Gareth Bale

Wasn't he pretty decent playing CAM at Tottenham? I seem to recall him playing there quite a few times and playing quite well.

Yeah i recall him playing through the middle in the final season for Spurs and was often the furthest man forward. Think it was probably only after christmas though, not entirely sure.

Go watch Iniesta right now, or any highlights from the previous five or so years.

Kaka at his best was a much more deadlier player than Iniesta, bigger, stronger, faster, better shooting, 10/10 passing, he probably was a better dribbler too.

Hmm, something we could potentially explore if he comes here then? I think we need a player who can cut through teams.

Depends on the rest of the team around them. Off the top of my head, looking at their squads and lineups right now, United, Real Madrid and Bayern would take Iniesta in a second, for instance, whereas Atletico, Juve, Spurs would be better off with Kaka.

Nonsense. In his absolute prime, every team in the world would have taken Kaka.

Kaka was definitely more of a goalscorer, just think Iniesta can get overlooked at times because of how star-studded his Barcelona side is, but he has remained an absolute class act for a longer period than Kaka ever managed.

Anyway there's little to nothing between them either way, they're both much better than Bale...

The argument shouldn't involve longevity if it's arguing who was better at their absolute peak.

Kaka was something else at his absolute peak tbf. He'd have been immense in that barca side had he been at his peak during those years.

Iniesta is better because he makes each and every players around him better, Kaka was a world class player but he wasn't the creative engine of the team, he was the spark who made everything explode. For me Seedorf-Pirlo were the engine of that Milan team.

Rooney once described Iniesta as the best player he'd ever played against, it's all down to personal preference.

This transfer won't happen this summer, I'm convinced of it. Perez would have to recoup most of the money and use it to present a new big name signing as a replacement. Not that Madrid wouldn't do fine by selling Bale and just adding a bit of depth. 4-4-2 with Isco and James wide and Ronaldo and Benzema upfront is a great (probably their best) formation anyway even without buying a Bale replacement for the starting XI. But Perez doesn't roll that way obviously. He has to find another "Galactico". Hazard is the only player who fits that bill right now but Hazard is going nowhere this summer. He has a new contract, is winning stuff and Mourinho won't do Madrid any favours anytime soon.

I dont hate Bale , would love to see him come here and I think he would soon be a firm fan favourite, dispite what a few think of him now.
I just think the price Real will want for him is the big stumbling block.

Yeah the price is off putting but who cares how much we pay we are Manchester United, it's not as if affects the fans personally in anyway, he would be such a game changer for us it's worth it, when I look at bale now I just see a unhappy low confidence footballer for various reasons, struggling to learn language, feeling left out of the dressing room, wife feeling homesick, kids wanting to be british schooled. If he came back to England we would get the bale that played at Spurs back I have no doubt.

Still prefer prime Iniesta to prime Kaka personally.

Iniesta is better because he makes each and every players around him better, Kaka was a world class player but he wasn't the creative engine of the team, he was the spark who made everything explode. For me Seedorf-Pirlo were the engine of that Milan team.
I'm not saying I prefer Kaka, just that how long Iniesta has been good shouldn't be a factor. I personally prefer Iniesta, which is no slight on Kaka who was remarkable at his prime too.

Top notch shooting from distance. I wish we waited one year and spend 60m on Bale instead of Di Maria. Now I don't think it will happen.

You dont pass up the opportunity to sign a player of Di Maria's quality. Its not our fault he's been a massive disappointment - he doesnt seem to give a monkey's about it either & looks like a player who wants out.

He's made an absolute fortune in his time here & he'll most-likely earn something similar, somewhere else, in no time of his choosing..

I'm bored hearing the burglary excuses too. I gather growing up in Argentina wasnt exactly a piece of piss - a helluva lot worse than a one-off event in Manchester, is my guess..

Yeah, obviously it would be stupid to blame anyone for that.

I agree with you about the burglary thing, definitely overplayed (hell, they broke into my house last year too!).

Di Maria's performance level was dipping before the burglary too. He was poor against Chelsea and City and Arsenal and then got injured.

Prime Kaka was an absolute beast. He destroyed us too. His prime just didn't last very long, but he gets rather underrated these days. He was sort of like a better version of Bale except he played through the middle, but he was every bit as pacey and powerful with a more well rounded technique to back it up and maybe not quite as good long range shooting. At least that's how I remember him.

Say Madrid do let Bale go, who are they likely to replace him with? Someone like Reus? Or will they spunk the cash elsewhere on someone like Pogba?

Can bale play at #9? That is the question that we need to ask ourselves. I say yes

Thats a good point Sonny.

It feels like every article or media comment; on Di Maria's collapse of technique & composure on the ball, is attributed to being burgled.. So he seems to have a cheer-leading squad makin excuses for him..

I just can't see this happening. He seems to give the impression that he wants to stay at Real.

When he signed for Madrid, the rumor was that it would be a 2 to 3 years experience, we are in the timeline. And with the situation he is in at Madrid, there is a chance that for the right price, we sign him.

Suppose but can't see it happening tbh.

I'd like Bale at United I feel he can really stretch teams and he'll be in a team where he can thrive but the question is will it actually happen.

Nonsense. In his absolute prime, every team in the world would have taken Kaka.

You'd really rather have time-traveling prime Kaka than time-traveling prime Iniesta at United next season playing for LVG?

Give me:

--------Rooney------
Memphis----Mata/DiMaria
----Iniesta-Herrera--
-----Blind/Carrick-----

over whatever mess we'd have with Kaka out wide or Herrera on the bench to get a 2nd DM or whatever we'd end up with.

Fit does matter when you're talking about 2 incredible footballers.

You put in Memphis?
IMO, he isnt good enough to play in a "dream team" scenario, which includes Rooney, Carrick, Di Maria, etc...he needs to prove himself, first.
Right now, I'd rank him next to Januzaj (ie. bench warmer, who may come good in 1-3 years).

With regards to Bale, apparently there is a good chance he will play for Man Utd next year.

I'm disappointed that Di Maria looks set to leave. I think he is definitely Man Utd quality and next year, could come good - especially in the CL games. We should definitely give this guy 1 more year to prove himself.
Falcao is the only player who I feel isn't good enough to wear a Man Utd shirt.

You made out in your original post that a prime Kaka would have been a fit for Juve, Athletico or Spurs. I know Juventus are in a CL final, but you've picked out three teams there from below the top tier. My point was, if a prime Kaka was available, every team in the world would want him. His prime was short, but he was world class. Barca, Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea, United, PSG, would all be after him.
