Yeah exactly. Think his act worked nicely for Ran NFL, since the whole atmosphere is more laid back and 'hip', but it just stands out as cringe at Sky Bundesliga

In Germany pressing and "gegenpressing" play a big role. You see that on the mileage the teams run, too. And to have a functioning pressing you should not fall too deep. Germany has more team play - less individualists. That is probably the main difference.

But the real art is to combine that and teams like Liverpool, City and Munich combine that with individual class the best right now. (none of them is perfect right now and all of the teams, even City, has issues - but some of that could be solved until end of the season) At Chelsea I see the team - but not so much the special individualists. United might have the individualists - but does not really get that combined with tactics and team play.

You are of course correct. The real lineup will have the midfielders more narrow and then it's anyone's guess whether things look like a 4-diamond-2 or whether it's more like a 433. In the previous game against Frankfurt Rose played Hazard instead of Malen and let him play asymmetrically extremely wide, to exploit the space that Kostic leaves behind him. Which was quite effective. However Reus doesn't really have the pace to do that anymore, Haaland just has to play centrally and Malen usually occupies the left half space. So maybe that won't be an option with this set of attackers.

Well what a treat. Before we have to listen to his unbearable obnoxious bravado for 90 minutes, Sky shows us the fat greasy face of Wolf Fuss on screen for a minute or two. Thank god I'm not paying for this.
 
I know I shouldn't, but as a Berlin resident I can't help but feel a sizeable amount of bright and clear Schadenfreude about Glasner falling off an E-scooter. It's one of those stories that just make me smile.

I agree, but why does it matter that you live in Berlin? Those things are a nuisance in every slightly big city now.

The delivery by Kostic was perfect, too. It had enough pace to beat the first man in the box and was put on a plate for Borré.
 
It really is incredible how many reckless or outright stupid moments Can produces for someone with this much experience. There are periods when you think he's actually a good player, but using him anywhere close to his own goal is just asking for trouble, which is a bit of a downside for a player whose defensive side is supposed to be his biggest strength.
 
2-0. Was coming and well-deserved now. BVB's build-up play was beyond farcical in those last couple of minutes.

Reus actually won the ball cleanly, but then failed to control it. Does that count as (bad) defending? I think the bigger problem is that the team started out well, but the build up completely collapsed after Frankfurt's first goal, giving Frankfurt way too many turnovers to run at Dortmund's goal. If they can do that often enough, then goals a bound to happen.

I always thought he was a decent midfielder, good passing and driving with the ball. It's strange to me that he plays as a CB, reminds me when we'd occasionally play Carrick as a CB due to injuries, but never as an actual long term option

Not being able to clear the ball is bad defending for me, yes.

He's only playing there, because Akanji hasn't fully recovered from surgery yet and Zagadou has Covid. His main role is still midfielder, or maybe as a box2box CB in a back three.
 
Sarkasm, or serious? Certainly has been far better than Haaland.
 
Dortmund can be really poor at times,

Disappointing considering the amount of talent they have.
 
Dortmund are playing as if this was their first game ever together, hope to see better from this second half, they've been a massive disappointment so far.

It worked wonders for them for many years continuously punching above their weight and staying in the prem for quitesome time .
 
Hummels should really go get his glasses made. I can't bear to watch all of that squinting any longer and his nearsightedness surely is detrimental to his game. Can he really be that vain? Chicks would love him with glasses, too, and there's also such a thing as contact lenses.
