Graham Potter appointed Chelsea manager

This is just eerily similar to Moyes.

You could say that about any manager that is given a longer contract. The managerial style of Potter is completely different to Moyes - Moyes focused on defence; Potter focuses on controlling possession against most teams. The latter is far more translatable to a top club.

Potter has a lot more varied and worldly experience than Moyes. Truly an interesting career path and CV. Masters degree in “leadership and emotional intelligence”? So maybe the quality of his locker rooms aren’t accidental.

technical director for the Ghanaian womens team. He’s travelled all around the world attending weeks of training at a time With major squads like Madrid. He made it out of the group stages in Europa league with Ostersinds?

All varied and well informed experiences, which you can see in his tactical flexibility and philosophy.

Moyes had low level England, then better level England. After United he had the trip outside his comfort zone to La Liga. While still not exactly a generational football mind, he has looked much better as a coach from that experience. If he had a DoF while at United, the expanded experience, and the additional creativity and intelligence of Potter, who knows?

Great manager, but managing the dressing room and fans expectation will ultimately decide how he will fare there. Chelsea dressing room is pretty difficult to handle.

Good post.

Gets a nice break to work with the squad before they play again.

I’m quite interested to see if this is the “unlocking” of the Chelsea Youth Team.
