Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

None of that means he is spineless. It's problems within the club that led to AVB's demise, not a lack of courage or anything on his part. Plenty of managers, more experience than him have been destroyed by the Chelsea dressing room and boardroom. He lost the dressing room because of the fact he wasn't spineless and had a backbone, utilising his own ideas when the senior players were against them.

I hear you, but disagree with you.

I know what a shit club Chelsea are to work for, you just have to look at the amount of managers it has gone through. ;)

If Madrid had so much money after throwing 71M€ (Carjaval, Casimero, Isco and Illaramendi), Bale would already be in Madrid. It does not seem surprising that they also had to sell for around 71M€ (Pedro Leon, Callejon, Albiol and Higuain) while getting rid of Carvalho and the loanee Essien. They're also pushing Pepe, Arbeloa, Coentrao and Di Maria and out it seems. Don't they already owe around 590M€ and caught the attention of the European Commission for all of their shaddy financing ? Where would the added 100M€ for Bale come from ? If, a big if, they're negotiating for installments over 6 years it confirms how fuc*** they are financially, which would put Tottenham in total control of any negotiation. They already brought Carjaval and Illaramendi with huge installments payments...

Real Madrid always prefer instalments - cash is what made the Ronaldo deal so unusual.

But they don't have a high debt level - see
http://swissramble.blogspot.ch/2012/04/truth-about-debt-at-barcelona-and-real.html
for the gory details.

Using the UEFA FFP definition of debt their debt level runs at around 124m Euros compared to Arsenal's (for example) of 129m. The 500m + is a bit of red herring.

The EU inquiry relates to land swaps. Perez is a construction man and Madrid own plots of land all over the city (bequests, old playing field etc). He has the good judgement/luck/dodgy contacts that when he trades land including trades with the city council he tends to win, though maybe only ten years after the original deal. The complaint now is over a trade done a decade ago, in which he swapped cheap land for other cheap land - except that the Real Madrid bit may now be worth about 20m due to planning changes.

They're saving their cashflow pennies to upgrade the Bernabeu, stick a roof on it and add some shops etc. That's why they're so keen on stage payments. A bank loan for a construction project in the current economic crisis is one thing, a bank loan for a new player is politically incorrect.

As think discussions at the Baldini - Sanchez level have stalled with a ballpark figure of 120M Euros being floated. However Perez currently doesn't plan to show up for a meeting on Wednesday in Florida with Levy with a 100m quid in his pocket.

They believe that Perez is talking with Joe Lewis (Spurs owner) and is trying to pull the price below 100m Euros, probably by offering player swaps (Coentrao and Di Maria are the most likely) as an alternative to the 20m a year idea. Businessman to businessman.

Probably nothing but they've replaced Dempsey and Bale from their Official twitter account with Lennon and Dembele. And we know Dempsey as gone.

This thread is just Glaston being a cock. It's barely even about Bale half the time, just a deluded Spurs gonk somehow trying to lord it up on a forum about the biggest club in the country.

I bet he's seen as a daft spacker even on his own clubs forum.

 I laugh at how adamant Glaston was on Bale staying.

I know this hasn't happened yet - but, I think we all know it'll happen eventually.

Must say - looks to me like RM trying to unsettle the player via the press. Quite true that Real do not have this kind of money and any attempt they make would have to be heavily based on future payments... payments they will quite possibly default on.

Where do you get that idea?

No, I have people to do that sort of thing. But since you like them, here's the latest one:

@SpursOfficial: We might change our Twitter background image again - hope nobody reads too much into it. WARNING: another change is coming! #THFC

It will be a big pic of Bale with the words "THANK YOU BALE" printed across it.

You're swapping him for Ronaldo

I have taken a screenshot from BBC - this could excite you lads - unintentional revelation of hidden knowledge?

I'm not sure why opposition fans try to take the piss regarding Fellaini when everyone knows if he actually signed he would improve a title winning squad.

Seems odd.

You are in dire need of a superstar MF who will be around for years. Fellaini isn't that.

No, he's not, then again if no one else is available there's no denying he improves the squad in an area that needs improving. Would certainly settle for that whilst the search continues. Not sure why it's so amusing in fairness?

Well on that logic you could sign Cattermole and he'd improve you.

Because we've spent a summer pursuing a world class midfielder in Fabregas and one who will in all likelihood be world class in Thiago. People are always going to find it amusing if we then sign Fellaini because it'll be seen by others as a massive step down, or our club having to settle for second/third best.

So it's better not to improve and persist with a glaring fault? If players aren't available what can you do. I'd sooner the club strengthened when possible, especially when we play so many games per season.

Fellaini would improve us, however, he isn't the sexy signing everyone wants. I can't for the life of me see what's funny about it, especially when it's obvious even if Fellaini is signed when the superstar does become available United will still be in a position to acquire him.

Nope, but I can't help but feel that SAF had a bit of short-termism about him when he splurged on that striker and didn't sign a midfielder. He's left it to Moyes to sort out and he's having some bother.

It's the idea of splashing £20m on a player who isn't that much better than what we've already got which puts a lot off.

I know fees are getting ludicrous, but £20m is not loose change.

It's the opposite of short-termism. He knew he wouldn't be around much longer and has let the new man sign the midfielder he wants.

Fergie is to blame for leaving Moyes with work to do in midfield. We've been crying out for a midfielder for about 5 years.

Exactly. He wanted to go out with a league trophy rather than leave a stronger squad.

If he'd have bought a midfielder instead of VP, and we hadn't won the league, would that have been cleverer?!

I'd say the way the Rooney thing has panned out, with an average season, more massive question marks about his fitness and commitment and now this agitating for a move, it's a bloody good thing we did get VP.

Maybe you should worry more about your own house over at Arsenal first eh?
