Gareth Bale Transfer Speculation | Done

Yep, Bales "figure" is what it takes to Tempt Spurs into selling really... Does not mean he is the worlds best player just because he cost the most.

I personally will be shocked if Madrid actually do stump up £80M. I can see it being closer to 60.

Glaston always gets the rival thing a bit muddled. He's right to not want to sell us Bale, but not because we are rivals. We are not at all (at the moment). But there's nothing wrong with Spurs thinking they can catch us on the playing field in the future. A few years ago Bayern Munich fans would have laughed at Dortmund for thinking the same thing.
Dortmund are a huge club for German standards though. They have the second biggest stadium in the league, a huge fan base, used to be very successful in Europe (won CL in late 90s). They were far behind Bayern for a while because of mismanagement but they always had the potential to get there.

Spurs on the other hand have a 40k stadium, aren't really recognised as a top club in England and even more so Europe, haven't won a major trophy in ages and haven't challenged for one in ages either. United on the other hand have been extremely successful for the past 20 years. It'd take an extra-ordinary collapse by United in the next couple of years for Spurs to catch up and even then there are three teams who'll likely finish ahead of them - Arsenal, Chelsea and City.

spurs are about to land deal of the century here.

madness.

Sky Sports chat so much shit these days. I'll believe it when I see it.

Given that Ronaldo was 80, albeit several years ago, this is so overpriced! Ronaldo at the time was twice the player Bale is now. Crazy money!

They'd be idiots if they didn't. They could get 3 extremely good players with that money alone plus the budget they already have.

With that sort of incoming monies, Spurs could easily out bid us for any player they wanted, Fabregas and Modric included. We need to move sharpish .... a cash rich Spurs in the latter half of the transfer window would really change the market.

Haha, they've done most of their business with Paulinho though, may as well hold all that money until next season!

Sometimes I think Real bid these amounts purely to upstage Barca.

They definitely do it to make a statement. Could have easily started the bidding lower, but there's the "we're Real fecking Madrid" attitude when it comes to getting big name players, especially with Perez. It's almost as if they take pride in setting transfer records.

If this is true, Levy is proving himself to be the top numpty in world football. He has always been a candidate but this nonsense will show him to be the Champion numpty.

That money should be snapped out of Real's hands and a big thank you delivered. One player, is not worth that. With three good players for that money, at least you have a stronger squad. Strong squads have proven to be the difference in this league.

 If Fabregas joins Spurs, I'll throw myself off the roof of White Hart Lane live on the Caf.

Yeah, common logic doesn't really apply to them.

Anyway, I hope they get him, mainly to get him out of England, but also cause it'd be funny to see them bend Spurs over and go "feck you" to their agreement last Summer.

Silly money. Great player, but nowhere near Ronaldo and never will be. Can't believe they'd offer that much. Just shows how crazy Madrid are when it comes to getting what they want. They could surely get him for £60m or less I'd believe. But, balls out straight away again. Spurs will take it - hopefully his career doesn't go downhill over there (and hopefully Ronnie comes home the big baby :D).

Not really. If that's Real's first bid then they are clearly desperate and expect it to be accepted. They will be stunned if its genuinely refused. There is also no way a couple of extra million would put Madrid off getting their man.

This offer is reportedly, take it or leave it.

I wouldn't want United to pay more than half of that for him:lol:
If Spurs don't accept this then they are absolutely retarded. Perez is an idiot for wanting him so much, will be hilarious to see how he reacts when he realizes that Bale is nowhere near ronaldo's level.

They're like the total opposite to us aren't they? We offer £26m for one of the worlds best in his position, increasing by a few million and some cheeky addons every now and again, they break their own transfer record straight away on one of the worlds best in his position.

It'd mad by Spurs to reject that sort of money. He's a great player but no way he's worth £85m, I doubt Madrid would ever come back with that sort of money if they got rejected here even if Glaston values him at £165m.

Equally they could use brinksmanship .... Not budge at all and let it stew within Levy that the bid could just as easily be withdrawn. If Madrid have offered that, thats what I would do. Levy has to blink first. He simply has to.

Think this will extend beyond the start of the season, much like our foreplay with Chelsea and Rooney.

On the plus, we'll likely get Bale for cheap sometime in the future if he goes to Madid.

Also, does this mean we can have Ronaldo?

Danny boy will laugh at £85m bid, lying on the beach in Miami.

So who will Real be off loading to fit him in? Or will they just move Ronaldo up top?

feck's sake, I say let him run down his contract and come to us on a free. Let Levy really regret being this greedy and make him look like a clown for turning down so much money.

I'm honestly starting to hope we don't pay more than 50-60m for him now, especially since we don't really need him anyway. This is getting absolutely ridiculous now...
