Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

feck's sake, I say let him run down his contract and come to us on a free. Let Levy really regret being this greedy and make him look like a clown for turning down so much money.

I'm honestly starting to hope we don't pay more than 50-60m for him now, especially since we don't really need him anyway. This is getting absolutely ridiculous now...

You support a silly club, you silly goose.

I'm not sure who is more daft in this case.

Madrid bidding 85m or Spurs thinking of reject it.

Why do you think Madrid are going so crazy over bale? Just asking because I don't see the urgency personally. If you guys are keeping Ronaldo and if it's true - it just don't make any sense. Maybe Madrid wanted to make some kinda statement to City, PSG etc but what's the point?

This is fecking retarded. 85mil for Gareth Bale? Christ..

I actually hope Levy is mental enough to not sell at this price. Just as a feck you to Real. And then Spurs finish outside the top 4 again next season and he has to sell him for 25mil less.

I can't believe that Spurs will let a bid like that sit for a week without responding..
Wouldn't be surprised if it was all Madrid laying the groundwork before the actual approach.

Didn't Marca have Ronaldo on their cover for 30-40 days straight in 2008?

Only Madrid can do something which'd make Barcelona deal for Neymar a bargain.

Equally they could use brinksmanship .... Not budge at all and let it stew within Levy that the bid could just as easily be withdrawn. If Madrid have offered that, thats what I would do. Levy has to blink first. He simply has to.

Think this will extend beyond the start of the season, much like our foreplay with Chelsea and Rooney.

I don't know how Spurs finances are but Levy strikes me as the type of man to cut off his nose to spite his face. It wouldn't surprise me if he genuinely doesn't sell simply because he said he wouldn't at the start of summer. Added to the fact it's their 'friends' Real Madrid bidding and tapping him up.

This. Although I believe Levy will make the boy beg, right to transfer deadline day. It gives his ego a boost.

He'll probably flop there, you know.

I mean how could an £85m signing not be a flop unless he turned into Ronaldo and banged in a goal every game?

Yup, as good as Bale is right now, but there's no way he's better than Ronaldo when he left us for Madrid.

Crazy, crazy deal.

He should only accept if bale is desperate for the move.

What about our endless pot of cash? Why have we not matched the bid?

85m for Bale is criminal. He's had one incredible season and is worth that? this has flop written all over it IMO

I can't decide what would be funnier, him going there and completely flopping, or Levy rejecting the offer and him having a crap season this year, with Spurs finishing outside European spots.

If we end up paying more for Bale than we did for Ronaldo I can't disagree with you on this.

Exactly, there is no point. This is just silly money for a player who hasn't even proved himself at a top club.

I hope there is a slight chance that all these stories are just fabricated bollocks by the press, because I can't believe the people running our club would be that stupid.

Both would be good.

It's also easy to forget that last year was also pretty much his first season where he didn't constantly suffer injuries.

The whole thing is bonkers.

He'll have to change his game. He even has 4th highest shots per game in Europe at 5pg with Ronaldo in first at 6.9pg

How do people expect Madrid to line up with Bale in their side? Does he play centrally? Does he play on the wings? Does Ronaldo play as a forward?

For what it's worth I thought the Madrid of 11/12 was one of the most well balanced teams you'll ever see, and although its obvious they're going in a different direction, I get the feeling it won't be as good as it looks on paper.

They probably won't use a forward and it'll basically be an interchanged four of Ronaldo, Oezil/Modric, Isco and Bale.

I can't see how Ronaldo and Bale playing in the same team can be anything other than bad though.

Unbelievable. Levy should hold out and see how far they'll go, get a few players in return too.

Ronaldo won World player of the year, off some Premier league medals and a Champions League medal as well as having 3 consistently great seasons, one being world class.

Bale scored 26 goals... and now they've bidded more. How would that make Ronaldo feel knowing he could be bought for £5 million more than him?

Wow. Spurs have to accept that. It's a mental deal. I don't know what Madrid are thinking.

So once they realise he's not Ronaldo we can sign him in a couple seasons for half the price right?

Bad for the opposition right? It's like having two Ronaldo's on the same team, only one is less good.

Matches like that don't always work. Ronaldo is bound to throw a hissy fit when his goals to games ratio is fecked by Bale.

So,

Bale-Isco-Ronaldo
Benzema

with Bale and Ronaldo swapping wings and Di Maria, Modric, Ozil on the bench? Thats ridiculous. They'd be better off leaving Bale and playing Ozil in the center with Isco on the right/left. Madrid are tools.
