German Football 2024/25

That goal was peak Sane, quick turn of pace when he got the ball, great touch and finish.

I browsed through their squad and it doesn't look like they have many real special players. Adeyemi and Brandt look like the standouts.

Gittens has made a huge step this season as well, Nmecha to a lesser extent, too. Duranville is a special talent but was sidelined by injuries so far. Schlotterbeck is a very good CB. And Guirassy is a great striker. They obviously have a few weaknesses and made srupid transfer decisions but I'd still say they have the edge over Leipzig, Stuttgart and Frankfurt.

Gittens looks very promising.
Otherwise, they are almost invincible at home but play like relegation fodder away from it. Weird season that shows clearly how much quality they have lost in the last years.

That Frankfurt keeper is having a game to forget against Mainz

Palacios is my dream signing for United. He would fit in so well with either Mainoo or Ugarte, such a well rounded midfielder who can do everything well.

I see Schick is going to have his triennial 'OMG he's such a great striker we need to try and sign him now!' season before an inevitable injury and drop in form.

Ceesay joining St Pauli straight from Estonian Premium Liiga, is insane move for Estonian clubs and football. He just came to Estonia in the summer.

Any thoughts on the decision in the case Union Berlin vs Bochum?

For those who missed it, the background:
The match between the two was a 1-1 shortly before the end when the Bochum keeper Drewes was hit by a lighter thrown from the Union stands shortly before the end of the match. The games was interrupted for over twenty minutes, Drewes was deemed unable to continue by his team's medical personnel. Due to having exhausted their subs, Bochum had to put a field player into goal when the game was continued, but both teams decided to just kick the ball to each otther until the final whistle so that did not matter and things ended on that 1-1. Video of the incident in question:

It has now been decided that the game would be rated a 2-0 victory for Bochum. Berlin has announced their objection this and will seek to have that sentence revoked.

Personally, while I of course condemn throwing anything at the players, find this decision disastrous. Not only do I think that Drewes massively embellished the little graze with a light plastic lighter, absolutely having been able to continue, I believe that punishing the club for the action of a fan is unacceptable in this case. It's not like Union were negligent in their security concept, you cannot possibly prevent somebody throwing a lighter on the pitch unless you start doing silly things like encompassing the pitch in something like very fine netting.

I feel like there was a case like this between Karlsruhe and Gladbach in the 80s. Game was replayed and Karlsruhe won (I think).

Terrible decision to award Bochum the win, if they judge the incident severe enough, match should've been replayed without Union fans.

Dortmund-Leverkusen 1:2 after 12 minutes, crazy game so far.

Turns out it is not great when your entire defense is out sick/injured...

Somehow Leverkusens luck returned
Not saying I was confident we were doing to well today either way. I would assume we would have put up more of a fight though... Them scoring with their first three shots did not help matters either...

Very harsh penalty, imho. Yes it's technically an arm in his face, but it barely touched and the Dortmund player had lost the battle for the ball already by that time anyway.

Holy crap those last minutes were one incredible fecking waste after the other, just begging Gladbach to score the equalizer yet.
Huge three points away at our favorite banana peel.

Their goalie with the usual world class performance against Bayern.
