Glazers / Woodward out! (One down)

We wouldn't be spending their money, we would be spending our own. Same as we are now, except they wouldn't be taking money out of the club.

I'm not looking for oil money, just the ability to spend to the maximum of our ability, as one of the biggest clubs in world football.

I'd rather have the club do that under people who don't have journalists chopped to bits to be honest. But I guess beggers can't be choosers..

Under Woodward's watch, United spent ridiculous amounts of money and our wage bill spiralled out of control. We haven't been able to win a league title since that snake took over. Now he's leaving as a disgraced CEO who turned United into a joke. But hey he 'remodernised' our scouting net
Woodward would've been successful if he had given that money to Fergie. But he gave it to managers who wasted that money. Gill wouldn't have done any different because our footballing structure within our country has always been to give control to the manager.

It's the mindless hysteria and " together we can change the world if we fight " posturings i love knowing that in a years time when it all starts you will all still be here posting "Ole is a horrible coach and will never win the Super League"

This is happening and there's nothing that will stop it so why the delusion?
Oracle.

They’ve lost the prick (Woodward) who helped them takeover the club and now this pathetic European super league has been rightfully so flushed down the pan. What do they have left now to do with us? Should just focus on their Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Woodward was involved in the selection of 3 managers (LVG, Mou and Ole). I've yet to find any of those managers praising Woodward the way Sir Alex did with Gill. Actually most of them think that he was a bit of a moron. That feeling is shared by most United fans (lets say all bar some people like you)

Reputation wise the United Woodward will be leaving behind is far weaker then the one left by Gill. I've seen many changes in the club (Edwards, Kenyon, Gill etc) and fans had never celebrated the end of a CEO's career like we're doing with Woodward.

I can't see anybody wanting to invest in a club that has just been at the forefront of the biggest embarrassment in footballing history. Suspect price will drop though.

Gill left a better reputation because he was carried by Fergie, and not the other way around. We fell from our perch when Fergie retired and not because of Gill, because we were successful even with Kenyon fecking transfer deals up, because again, we had Fergie.

Just seen that Glazier is the Vice Chairman of the Super League, oh dear.

The problem is Woodward doesn't leave till the end of this year. So we will have a lame duck executive vice chairman who if he sucked on football transfers before will suck even more this summer when he knows he is off.

Gill kept expenses under control (a bit too much for my tastes but oh well). His manager respected him greatly. I've seen 4 Man United CEOs leaving (Edwards, Kenyon, Gill and Woodward) throughout my life. I've never seen so much celebration as now. Woodward is hated because he's an incompetent mess who hired badly, his decision making was all over the place and had allowed these people to literally throw money in the bin. Our club's reputation has never been in the shitters as now. That happened on Woodward's watch.

More importantly he's also a 2 faced snake

Gill was never in a position to hire a manager, hence rode on Fergie's coat tails. Gill was also the same lying cnut who told us fans that Fergie's successor will be a proven winner at the European level.

I still think there's a solid chance a government inquiry will result in a shake up on football club ownership.

The only real way of getting them out unfortunately, forcefully reduce their share of the club so its a realistic price for new buyers.

He's clearly incompetent. I mean no sane man would first handle a contract extension to his manager only to fire him few months later. Woodward did it twice. Clubs/Players were taking him for a ride in terms of salaries/fees. What does Woodward do? He hires a person with a similar CV to his to do the job. United spent years searching for a DOF. He finally fount him at the club ie a guy whose been part of this 7 year mess. How stupid is that?

Woodward understand money. He doesn't understand football

He stiched Evra up behind his back soon as he was given the job

You'd rather the Saudis? Elon? Bozos?

I'll take Bezos. Saudis absolutely not. Elon is great at what he doesn't but he seems to be the know it all type. Elon would intefere too much. We need someone whose okay not being in the spotlight.

But what matters is interest. Elon and Bezos don't care about football. At the moment Saudi's are the only ones who have shown legit interest to buy. UTD reputation isn't great right now but financially they rake in 500 million + in revenue. No way it goes for less than 2.5 billion. It's hard to see anyone apart from Saudi's raising that kinda cash especially after the events of last year

So what? Under Woodward United spent shitloads of money and the salary bill went to the roof with nothing to show for. After years of messing up the guy finally noticed that he was being taken for a ride by agents/clubs. What did he do? He hired someone with a similar CV to his to do the job. He renewed the contract only to sack the manager to TWO MANAGERS. How stupid is that?

His legacy is a meme. OT is in a mess, we never won the league under the guy despite spending more money then anyone else bar Shitty OT and our reputation is in tatters. Look around you. Fans are celebrating his departure as if we're in May 8 1945 and WW2 had just ended. Really mate, just admit that the guy is a train wreck.

Worry the fookers that Government regulation - spurred by fan protest - could damage their investment,

David Gill is no better than Woodward.

Debt is the road to ruin indeed...

His time at the club coincided with us winning things. That's the main difference.

We need someone new in with fresh football ideas but I'd imagine it will be another Glazer pick from the corporate world.

what have the Glazers done wrong?

this is not supportive of the Glazers, but a leveraged buyout and paying the shareholders dividends in normal in business. They have spent more on transfers than almost any other club, we have one of the biggest wage bills, and they have increased Revenues Massively.

I’m no fan of them - but they’ve not done anything to justify forcing them to sell up.

Again not supporting them, but there’s a massive chance that anyone who can afford £3bn (or whatever the club is worth) would be worse. No one is paying that money for a plaything, they will want to profit from their investment.

We wouldn't have done any better under Gill either. Fergie retiring is what caused our issues and our footballing structure was out of date which Woodward inherited from his predecessor. Woodward working with Fergie would also have been a success IMO. You're crediting Gill for Fergie's genius, who was a man who had total control of the football side of the club.

Preach!! We still aren’t going nowhere fast if we keep living in the past.

Agreed.

You can't say that as Gill wasn't around. Gill was adored by his manager, probably more then other CEOs we had in the past . We can't say the same with Woodward.

The Glazer's were also praised by Fergie.

Having been indifferent over the Glazers for the last 16 years, I'm fully onboard the 'Glazer's out' train now. Everything at the top is just a whole load of slime in the way things are being run. You guys were right.

Joel Glazer, I wonder where he's hiding.

We're talking about Gill and Woodward here, not the Glazers. Sir Alex seem to have had a way better relationship with Gill then with all other CEOs. The same can't be said about Woodward and the managers HE CHOSE. Also note that under Gill the club still had a great reputation, the wage bill was under control, OT wasn't a mess and we didn't throw 900m in the bin.

With Woodward out it would be interested to see if the Glazers are as shit as we portray them to be.

You brought Fergie into it and mentioned his praise towards Gill as to justify your position on David Gill. If you're gonna use Fergie's words to do that, then also stay consistent and show your appreciation for the Glazer's, who Fergie described as 'excellent owners'

Not under David Gill but Under Fergie who had complete control of the comings and goings at first team level.

Ferguson had no control over fees and salaries paid. That was always under the CEO's domain. Gill ran a tight ship. United's expenses was under control and we had a great reputation. Can't say the same with Woodward

I criticise the Glazer for holding to Woodward for so long. Other owners would had fired him/moved him in a different role long ago.
