Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

I've no idea either to be honest, it seems like our keeper dilemma is more important than the world record transfer at the moment.

I honestly hope you guys get Mata in part of the Rooney deal. This will make it much more easy for me to hate them again!

I honestly think you'll benefit from this deal aswell, not really convinced Chelsea will though. Don't think Rooney is the easiest guy to coach, and knowing Mourinho, things could go sour really quickly.
I don't think we're selling Rooney tbh, but I'd have Mata here in a heartbeat

I've not been paying attention to this at all. How official is it? I've not seen anywhere claim that he's actually signed yet, but the Beeb's reporting on it seems to think it's a given. What's the craic?

Supposed to be unveiled on Tuesday

And previously the deal was supposed to be announced Friday or Saturday...

Last day of the transfer window, I say.

What's the most reliable source for this?

My bad. I thought there was reputable sources reporting it would happen on Tuesday, just the unreliable AS - although if the stage thing is actually for a signing then it does look pretty inevitable.

Some rumor says Tottenham are interested in Hulk to replace Bale. It's a rumor but still funny
I'd be happy for him, Villas-Boas would be happy, and Tottenham fans would be happy as well.

Bale has always struck me as a shy and humble type, still maybe I'm missing something.

I dont think Rooney will have a problem fitting into the Chelsea especially given the fact that Mou and him love each other and want to work with each other and lets be honest, they do have a better squad than us but if Mata is in anyway involved in this deal, we HAVE to jump at that.

He is still a good player. If then sign Lamela and Hulk, then they will still have a very good squad and make the top four. Maybe next summer they will focus on improving their defense.

There are rumours that Arsenal have bid for Lamela, which apparently has come from a reputable source, although I can't seem to find where the story originated from - Glaston should be on suicide watch if he signs for Arsenal.

I don't get it. So he drives a car with a personalised plate. Hardly the first footballer to do so. I'm a shy and humble guy and I have a personalised plate on my car. I don't see how the two are Lynked (sorry for the pun, couldn't help it).
That, plus the ridiculous outfit pic, plus his trademarking of 'his' celebration leads me to believe he isn't the prince on the white horse you want to believe he is.

The Independent were reporting yesterday that it would be happening on Tuesday.

When Bale signs it will take Madrid’s spending over the last 10 years to more than €1 billion. The 24-year-old is expected to be presented to fans on Tuesday.

According to the AS wing of the Spanish press.
Madrid still want it to be under the £80M/€96M and have sat at £78m/€91m
Spurs want it be over the 80/96 record.

So it stalled on a principle of sorts, while they try and find a way so both sides can say what they want to say. I wonder if they'll go for something like a UK£ record that isn't a record in Euros :smirk:

Sky Sources that Spurs haven't accepted Madrid's offer and that Spurs are considering offers from more than one club. Doubt anyone else would pay anywhere near £86m though.

That would be hard to believe at this late stage, with the shirts on sale and the stage erected! Madrid have a match tonight, I think? That is presumably another reason why there's a bit of a delay.

Imagine if we come with a £30m bid now, Spurs won't know what hit them.

I doubt another team is in the hunt. Just Spurs trying to get Madrid to bump the fee by a few millions.

I don't think Madrid will fall for the bluff.

Cheap stuff from Spurs there. Like any other club would consider spending that kind of money on monkey.

Not so sure tbh, can see PSG or Monaco willing to spend that money

Even if PSG come in with ridiculous bid, Bale is set on Madrid and seems to have agreed personal terms with them. He'd just turn down any other team.

I doubt Monaco would be willing to spend that kind of cash after a very busy summer already. Also Bale wouldnt even consider joining one of those clubs. He wouldnt be able to play alongside his biggest idol there.

They just want the cash as soon as so they can add a few more players this week. This is a done deal, no doubt about it.

Probably a bluff by Levy if what jojojo posted, about Spurs wanting it to go over £80M, is exact.

I just hope it isn't us with a cash + player (Nani?) offer, that's the only thing I can think of. Barça isn't going to go in for him, neither are PSG at this moment, same for Chelsea... Eventually it could be Monaco, but if there is any reality to the 'new bidders' news, then I guess we'd be most likely to be them.

But yeah it sounds more likely that Levy is just trying to bluff.

So will Ronaldo still be the most expensive player or not ?

Depends what way you look at it. I think the € to £ is slightly better now so if it was say, £81m then yes in £ but no in €. If it was £78m which it seems Real are unwilling to go above because they don't actually want to break the record for Bale, then no, for sure.

Surely he should just stay out there if he's agreed terms. What a waste of time flying back.
