No, thanks. Not for 85m, even if the sum isnt correct in the article, he wont leave Real for less than 80m.

I will probably be a big fan of his as he reminds me a bit of Welbeck with his pace, power and athletic physique. However, if we do get him, I feel that he is more of a Giggs signing than a Van Gaal signing. Regardless, I hope he does arrive, but not at the price being touted. United need pace and directness upfront and he will add that.

Benteke or Kane for me is someone who would adopt Van Gaal philosophy moreso due to their hold up play, footballing iq and/or ball retention ability.

Cech
Clyne - Smalling - Jones - Shaw
Carrick/Blind
Herrera - Di Maria/Mata
Rooney
Bale ------------ Depay

Don't think Bale would be too happy with that comparison.

If you keep reading along, you would see what type of attribute I compared bale to Welbeck with. Overall, they are different players, but they also have some similarities.

Just seems strange to equate such a top quality player with an average Premier league player though don't you think?

It'd be like me saying, that lad Messi, reminds me of Bolasie due to his strength, hustle and dribbling ability!

I do not see how anyone can see the comparison you made, whereas mine is pretty accurate towards the ability I compared. Messi does not have the same strength as bolasie. He relies moreso on his balance. Whereas the dribbling ability is too vague, and the hustle trait is incorrect. Of course they are two different class players, but they both have very similar attribute, that is Welbeck and Bale. I even recall some comparison being made between the similarities of run being made between the two, but I can't recall where I can locate the gif.

He just doesn't look that interested today.

I can see him leaving this summer. Chelsea will possibly rival us for him.

Sign Bale and sell Di Maria to balance the books a little. Bale will start tearing up the league once again when he returns back to the premier league.

Louis clearly wants him. This reminds of last year when he mentioned Di Maria and Ronaldo.

From the Independent today:

Van Gaal said: ‘The team is more important than the individual. But when I think a player like Messi or Ronaldo or Bale can contribute in that philosophy, they are welcome to come.

Don't know where we'll fit all three to be fair.

Ronaldo... Messi... Bale

It's on... Kleenex shares will soar this summer!

Bale would be a great addition. Not at £80m though. He's probably, in value, worth max £40-£50m, but there's no way Madrid will sell at anything less than £70-80m.

I think the best figure for both parties is £60 million ; Madrid should accept a loss for his massive dip in form recently, and we shouldn't be spending a world record fee on a player that was paid that much only 2 years ago.

Exactly what I thought. Biggest giveaway of all we're after him, assuming it's a genuine quote.

One never knows with Madrid. The point is we shouldn't have to pay 60m or more when we have assets Madrid is interested in.

You are right, we should try something like that.

£60mil + DeGea, anything more would be beyond ludicrous.

Also people putting him up top in their formations, surely that would be a waste as he only really has his speed.

Good lord. Those gifs tell you everything though. Welbeck falls over at the end whilst Bale scores a goal. Danny is out of control in full flow whilst Bale is in control.

Spanish press reported £77m or €91m based on the exchange rate at the time
€91m euros is now £66m so that would at least let madrid break even and save some face

Why do we care that they save face? We should stop worrying about maintaining good relationship with that circus. If they feel like they can show up at our door when they please and get our best player, then we should perhaps realize it is time to show them the finger.

Nah that not the one from Welbeck, but that Bale run is the one I am referring to. It is the one from Arsenal where their was a debt about the similarities.

The gif I was referring to had the same power, athleticism and pace, which I made comparison to. However, the end product was not the same which is why I did not make a comparison towards that attribute.

I think they care about saving face and won't sell for less than that...
Now the de gea price could be inflated to compensate but the president probably does not want to take a loss on bale as it will make h look bad

If they are getting De Gea, we should short change them and simply offer 30 million+ ddg for Bale.

The danger is we loose de gea for a free next summer but at least we would get to have him another year.
Not the worst plan though however as we have Depay and Di maria I would like to see us offer de gea and cash for kroos or Modric and see if they would go for that

La Liga is a little too technical for him particularly when he has to play within himself to accommodate Ronaldo, but Bale is someone who could single handedly win us the Premiership - easily worth a world record fee.

Ogden did a interview with Utdreport and he was asked about Bale -

Finally, short and simple: Will Manchester United sign Gareth Bale this summer?

Mark: Probably. Nothing is ever certain, but United want him and Bale knows that. He’s also not overly happy at Real, so it isn’t the wild fantasy it may have been two years ago.
