German Football 2024/25

The one against Müller from close range in the first half was ace. But yes, unimaginative and wasteful. I am also done watching Sané.
I defended Sané for a long time but yeah, he needs to go.
But i dont see a proper replacement.
Nico Williams or Gittens for their supposed price tags aint it imo.

But 1 year ago i didnt even know Olise so lets wait and see what Eberl comes up with.

Extend Musiala, Kimmich, Davies and Neuer, let Sané and Müller go, sell Goretzka, buy Bischof, buy a new Winger, and anoter attacking player, done.

Nico is worth his weight in gold

Btw, was it just me or was the penalty extremely sus? I only saw the one replay and it was a bad angle, but live it looked like a dive to me

I feel like there was a case like this between Karlsruhe and Gladbach in the 80s. Game was replayed and Karlsruhe won (I think).

Terrible decision to award Bochum the win, if they judge the incident severe enough, match should've been replayed without Union fans.
Especially since the teams kinda 'solved' it by finishing the.match meaninglessly, it makes more sense to let it be 1-1.

But then they might think there has to be some kind of bigger punishment for fans to make sure this doesn't happen again in another match. Probably no fan would want to be the cause of their team's loss. There's something to be said for that line of thinking as well.

I'm fine with them awarding the win to Bochum, and having read Union's official statement I don't feel bad for them either.

On a further note the bundesliga fans managed to get their way with interruptions last year. The players should do the same and just leave the pitch any time anything is thrown onto it from any stand. Every time. Until it ends. It wouldn't take 2 weeks and anyone trying to throw anything would end up in hospital.

Surely another striker as well right? Being without Kane made it difficult for Bayern before the winter break.

Keep Coman and Gnabry? I would think one of them will be sold.

I think it was a bit harsh, but fair as there definitely was contact and the defender did push him off his balance as he tried to shoot.

If the defender is lucky this is just overlooked, but not really something to complain about.

Nonetheless Olise really made sure that this is given, so I see where the "looked like a dive" opinion originates.

Id sell Gnabry as well, but i cant imagine that we will swap half our attack in one window.

Personally i would like a 2nd real striker but after what Eberl said i dont think its realistic.
Imo someone like Füllkrug, Kleindienst or Weghorst (cheap, experienced striker that proved he knows how to score) would be enough.
But it seems like Eberl rather extending with Müller.

I will like to keep Gnabry. Sell Sane and Coman. Gnabry looks the better scorer of the 3

1 goal and 3 assists in 17 La Liga matches doesnt scream "he is worth 80m" to me.
At the Euros he also didnt really impress me.
But i dont watch any Bilbao games.

Why is he worth so much money in your opinion?

I agree Gnabry is the best in front of goal out of these 3 but other than that and some good runs he isnt adding anything to our game.

Coman initiated our penalty yesterday with a good dribbling and a good cross. You dont see something like that from Gnabry.

I think we get enough play making creativity and dribbles from Musiala Olise Kane. We need someone who can share the goalscoring. Cos when Kane isn't in form we struggle to score

he basically is Athletic's attack. He's an absolute demon in 1vs1 situations, to the point you pretty much have to throw double teams at him at all times. In Bilbao it works because, well again, he's their entire attack. Put him next to the likes of Musiala, Olise and Kane and watch the carnage

How is this thread inactive, when Kiel is leading 3:0 against Dortmund at halftime? It is such a funny game.

Not much interest in German football from people? Or not much interest in Dortmund and don’t feel it’s that big of a shock

I thought making fun of them was a well established Cafe pastime. :(

What the hell went through Holtby's head there?! That wasn't even in the area code for the ball, purely went for the player.

Holtby - subbed on at min 75, straight red min 85. Fantastic showing

Minute 90+8, Dortmund corner, including Kobel - Kiel counter and score
Madness

Barely managed to get a 2-3 over the finish line, witth a very last second fourth goal. Dortmund's crisis deepens, and Holzbein Kiel can actually find a little hope to fight against relegation.

I have the feeling the resident Dortmund fans on RedCafe have all checked out.

Really looks like that. Probably by now have given up completely on their club and enjoy more satisfying hobbies like watching wall paint dry.

Not a lot of masochists that want to endure the gloating in here I guess :(

Which is understandable I'd say. I don't think any German club gets half as much crap from people here as Dortmund does. Don't get me wrong, I neither like nor rate the club either, but even I feel it gets a bit too much at times when even people who don't watch German football at all just come in to laugh at Dortmond. It's really fascinating how much sympathies changed here amongst unaligned fans after Dortmund refused to sell Sancho in the first window, and the statements that came with it from official channels.

Same for me, thought it was Holtby's son or something!

Wasn't he already about 25 in 2011?!

What's even worse is that they actually sold him to us the year after.

Sure, but by that point I'd argue that the reputation damage was already done. It just added a but more to it that he wasn't even good for United, if he even played at all.

Hopefully none of them have the misfortune to also be United fans

Dortmund was vastly unpopular way before officials said anything negative about United. Many in here couldn't stand that Dortmund were tough negotiatiotors and didn't let Sancho go for a lower fee than they asked for. Then some of Dortmund's officials vented their frustration about United being a very slow and unprofessional business partner publicly and United fans took that personally despite complaining about how slow their club is executing transfers themselves.

that being said, Dortmund deserves this gloating at this point. Watzke has become very arrogant and their club management has been comically bad over the last few years. Uninspired and overpaid transfers with a strong focus on has beens and the domestic market, self-entitlement, etc. They really are doing their best to destroy the goodwill they build up among many fans during the Klopp years for good.

While a good amount of people definitely already were annoyed at Dortmund not just handing Sancho over for less than their evaluation of his, I do not think it was quite as widespread or quite as severe as it was after Dortmund voiced their criticism of United and made some quite unsporting posts on their social media accounts. But that's jusrt my gut feeling.

Where I do not agree with you at all is that Watzke has only recently become the embarrassment that he is. To me he has been unbearable for a much longer time, it's just that back then they at least had some club successes to back up their boss' loudmouthed attitude and hypocracies. Both him and Hoeness are people who I cannot see leaving the football stage soon enough, even with all due respects to their accomplishments, I just want them to shut up and bugger off.

Oh wow... Bremen immediately takes the lead against Heidenheim. If Bremen wins, then Dortmund would after the first half of the season officially be only in the second half of the table (would drop to 10th place). That's both hilarious and sad in a way.

Well said
