Golf 2023

Dude’s swing reminds me a bit of Tom Purtzer’s (who has one of the most simplistically pure movements in golf history), but I really love how Homa isn’t afraid to call a jackass in the gallery out…

Best clip of Purtzer’s swing I could find from behind…

Unreal, he played some wretched stuff today
Long irons are now the clubs I’m struggling with the most. 5-3 is hurting me as its
My 200-240 yard finders.

I tweaked my driver and wood swing the other day and I’m now hitting them so good. Starting to average 110mph swing speed and 155-160mph ball speed and usually straight. Aiming to cruise at 160-165mph by years end.

for those playing at home, I’m 110kg and built a bit so strength isn’t an issue hence my speed.

Had a pro lesson to fix my driver the other day. It´s so darn difficult to re-learn things in golf! Should´ve seen him way earlier, before bad habits got stuck.

Luckily it wasn't really a big deal. Go back to a more neutral grip ("strong grip" has been the only thing the Internet tells you to fix your slice, and I had totally overdone it), and focus my stance instead.

I´ve now got a lot higher margin of error, and I even hook a shot every now and then (before it was a slice 99% of the time), but when I actually make proper contact now, I´ve increased distance by 15-20%! And I'm starting to finally get a good understanding of how to hit a proper draw, even with the driver.

Good times ahead, hopefully!

Lessons, imo, are easily the best investment in golf.

You can literally play with 30 year old clubs. You can’t play with a shit swing.

I kind of felt that Scheffler is a bit shaky right now and won’t win so put money on Fitzpatrick with 10 holes left. Well I was right about the first part

I would say under the circumstances, and the course, that’s top 5 best rounds of golf of all time from Hovland.

Schefflers streaky putting this season has been an issue, it his putting was as good as the rest of his game he'd have won everything
I’ve been wondering when folks in the business are gonna start bringing that up. It’s the one thing separating him from having a peak-Tiger like year.

Scheffler should be a god to the amateur golfer. There’s almost nothing in his swing a pro would teach.

Let’s goooo

Looking forward to this.
Legit Bob and co do some of the most entertaining shit.
Better than watching Steve from Good Good take the absolute piss riding off the coattails of Garret, Kwon, Micah and Grant for the past 3 years.

also saw highlights of Viktors round. It’s not even that he was lucky. Those shots into the green were magnificent.

Surely one of the best back 9s ever? Scottie had a 3 shot lead on him, shot a 66 and somehow still lost by 2.

I feel this has been the whole narrative around Scottie for at least a couple of months now?

And props to the teaching pros / swing coach he's had in his entire golfing career for not trying to correct his swing idiosyncrasies.

his swing in college looked more conventional though, I wonder how he managed to deviate from it. He did look a bit skinnier back then, maybe his body was limiting him and he just rolled with it.

I had a chance to play 18 holes 3 straight days a few weeks ago and it was transformative. I was shit all 3 days but I really had a good feel for my swing the last few holes of day 3. Played a few more rounds the last two weeks and they were the best rounds of my life. Driver is now straight and longer than ever and irons are dialed in. If I can ever get my putter decent I might get close to par. It is amazing how it all just clicked.

you will, and it’ll be the exact same time your short game abandons you. Then one day, it’ll all click and you’ll be -2 walking on 18…. What happens next is on your cojones

What I love is how I’m currently at that part in my golf life where 2 of 3 parts of my game work at a time… but I never know which 2 I’ll have till I get out there.

Driver + Irons - Short game

Irons + Short game - Driver

Driver + Short game - Irons

Never all 3 together

Probably

Shot -4 over 9 holes as a two man best ball group today. Probably would have been +3 or 4 on my own as we seemed to alternate shit shots.

The hilarious part of this is I have had a substantial slice in my driver forever. The last few weeks it has faded away completely and I found myself yelling in frustration “I fecking hit it straight” on a dogleg hole where I was counting on the slice.
