Gaming Grand Theft Auto V | 2022: GTA+ (monthly GTA Online subscription) announced exclusively for PS5/Xbox Series

Don't worry, I'm totes ITK.

If no info comes out on the 24th, I'll never post here again, but my neighbours cousins colleagues daughters boyfriends friend has never been wrong before

When the first bit of info was released, I expected the full game to be out this month.

I shalln't be going anywhere, it was a clear parody of ITK's, but I had heard whispers!

Well it's obvious that they were holding off releasing info until Max Payne 3 was launched, so as not to effect the hype for that game.

I deserve it all. Blame the conspiracy theorists.

One day when more info is released we can rejoice as one again.

In the meantime:

So what do we reckon the main characters going to 'be'?
We've had Miami mobster, LA gangster, Hitman. Getaway driver?

The voice in the trailer is 'Ned Luke'. Talks about being the good guy for once, retiring in LA. Could be an ex crooked cop, a bank robber or something, retired from the mob? Tommy Vercetti?

He might not even be the main character though, could be a young LA gangster, Spanish or African american perhaps.

There has been a list of leaked vehicles in GTAV, anyone want to see it?

Also worth noting, apparently between the first Red Dead Redemption trailer, and the next bit of info, it was 8 months, and currently it's just a couple of weeks short of that since the first GTA V trailer.

I can see them using LA differently this time round, maybe focussing on the more flashy side (but still seedy). Assuming that's the main character speaking, he says he bought a big house, which would fit with the flashier side of things. It's usually a rags to riches story though isn't it? So maybe that's not the main character.

How good do the mountains/desert look by the way?

True, I think they said they were focussing on money and the economy a lot on this game so perhaps you're right, perhaps he was a crooked banker or someone who benefits on the misfortune of others, I don't know.. something along those lines, maybe he goes from riches to rags and learns a lesson on the way.

They look fantastic, I just really hope it's a game I can not just appreciate whilst I complete it, such as GTA IV, or Uncharted for example, but a game I can play for years doing absolutely anything like the three GTA's on PS2. Nothing has ever gotten to that level on PS3 for me, perhaps with the exception of COD4, but it's not on the same level as those GTA's really.

I really think it has the potential to be that good, as IV needed all the development just to get the fundamentals right on the new generation of consoles, just like GTA III, and when you look at the leap from III to VC or SA, it's quite drastic and I think there are parallels there to suggest IV to V might be similar. Even though most (I think) would regard III as much better at the time than IV, that's really because it was ground breaking at the time in the whole industry, IV couldn't have that luxury so it was compared to the previous well developed PS2 titles.

If GTA ends up being released this year, I'd put it on a par with United signing Kagawa, Hazard and Modric for me, I just love it!

Yeah I can't wait. I love the build up to the games, R* have people eating out of their hands

Went to have a look for more info. It's amazing how desperate some people get about it! And some of gayest ideas to add to the game.

One person mentioned sports in GTA. Another replied with how little kids play football in Max Payne 3. The reply was
Really? That's awesome! Please tell me more about it, do they dribble while playing? Do they communicate with each other while playing, such as screaming 'over here!' or something?
Makes me wanna beat them to death with a giant purple dildo.

I occasionally browse a popular GTA forum, for any rumours, news and updates, and I have to say, it is the most ghastly gathering of internet warriors, Eric Cartman's, juveniles, rude and abusive despicable bunch of social outcasts I have ever encountered in all my life. Of course I don't attempt at any discussion there, reading is enough. One of the best things about being promoted here for me was somewhere to discuss GTA V that wasn't so crowded with such unpleasant people, but since then the hype died down a bit with no info so I haven't been in here much, I think the game just attracts all sorts of pond life!

These guys are absolute turds

I hope thay make your hair grow and beard, like after say 7-14 ingame days it would have fully grown(long hear and beard). This would make the game maybe more realistic or RP. This means you would have to wait to do certain hearcuts not like in SA where you walk in with short hair and come out with a afro

Male or Female character (male being able to buy and dress in female clothes if desired)

Bank Accounts, debit cards, phones with NFC technology to work like a credit card linked to your bank account

Ability to hire getaway drivers (like in Driver or The Transporter!)

Pay for the car naming rights I want a Lamborghini not an infernus people are only going to find a way to mod the game so they can have one so why not just give one from the start.

In the trailer we see a DJ deck, im a Dj myself and it would be great to go into a club in V and to see actual DJ's on the decks, maybe a rip off of deadmau5, like a man with a cat helmet instead of a mouse one, or maybe Tiesto but jumble up the letters so its not actually tiesto, or better R* could do what they did in IV with Ricky Gervais they could actually put Deadmau5, Tiesto, Skrillex on the game.

This isn't COD....

Add newer revisions of weapons. I mean having an AK-47 is fine, but add newer AKs such as the AK-12.

Also add more newer weapons overall, like the SCAR-H, AEK-971, AN-94, etc.

I'd love to see a Galil and an FN FAL in the game too.

Nice, having a full on SOPMOD M4 or SCAR that you can customise would be amazing. Not to the extend of COD or anything just basic stuff like being able to add or remove an AGOC sight, silencer and maybe being able to switch between an under barrel grenade launcher and a fore grip. Each could have it's own pros and cons, for example having the ACOG would give better accuracy over range but not having it means aiming it would be marginally quicker for CQB, silencer would aid stealth but reduce range/power and the launcher would obviously have the benefit of being able to blow sh*t up but having the grip would make it more stable so better accuracy. I wouldn't expect anything like this to be available until fairly late in the game but if one was able to add or remove attachments during a mission to suit what was going on would be pretty sweet and would suit both those people who want a bit more realism (i.e not having TARDIS pockets than can store like 10 guns) but also appeal to those who want to cause carnage with a grenade launcher and still be able to shoot their way through the police.

 Muppets.

I don't think the car licences is a money issue by the way, I think I read somewhere that car constructors don't like to see their virtual vehicles blow hence it wouldn't work in this game.

Anyway I wouldn't want it, many brands have become classics in their own in the series.

Its not just that, the entire game is satirical. I'd like to see a bit more customization for weapons and cars, but in saying that, I don't give a flying rats arse about brand names and the weapons from the ballad of gay tony were bloody good fun.

What I don't want to see is the level system from Saints row. If I want to to go and buy an upgraded ammo clip, I don't want to have to level up for it. I want to walk into the store and buy it.

Some of it is money, some of it is what you said.

For example the rights to Ferrari re held by Microsoft. Any non Microsoft game wanting to use Ferraris has to shell out to Microsoft for the right to do so. Ditto EA and Porsche (which is why there are no Porsches in Test Drive Unlimited 2 - they have to use the RUF's instead - and why there are no Ferraris in Need for Speed games).

Also to do with portrayal, which car companies are MASSIVELY anal about. For example, Transformers used to make a line of 1:24 fully licensed figures called Alternators. One of these was a Corvette Z06 (below). The license was almost pulled right before release by GM because they were concerned that the fact that the hood was in two pieces (because it had to split because of the way the figure transformed) would give consumers the impression that the car was fragile or easily breakable.

This is why you'll rarely ever see games with licensing letting the cars get as trashed as for example GTA4 or Burnout: Paradise.

Because apparently they don't want their customers thinking that if you powerslide around a corner at 180kmh and hit a wall that their car will crumble.

Go figure.

Spot on.

Too many people want GTA to turn into The Sims, or Gran Turismo, or Call Of Duty, I don't think they realise what makes GTA so great at all!

I'd like more character options than in the last one yeah. No way I'd want branded cars, that's part of the fun.

Some of them were calling for better policing, which is fine, but they'd go on to to say if you commit a murder and leave the body around then a SWAT team will close in on you.

:wenger: It's like they don't get GTA
It can't be too close to real life or it'll lose what makes it so ridiculously good

edit: Nevermind... turns out it says release date not set further down on the page... Why on earth would they not just leave release date blank? *perplexed*

On of the pages I use to order games and stuff has the release date down as 12th of August :o

Missed out on San Andreas, so I hope the speculation that the first game is to find their feet in the new console generation, and that this second game will be a tad more refined :)

I know I know, but my GTA needs have to be satisfied, I just played GTA IV for a bit but I think I need some V discussion, so what do we think is going on with this game? Secret delays? Explosive couple of months ending in a release?

What few things do you think they need to improve upon or add that were not in IV to make this a more successful or enjoyable game?

I have no clue what's holding them up. They might want to max out the profit from their other games (if any) before releasing new product onto the market.

GTA 4 was a fecking success, especially with the multiplayer aspect. The only improvements would be on the single player portion of the game. Improving the graphics, having more variety on the music stations, eliminating the side missions of going to the strip club... would improve it. Just minor things.

Edit: I'm tired of New York, California, and Miami. They should move it somewhere else, international. Now THAT would be a massive improvement.

Re-completed GTA 4 and the two DLC's/additional games.

Bored and waiting...

The next time anyone bumps this without new in-game footage, I'm going to start throwing buckets of puppies into the river . What's wrong with you?!

I hope this game doesn't become the next Duke Nukem, it seems like they're taking their time to show some new footage. Let's hope it's all worth it in the end.

I sometimes play GTA just to listen toe radio while driving through the city.

I agree it was a terrific success, it's easy to forget how GTA never really had a stand up multi-player system before IV (which was relatively solid), and the graphics (despite a few problems) are much superior to previous GTA's though it's easily not noticed when referring to previous GTA's in your memory only.

I tend to disagree about where it needs improving though, for me New York (Liberty City) is boring by nature, there is no variety of landscape and it is too small for a good journey. I still think there is life in the other city's though, and I'd say if the graphics are tweaked to the levels of Red Dead Redemption then they should be excellent too.

IMO the biggest area for improvement is to add some more fun in the single player mode. The contrast from SA to IV is huge in IV's favour in every category except fun for me. I completed the missions and found myself bored with nothing to do (a rarity for a GTA game) so I'd like to see that addressed so that GTA returns into the game that I complete, and then spend hundreds of further hours playing.

I don't know, maybe I'm used to New York, but I really enjoyed driving through the city, it would take me at least 5 real minutes to race from one end to the other. Lots of variety in the neighborhoods too, it wasn't just one slab of concrete. Don't get me wrong, I loved the open range of San Andreas, but Liberty City appeals to me as well. (Same reason I love True Crime NYC, a shittier version of GTA that has a GPS accurate rendition of Manhattan).

I'll definitely agree that they could spice up the fun. I have no clue how. After completing the game, most of the fun emanates from driving drunk, running up a 6 star wanted level, and joy riding. Gets old after a while.

I love Liberty City but there miles more scope with Los Santos & Vice City.
Los Santos can have the Californian countryside and desert surrounding it and Vice City could have swampy countryside etc. I'd love them to do a Vegas specific one too. With the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon in the surrounding area. Vegas has so many possibilities for GTA, parodies of all the hotels, casino heists etc.

A huge edition to V will be wildlife similar to Red Dead.
