Did that referee suffer conequences ? If there was not VAR we could call that an error. With things being the way they are, I have no doubt it was deliberate.

Schloterbeck has been such a disappointment since moving to Dortmund. Looked like a talented player but has been nothing much average since moving, he's at Ginter level of disappointment.

Ginter was/is a player, who is farily good all around, but has few/no stand out qualities. Schlotterbeck however is clearly very talented at lots of things: aggressive defending, forcing quick transitions after winning the ball and building attacks in general. He's very well suited to the modern game in theory, the goal in Newcastle was a good showcase of what he adds to the team when he's on top of his game. So his issue isn't talent, it's concentration and consistency.
Some players grow out of this, some don't. He's just turned 24 and only halfway through his second season at a big club. It's too early to write him off.

There was a time when Karlsruhe was our favorite feeder club. Scholl, Kreuzer, Sternkopf and most of all Oliver Kahn.

You are correct. He finished his career there after coming back from playing in Japan. But he is most famous for playing for VfB Stuttgart.
And he does not even use them. It is not a muscle injury - but we know how easy Coman gets injured. He just came back from a muscle injury he had at the end of the old year. The first match prior to the days in Portugal he just was a substitute - but after it he was playing nearly full matches on Sunday, Wednesday and started again Saturday afternoon on Augsburg turf... I do not think it is really surprising. His longer injuries in the past always seem to come short after winter- or summer break.
I think the team did not have a free day since coming back from Portugal.
The Coman injury was just bad luck. The Augsburg player just fell on his leg and bended the knee awkwardly. Nothing you can do against such injuries. Same with Kimmich's shoulder injury.
May bad then. I remember he went to Japan at the end of his career but didn't know he joined Karlsruhe afterwards.
He was like 36 at the time he played in Karlsruhe. Wasn't particularly noteworthy, but a club like KSC having a world cup champion play for them is always kind of nice

He did! To this day I have no idea what kind of black magic brought an absolute legend like Icke, in his prime, to Karlsruhe. Fantastic player, real role model professional as well
Karlsruhe in the early and mid nineties had been quite successful. Comparable to Frankfurt these days.
I remember Schäfer talking about the KSC 2000 or something like that, only to have disastrous season in 97/98 and going down to the second division.
Unlike the FCK which got relegated 2 years earlier and got immediately promoted the following year, Karlsruhe for some reason couldn't turn the tide and got stuck in Liga 2 for several years.
Well, while we're on the topic, KSC 2000 was a Schmieder (long time president from the 80's till the late 90's iirc) project. However it was the relegation to the third division 99/00 that really killed the club off. We had spent more than we had to get back up and it backfired terribly. The relegation into the third division also meant our second team (that almost won promotion from the third division that season!) had to be relegated too and despite coming back to 2.Bundesliga relatively quickly things have never been the same, the pipeline of talent tried up (save the occasional good one like Stindl and later Hakan). Hoffenheim buying/poaching 5 generations of our youth academy with "Fahrtgeld" didn't help either. Also DFB relegated us via a Jahn Regensburg dive back to the now existing 3.Bundesliga and then the now famous Gräfe decision against Hamburg. Add to that the hilarious fact we actually had a game were one of the referees did jail time for bending it and the DFB decided it wasn't bent enough for a replay (3.12.2004 vs Duisburg). All of that led some of our support to just say feck it, what's the point.
Slowly but surely we are currently building ourselves up to be fecked over by DFB again.

I was there when Marcelo Diaz scored that freekick. Still haunts me and I take great pleasure in seeing Hamburg going from unrelegateable to unpromotable. The decision wasn't their fault, but feck them regardless
Thanks. I don't really blame Hamburg, and them being fecked over with 14 minutes in Heidenheim last season (where Heidenheim was practically allowed to play until promoted) has worn off any bad feelings towards them. Other than their coach I don't dislike them. For me it was the accumulation of so much DFB bs that led to so many KSC fans becoming bitter about HSV, but they didn't dive or do anything dirty (looking at you Regensburg), they just did what I'd expect our players to do, and did it well (Diaz).
Anyway all is well that ends well and I am content with just about all German fans hating DFL/DFB these days.

Sterni was most successful as a Bravo poster boy I honestly can't remember any match where he proved what an alleged talent he was. And Kreuzer.. Well in today's football even defenders need *some* football skill. It was always fun watching him warming up. I completely suck at football and my keepie-uppie all time record is 4 times. So was his
