Graham Potter appointed Chelsea manager

Was wondering when this would come up

I thought about it before Ten Hag became our manager - there isn’t a possesion based manager we can go for to continue a building of a squad under similar tactics.

When Ten Hag’s time comes we have to go for another possession based manager - and Potter is the only one i see.

If either howe or potter were to get the opportunity to manage a top 4 team I wonder who it would be or who would be first to do so?

I think there is something special about potter, he reminds me of klopp in the way that he makes players look greater than they are because of their system and when many of them move on they don't look at the same level outside of that manager's system.

I think considering Boehly’s stated interest in Chelsea being a more “English” side, and considering managers carried over from a previous owner don’t tend to stay too long (they still have not signed him to an extension), we could be a good shout for Potter if you were laying odds.

Chelsea will appoint him when they sack Tuchel. He deserves a shot at a big job. If ETH somehow gets sacked before he moves somewhere else, I'd expect us to go for him as well.

I think Poch is more likely for Chelsea and us if we were to lose managers this season

I think Potter will suffer from not being named Pep, Klopp or Ancelotti when the bigboy jobs are being handed out. I see him at Leicester, Newcastle or Everton for a time before he is being handed the keys to Old Trafford or Ethiad

Probably true, but I hope not. Potter needs to be given a chance. His teams have looked consistently good with such a small budget. Poch is probably the safer bet, but Potter has a higher ceiling.

People need to stop mentioning us when they are scrambling to think of a mid table PL club with a history of success as a stepping stone, we are utter shite and not worthy of that respect anymore.

That’s what I thought watching Leeds today. The team was greater than the sum of their individual parts. It’s beautiful to see…and gutting we haven’t seen it from United in so long

When you watch Brighton play you wonder how the feck it happens.
Mediocre players but everyone knows their role, where they have to be, clear patterns of play.
It’s outstanding.
Whether he can command the respect of players at a big club is the only question mark at the moment.
utd as we stand right now with Ronaldo the answer is probably “no he can’t” (but realistically it’s a nearly impossible job unless you are fergie, pep and klopp combined) but if Brighton continue to do well this yearand all the signs are that they will he’ll be very hard to ignore when a job vacancy pops up at a big club.
He has excelled everywhere he’s been.
put it this way - if we were playing like Brighton this year would anyone here complain?

Have liked seeing him get his due credit on here since Ole was sacked, one of the best managers in the Prem

Certainly think he should be considered if it doesn't work out with ETH.

Fantastic manager.

He can't be at Brighton next season. When one of the bigger team sacks a manager or they leave for whatever reason, he needs to be appointed.

It’ll be interesting watching what happens next with him. I have a suspicion that he may follow Dan Ashworth to Newcastle on current trajectory.

Please can someone appoint this bloke. It’s so f*cking obvious.

He's heading to Chelsea as soon as they sack Tuchel.

Not gonna lie, I hope he stays at Brighton until things go pear shaped for Tuchel, which, let’s be real, is bound to happen eventually.

As pleased as I am to have ETH, I wish we could see what Potter might have done at United, but I reckon he'll end up replacing Klopp one day.

Yeah, unfortunately Chelsea playing poorly means that they'll also be closest to sacking and getting the new manager. Sort of like how Liverpool lucked onto Klopp. Utd missed a trick by not appointing him, it must be said. Doesn't seem to need 100m players to do his thing.

Chelsea, City or Spurs. Don't know which of the three he'll be at but can see him at one of those in the next few years. Would be a good choice for England manager too but probably after his next club move.

Sooner or later he'll take over some of the big 6 clubs but don't think it'll be us unfortunately (though I'm fine with it if ten Hag can be a success for us).

That would be perfect for all parties.
I think it would be a massive error for him. He should be in contention for the next top 6 job that comes up, which is a much more prestigious job than any international role. You could argue Spurs are a lower level job, but international management is not seen as on the same level. Very few top clubs are looking to a national team manager when a job opens up.

The thing is I don’t think Chelsea will sack Tuchel any time soon. I would be very surprised if that happens during this season. He would be my top choice if it did happen though.
