Bayern seems to have their mind in Madrid the last 15 minutes there

2010/11 - they finished third behind Dortmund and Leverkusen.

They are still 2 points ahead and have a better goal difference with 2 matches to go where they can put their full focus, too. This game was a bonus game between 2 CL semi final matches in which they played with a weakened team and made early changes, too.

Still an unnecessary loss. We had the better chances in the second half. Stuttgart had lots of possession without creating anything of note. 2nd goal is on Davies who is way too passiv and gives Ito a free header without challenging at all.

I think Tuchel plans to play similar in Madrid.

I'll rather have Mazroui play LB than Davies since it seems Guerreiro is injured

Davies future might be as a wing back in a 3 at the back system

The interest of Madrid on Davies cooled down. If he doesn't play again on Wednesday, I doubt they still will go after him but I agree Mazraoui is the safer bet, even if he is a RB by nature. Says all how much Davies has regressed. Very disappointing development.

Another day, another Leverkusen masterclass. Alonso has them playing out of their minds

Bit disappointing that no new points record will be set despite being invincible. At least they won't outshine all our bests at once.

Well maybe, just maybe Bochum can stop Leverkusen to become the German invincibles. At least they did it last year....

At the deep of our hearts we all know that they will lose the final match of the season and Kaiserslautern win the cup, don't we ?

What happened to Bayern this year? I thought they are a serious club, with a good "structure". But I can't understand their decision to sack the manager, but keep him as interim. This seems stupid and pointless to me. Why not wait till the summer to sack him? The "structure" should have kept their mouths shut for a couple of months. If you announce that you do not want this manager for much longer, you are saying that this manager has failed. So, your players are playing under a manager who is a failure. How can this help the team?

The internal turmoil is mainly caused by the two usual suspects Rummenigge and Hoeneß. The problem with the team is the lack of squad depth and the resulting injuries.
I'm not completely convinced by Tuchel, but I would give him another chance for the reasons mentioned above. Leverkusen are simply playing an absolute freak season.

I though Hoeness was no longer in an official position in the club?

Not in an executive role, but he is member of the supervisory board. And nonetheless it's obvious that he is more involved in daily business than fits his formal position. Which is exactly the problem.

He isn't but fortunately that doesn't mean he's not micro-managing the club anyway ;) You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain

I think the sacking of Nagelsmann last year was extremely unnecessary. Then they had quite an unfortunate transfer window and lots of injuries. If Leverkusen would play a normal "good" season with 60 points Bayern Munich would still win the championship or fight for it right now like last year. I wish my favorite clubs would have a similar "crisis" like Bayern Munich has with just being second after 11 consecutive wins and being in the Champions League semi final after winning two trebles and being 4 times in the final in the last 15 years.

Okay, but how does this explain the premature announcement of the manager sacking? I am not judging the sacking itself, I am questioning the early announcement of the sacking. They could wait till the end of the season to announce that. I can't understand how it could be good for a team to play under a manager that has been already sacked.

It was obvious that the Alonso to Bayern rumours would go through the roog after the Tuchel announcement. I wouldn't rule out that they secretely hoped this would mess our form up. But on the contrary, if it did and they would have taken the lead, it would have made Tuchel unsackable pretty much. So maybe they just wanted to be transparent because they expected the info to be leaked sooner or later anyway.

I wouldn't have been surprised if Tuchel himself just talked about it.

Bayern wanting Ten Hag for manager ..they should go all in for Glasner instead..

You also need unstoppable Antony, and Onana, the second best keeper of PL. They know ETH's systems very well, it will be great.
Yep, there is no way anybody should give ten Hag authority over transfers after seeing him spent €150m on fecking Antony and Onana.

Great news for all Bayern fans here.

If Bayern indeed had poached this great coach who undoubtedly plays the most exciting football in the EPL, the resident United fans would never have forgiven us.

We Bayern fans would have become the eternal villains on redcafe for supporting the club which always weakens it's competitors by poaching there most valued assets. Not only in Bundesliga but now also in the EPL

Would have been in bad taste to lure away Uniteds revered coach.

End of an era: Simon Terodde ends his career. The best striker in the history of the second league, a goal record there probably for the ages. Wise decision to not get more scratches on his legacy by failing with Schalke.

If I were an Union Berlin or Cologne fan, I would be seriously pissed off about Dortmund showing no effort at all.

Dortmund is giving away the game to Mainz and influencing the relegation fight. Absolutely no go and totally against fair play.

I'm grilling with the family so I cannot watch the game. Are they really just not giving a damn because they've got the CL secured already, or are they just having a bad day?

Yeah chucked it today. Mind you they completed messed it up v Mainz last season when they had everything on the line and Mainz had a really good second half of the season.

Union Berlin probably in a relegation play off now so feels a good chance for Bundesliga 2nd team to finally win one. They massively overachieved last season but on the face of it they seemed to have had a decent transfer window with all of Robin Gosens, Volland and Aaronson coming in so bit surprised they've declined so much. Also changed coach mid season.

They were 3:0 down after 23 minutes to a club facing relegation. I just saw the goals and they looked to easy for my taste.

Also full rotation (only Schlotterbeck stayed in the team, all other starters from the PSG match were replaced today.

Had Dortmund won, it would have been interesting to see what 6th placed Frankfurt would do against Leipzig. They play Leipzig on the last match day who are fourth, while Dortmund are fifth. Apparently, Frankfurt can only qualify for the Champions League if Dortmund wins it, while finishing fifth. With Dortmund‘s loss, however, there is no possibility anymore to overtake Leipzig.

So a solid possibility now that there’s no top flight football in Berlin next year?
Yes definitely.

And also it's now confirmed that another team will play in the Bundesliga for the first time in its history next season. Holstein Kiel just drew 1-1 with Düsseldorf which ensures their promotion.

Düsseldorf also now looks to be the most likely team to enter the relegation playoffs (potentially against Union Berlin) as St. Pauli need only 1 point from their two remaining matches to stay ahead of Düsseldorf.

To celebrate the occasion, and because that game also resulted in a draw for Kiel, I have just rewatched the football game from the first Werner movie. Good fun every time I dig that one out again.
Looking forward to seeing their debut in the Bundesliga!

Another result of the weekend is that HSV definitely failed for yet another season to make it back up into the top flight. That makes it six seasons in a row now. Instead St. Pauli will at the bare minimum make relegation playoffs, or more likely directly go back up. I am very happy to see them back.
