The only thing we can do is make Real Madrid offer more money more quickly. I think Bale would chose them over us if both teams offered the same personal terms anyway. And more importantly than that, we can't match what Real are paying, and if we do, then it's a game changer not for just this season, but for the future.
Theres no reason for Moyes to not rule out going for Bale if we weren't interested. He all but confirmed it.

The "we're in for the best players" line is the same thing he said when asked about Ronaldo at his first press conference. I wouldn't take it too seriously.
The only logic I could see in United bidding would be to bump up the price for Real, and then maybe force them to sell someone like Ozil to us to recoup some cash.
My prediction in the newbie transfer prediction thread was that our only signing of the summer will be Gareth Bale on deadline day. I'll be fecking Nostradmus if this comes off, however unlikely it might be. Look it up if you have got access.
