Graeme Sourness | Retires from “punditry”

Teddy smirking while the senile old bastard was in full gibberish mode was hilarious.

I've just caught up on the full sky post match. I didn't think he was that salty to be honest. Take away his comments about the penalties and he was quite bang on really.

The feck is Sheringham talking about? I don't think there's a single team outside of the top 6 that has managed to have more possession than us in any single encounter. We've also scored 49 goals in the 21 matches against those sides. In fact, we've scored 33 goals at OT, so why would our fans not go home entertained? As for "not being in control" - I remember that game at SB in 2015 when Hazard scored the winner in a game where we had 70%, I said it then and I still believe it now, more so, Mourinho will always cede possession as that's how he (his team) controls games. Liverpool, and Souness, can keep harping on about having 68% of the ball, but that's quite simply because we wanted them to have it.

Edit: feck sakes. 1 minute later and Sheringham changes his mind.

Really admire Carragher now, he almost always makes sense without going over the top like Gnev does

As for Souness, well he's stupid and that's it. I really hate hearing people say stupid things on TV. And because they're stupid, they don't actually know what they're saying is stupid.

You knew it was going to be bad when before the game he described Lukaku as "the best of a bad bunch" when referring to our team. The team in 2nd with a quarter of the season to go.

I think he'd convinced himself Liverpool were going to win by three or four. Sulked through the half time analysis and then when it came back after full time Sheringham was sitting ther staring at him with a big grin on his face.

Didn't he star in a Liverpool team who caused the back pass rule to be changed? They can't have exactly been the bastions of attractive football themselves.

Also he's a daft prick.

Just a reminder of what a hero Souness is to Liverpool supporters.

I agree he should never have spoke to them but it got put out a day late as our Semi against Portsmouth went into extra time. A more balanced article.

He should lay off the whiskey. Replace his suit with a tracksuit and you have the typical grumpy old drunk bastard who doesn't shut up about old glory from three decades ago.

I didn't know Teddy was doing the punditry yesterday! How did he do?

Carragher has no love for Souness, has frequently singled him out for Liverpool’s decline in the 90s. Particularly if the subject of Fergie knocking them off their fecking perch is brought up.

We must have been watching a very different post match analysis then. As I recall souness was more than complimentary about united at half time and at the end. I see in another thread Gary Neville is being castrated for being too neutral and in this thread souness for being apparently too biased! So I assume everyone would prefer Neville to be too biased as well then. Even though souness is being slated for apparently doing just that. Interesting.

I'm usually a big Souness fan and defensive of him but he was very biased in this game and his compliments were laced with bitterness and not of the good kind.

He's become a total idiot hasn't he?

He's arguing that Mane didn't dive and should have had a 'obvious' penalty against Palace.

What planet is he on

He genuinely looks pained whenever we win. When we beat Liverpool his squirming was nice to see

I couldn't believe my ears when he was certain that it was a penalty. I wish someone had called him out for it, just weirdly mad opinion.

He can be daft, but this was a special kind of daft.

The only person that called him out on his bullshit recently is Carragher.

Soccer Saturday had to take fomer players off watching their own sides yet this is the 2nd tv game out of 3 that Liverpool have had the daughter of a Liverpool legend presenting alongside 2 ex players.
It simply doesn't make sense to me.

Stayed back in the pub to lick his salt after the game.

Totally worth it.

Just a very bitter man. He's become unhinged recently.

Nothing player makes a nothing pundit. Quelle suprise. Could have played a role at United as Keane's boot shiner, bout the level of his abilities as a player.

the best thing he says about him is basically he's an athlete

Bitter Scouse tosser....it’s hilarious to watch him having to stay and analyse our win!

Ridiculous comment. Like I get the gist of the point he's trying to make but at least say his technique as well as his athleticism is his best attributes. He basically called him Fellaini.

I'm not accusing Souness of actually being overtly racist, and usually with these things I take a relaxed stance, like the Lukaku chants, or even when Souness himself consistently brings up pace and power with black players in the past, but I can't help but get a little annoyed and feel certain vibes when Souness constantly reduces Pogba down to Athleticism, and talks about it as his main, singular, strength ( he must have brought it up 10+ times after the match).Even had it been with a Lukaku i'd be able to see where he's coming from, but this just doesn't make sense to me. Regardless of how you feel about him or his mentality, Pogba is one of, if the most technically gifted player on our team. He's not even overwhelming special athletically, so I don't understand why Souness just dismisses him like this. I Just get the feeling that he subconsciously sees a tall black midfielder, then starts to see and think about him what he wants to.
