Glazers / Woodward out! (One down)

about 3.2bn i believe. You have to buy out the owners and square the debts they secured against the club

That is such a huge value, could it be affected by all this? I don't get shares etc!

Could many people afford that outright eg not joint ownership? At that value aren't we looking at oil money?

I think slavery, genocide, chopping up journalists and basic rejection of human rights are a solid place to start a conversation

yeah i agree i’m trying to gauge what people hate. I think it would just make the league stupid and non competitive if we spend at the rate city do

Lad's, there's no major money in this now for an American owner. We're most likely looking at Chinese or Middle Eastern.

My concern is that no one buying the club for daft money is coming in because they really want to win a Champions League. They will think they can get a damn good return on their investment somewhere

I never joined this forum to be a nuisance or gloat or be confrontational. I joined it because the posting quality was unusually high, of course, but also because United was always "my English club". When I played FM or Fifa as a child and wanted to pick a top club, I'd play as Bayern, whatever team Zidane played for or United. I did gloat a little when United fell off a cliff post Ferguson, I loved it when Bayern got more CL titles than United after Barcelona. But in a way, I always hated what United has become since the Glazers took over. It was obvious that success on the pitch wasn't the top priority anymore. I don't want great european rivals to turn into money printing franchises. I would honestly be elated this shitshow turns out to be the deathknell for Woodward AND the Glazers. Because I want Bayern to beat a United team in the CL that is terrifying, not... whatever this is. Here's hoping for the best

I think what 'the rat' would have done is to....how did you word it last time round? Yeah Jump ship. He's too bright to get trapped into such mess.
He's also complicit in the mess post Fergie. The complete neglect of the academy is just one example.

Glazers are the main ones that need to go. By staying they could appoint someone more incompetent in charge of transfers and player contracts than Ed Woodward if that is even possible?

Listen nobody would be 100% comfortable with them due to the human rights issues.

My thoughts on this has been that any stronger ties to western society only serves to shine a light on them even more and in turn you expect that to only limit their inclination for further atrocities, it certainly wouldn’t make it worse.

To wag the finger at them from thousands of miles away and distance ourselves from them does no good either.

Has to be the worst justification I've heard for accepting blood money.

We were run properly up until the Russian and Sheikh Mansour showed up. You'll be shocked to learn that most United fans hold Gill in higher regard than Woodward. I think this serves as a good lesson for everyone not to trust the snake
Fixed that for you.

There's no doubt that United had seen better times. However Gill is nowhere near to the train wreck Woodward was. Read what Sir Alex says about him.

Post of the decade.

Im literally getting the sound system out and ordering a magnum of champagne.

Let’s hope that this news gets usurped very soon by the Glazers fecking off. They are not wanted.
Save your money, we have a club to buy back.

What's the going rate for cats on the black market? I might be able to raise some cash...

Not enormously i dont think. Share prices soared yesterday on SL announcement and are dropping now but back to what they were. In terms of ownership, You are looking at state ownership, or jeff bezos or elon musk taking an interest. Plus we need a new stadium or heavy investment in old trafford, players.

Who could afford us? Can't think of any benevolent billionaire out there.

the thing is glazers are a lot more exposed now. Until now they held their heads high and denied they are open to sell. Now we see it isn't the situation. They probably would have sold after this disgraceful league materialize.

I think the price has come down. The club has debt and needs investments in all fronts. The price might not be as expensive as we thought. Hence there can be more potential investors.

Seriously?
Yes seriously, the day Roman and Sheikh Mansour arrived, was the day we didn't have the financial superiority over everybody else in England. Fergie's genius kept us winning titles which had nothing to do with David Gill or the Glazer's.

Unfortunately I don't think they will be selling then, as the market of buyers must be quite limited by that. How come share prices soared on the SL announcement? I thought given the fans' and general reaction, they would have dropped as it was so negatively received? Unless they all saw it as a ££££ potential. (Shows how little I know about shares I'm too risk averse to touch them, my boyfriend is really in to them, it all goes over my head!)

The costs of a new stadium must be pretty steep mustn't they? It would be interesting to see what reaction a new owner coming in and building a new stadium would receive. I know Tottenham's new stadium looks amazing (never been in it) but Old Trafford is so iconic, I got Goosebumps at finally getting to go, then another time sit on the Stretford, I think it would be better to revamp Old Trafford, bit like Liverpool did with Anfield, its still Anfield, just had proper investment in to it.

We wouldn't be spending their money, we would be spending our own. Same as we are now, except they wouldn't be taking money out of the club.

I'm not looking for oil money, just the ability to spend to the maximum of our ability, as one of the biggest clubs in world football.

Until these lot go we won't fully have a chance of prospering as a FC rather than a business. Our Government also need to change the laws which hopefully give a greater say to fans if possible similar to what happens in Germany.

Under Woodward's watch, United spent ridiculous amounts of money and our wage bill spiralled out of control. We haven't been able to win a league title since that snake took over. Now he's leaving as a disgraced CEO who turned United into a joke. But hey he 'remodernised' our scouting net

Can't they sell smaller chunks off to multiple buyers and force a PLC again? Or does it have to be one buyer.

Any business boffins around that can explain?

What a turn of events.

Get rid of all those greedy monsters.

Football will come out stronger out of this , amazing !!!
