Republicans say they are the ones valuing individual liberty in the US, unlike those statist, collectivist leftists.

Still, it's a fair point, I think.

That all women are crazy? You horrible man.

But seriously, women tend to be less likely candidates as far as becoming mass murderers or serial killers. Not to say it doesn't happen (Hello Karla, if you're reading this ;)) It may have something to do with their nuturing, motherly qualities.

Yeah, mate, I wasted my time disputing the obvious Rep distraction from gun sales being a major factor in the shootings.

I pointed out that while it’s true that prisoners make shanks, I’ve not seen a shanking spree led to 600 casualties from the 32nd floor of a hotel before.

Which led to...

“Um, there were over 20 killed and over 100 wounded by a knife attack in China. 3000 people died on 9-11 and no gun was used then either.”

I pointed out that it took 8 people to do that with knives, imagine if they had something else. Oh, and that 9-11 led to massive regulation of the air travel industry so it wouldn’t happen again.

They’ve not responded.

A community of locked up violent criminals the most secure environment? These people always find new ways to surprise me

Prisons aren't gun free environments.

3% of Americans own 50% of the guns. Good riddance to the x% of that 3% who refuse.

Yeah mate good luck getting a presidential executive order to send out the extermination squad. Of those 3% how many of them have carried out mass murder? And whom is going to kill those few tens of thousands people?
Unless the American government makes their society much fairer and safer, people are going to want guns.

Very common around here to see/hear folks say something along the lines of “it isn’t a gun problem, it’s a God problem. They’ve taken God out of everything and this is the result.”

As I said before, the way these people try to link everything to God is truly perverse and disturbing.

What gets me is that I humor their “corrupted souls” argument and say something like “well, if that’s the case, wouldn’t it be safer if we made it as hard as possible for possibly corrupted people to get their hands on those weapons?”

Answer: “If someone wants it they’ll get it regardless”

If mental ill-health is such a big factor in mass shootings...where are all the female shooters?

Or where are all the mess shooters in other countries. America isn't the only county that has people afflicted by mental illness.

Then why is it that the most secular societies also have the lowest crime rates and the highest standard of living? Those people are just painfully stupid.

And these people breed. Idiocracy is happening.

I was waiting to hear when video games would be blamed and there we have it . Wasn't the right to bare arms written just in case the bits returned?. America is a joke nation, a first world country with suspect ideology.

America is the only country with violent video games, mental health issues and falling church attendance, I guess. There surely isn't some other factor we haven't considered, is there?

Disrupted families - and the LBTQ people you have totally forgotten - and the invaders from Mexico...

Looking in other threads I found that again:

I love the point with the recreational marijuana... - I ask myself how many of the shooters took it before they started their shooting...

I bet America has the highest number of mental health issues in the Western world, to be fair, but it's not like that's an argument in favour of the gun culture.
