Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

I dunno talking cocks sounds about right in a Garath bale thread

According to the paper, during a night out/dinner party, several senior players voiced their concern at signing Bale for such a high price. Several of them asked "what about us?" (as in, if you've got so much money how about throwing more our way?)

Perez to ESPN:
We talk to a lot of clubs about players. Out of respect for the players, the clubs and their presidents, it's not right to talk about names or money. But 100 million is a lot of money, for anyone.

Well he's changed his stance, went from saying that for some players you'd pay whatever it took, to saying that 100m is a lot for anyone, that suggests that Real don't want to go near or past the €100m mark, which makes a mockery of the stories about them offering £100m to £120m.

Read that too. what a cnut.

Typical Madrid.

Getting bale all wet by splashing out "we want you at any price, you are a superstar!", upsetting him at Tottenham. Now that he's trying to force himself out of the club they are tightening the purse strings.

I'm glad Perez has said that. Yes, i know its part of the overall strategy once they have turned his head, but at least we will have less of this bullshit about bale being worth £80m or even £100m. Its amazing how daft the media fans are, the random £85m got banded about only because Spurs said they wanted a world record bid, Madrid never mentioned this. This meant the Media could use the '100m EURO' figure...which somehow got 'mixed' up into £100m and people thought it was genuine.

Bale if sold will go for closer to £60m than £80m and you can quote me on that ;-)

Where do you get this unfounded notion from? Marca? The Daily Star?

Just a gut feeling. No smoke without fire i'm afraid.

Same situation with Rooney. Magic injury keeping him out of the pre season games, advertisements not including your best player, he has hardly turned round and denied hes leaving either.

Even the most die hard of fans must realize its not a good thing.

Not the same as Rooney by a long chalk.

Bale has not said even once that he wants out, whilst for Rooney it's the 2nd time he's either threatened to leave or requested an exit, as Fergie publicly confirmed at the close of last season. And there are no adverts from which Bale has been withdrawn except those which were scheduled for withdrawal (e.g. NBC's Times Square billboard).

It's true that Bale has not denied any interest in RM, but then I wouldn't expect him to do that (just as I wouldn't expect any other player world-wide, bar those that play for Barca, to deny any interest in RM). So yes, if a bid were to be accepted by Spurs then I imagine that Bale would happily sign for RM for obvious reasons. But that is not the same as saying that he's unhappy at Spurs and intends to cut up rough. On the contrary, Bale is a model professional, unlike Rooney.

You say: No smoke without fire. I say: A lotta lotta smoke (most of it coming from Marca) and very little actual fire.

If Bale is trying to force his way out, he's doing so fairly discreetly. Unless Madrid make Levy an offer he can't refuse, I suspect it'll be another Ronaldo situation, with an agreement that he can go next summer if Spurs don't qualify for the CL.

Haven't they already rejected 85m?

We have no idea. Madrid haven't said what they're bidding. Spurs have said that he's not for sale and even if he was it would be for a world record. Somewhere the English press decided to throw in a figure of 100m, which the Spanish press picked up on, that's Euros or quids depending on who you read.

The strongest rumour I've read in Spain from a serious reporter was that Madrid were contemplating offering 60m Euros + Coentrao/Di Maria. The other rumours are all around this 100m (120m Euros if that figure was in pounds) that Spurs apparently asked for.

AS/Marca are now saying that the only players Spurs are willing to include in a deal are Jese or Morata (maybe on top of 100m Euros?. They also say that Levy didn't meet Perez in Florida as planned, presumably because he didn't like the offer. The Spanish press still think there'll be a deal, but Levy won't make it quick or easy whatever Bale or AVB want.

Meanwhile rumours of disquiet in the Madrid squad are emerging, about the money involved and the effect of such a dramatic change in the first XI. A poll of Madrid fans said they should be bidding between 60 and 70m Euros no more. So I don't know quite how eager Perez is about shattering the world record.

I'm going to put my neck on the line and say I think (and hope) Madrid can't actually afford at the moment what we want for Bale, whether he's worth it or not, especially as I don't think we'll accept anything over a long period of time.

Also, it was Zidane who said he was worth more than the 80 million Real paid for Ronaldo, not someone from Spurs.

There's been some rumours (probably bullshit) that Real still owe us most of the Modric money and that they haven't been great in their repayments so far.

Bit strange that all the 'inside sources', including a fly on the wall in a room with just AVB and Bale, are starting to dry up. Will be very interesting to see how this goes over the next few weeks.

I'm pretty sure this is standard Madrid tactics- mention a fee, get the player hooked on the idea of a move, then say the fee is too high...

The majority of the money will be generated from the ronaldo sale so I'm sure they can afford bale, just typical madtid negotiation tactics.

If they sell Ronaldo, then we're likely screwed, whether this summer or the next.

I don't think they're selling Ronaldo this summer though.

 Another ridiculous itk.

We unfortunately have more than a few who spout complete bullshit. For some, its gotten to the extent that you can be almost 100% sure that the opposite of what they've said will happen will happen.

I don't think Zidane actually said that, I think it's a paraphrase "quote" - in the interview I saw, he was asked if he really thought Bale was worth more than the 80m Madrid paid for Ronaldo.

He answered with something like. We don't give up on a player. Not just because of the price. He's a great player.

Unless there's another interview out there.

There's a good chance it's made up (like 95% of the stuff said about Bale and Madrid in this window) but certainly the noises about a record breaking bid seem to have been louder from their end than ours.

Our team is top notch at the moment, we don't need Bale right now anyway. Especially for that price being mentioned.

There's also no way Morata is leaving either when we're trying to form a core of young Spanish players, I don't think they'll want to make the same mistake as with Mata.

Great. So we keep Bale. You realise this late on, making a bid for and acquiring Suarez. Arsenal and Liverpool don't have the time to bring in someone good.

Win win.

I wouldn't be angry if Madrid paid a few million to keep that nutcase away from our team.

Now Madrid seems a bit out of the race we should try our luck. 25 mill bid should do the trick.
