Golf 2023

384 yard drive followed up by a 60* wedge hit 3 yards short.

I honestly don’t think it’s Rory’s putting. I think it’s his approach game. He’s not been putting himself in many situations to realistically 1 putt.

Crazy how much of the women’s tour has been taken over by Asian players. New superstars coming up every week

Golf is growing in Asian women’s culture especially in Korea. You can see it in Australia where a huge number of women who play the game are of Asian decent.

Also, has anybody played in Korea? Course look absolutely mint. Like Augusta but all of them.

Good for him.

So want to see him bag a major, but I can also see him becoming Lee Westwood & Colin Montgomerie 2.0.

Couldn’t be happier for the guy!
Same. There were times when I thought his career was over and to see him come back like this is just awesome.

My brother has been a huge Fowler fan from the get go and he’s watching the coverage on TV instead of streaming it, so he has no clue that Rickie’s won it. Can’t wait till he sees that approach shot from the gallery on the playoff hole.

Who’s the player you want to see next in the winners circle? New player or somebody who’s on a drought?

Mines Tom Kim

Agree with Hadwin at the next tour stop.

Spieth would be my choice as the next major winner.

Annoyed Colin after couldn’t convert after 4 solid rounds but also really happy for Rickie. Bloke probably thought he’d never win again.

In saying all this, Colin is starting to look like his 2020-21 self which is very exciting. Best iron player in the game by a mile and his putting has improved massively.

I’m sorrry but Westwood and Monty are in a different class to Fleetwood. Look at the wins.
But all three have the same amount of major titles. Westwood & Montgomerie are the quintessential BTHNWAM. Fowler will be up in that stratosphere as well if he finishes sans major for his career.

It’s a little different for Tommy. If Fleetwood doesn’t bag a major in the next eight years, the comparisons will be non stop. It’s quite a yoke to wear as a UK golfer.

Tommy has to do a lot more to be considered with these names, was my point. He’s had some good wins in Europe but won nothing on the PGA Tour and doesn’t have the order of merits or volume of DP wins to compensate. Doesn’t have a good major record either. Different level at the moment.

That’s why I gave the caveat of ‘in the next eight years.’ Of course his career pales in comparison to the aforementioned duo, but he’ll potentially be anointed as another BTHNWAM in the twilight of his junior circuit career.

It would be silly to definitively call him one now, but he could be in the argument as the years progress.

Have always liked him. Seems a really nice fella. Hope he gets a major in the next few years.

I’d like to point out, Fleetwood and Montgomerie currently have the same amount of wins on the PGA Tour. I know that’s not what you meant

Different times though. Monty played week in week out in Europe.

The Euro tour was miles better in the 90's and early 00's, the DP World Tour is a bit of a joke sans one or two tournaments that pull the big guns in, i mean with no offense players like Aaron Rai would never have gone full PGA tour back then with the tournaments and prize money on offer in Europe

Yep, happened a few years ago at the Masters. It’s a tradition to hit that shot on 16 during the practice rounds.

It’s not hard to reproduce - you just need some cut spin (left to right v hook spin being right to left - that would cause the ball to ultimately dive into the water as the shot progressed) & a more delofted club in your hand.

You’ll see this recovery shot on tour every now & then, but never to the degree of success as Rahm’s shot.
