Gareth Bale | Linked with United again

There are several Madrid players I would personally take over Bale, either a loan deal or no deal and for the money Madrid would demand it would simply be better put towards where our real needs are namely in midfield,if we are going to reel off a few names then hopefully the list includes the likes Savic,Kroos,Isco,Hamsik,Verratti (i know)!

It's one of those funny cases where everybody can see that the player is constantly injured, unreliable, rejected to join us before and on top of that Madrid would ask great money for him and the player himself would demand big bucks, yet you see people who'd still want him here. I genuinely never can tell whether it's a case of total delusion or idiocy.
Yep they don't even know what position he'll play. They just want the big name

Signing him would cause more problems for our medical staff instead of the opposition we face.

That’s being optimistic.

You do realise not many youth prospects make it at United? Possebon, Petrucci, Januzaj, Daehli, Vermijl, Macheda... the list goes on.

I want Chong and Gomes to be a massive success here but to turn down the opportunity to sign world class players at the expense of hoping they become world class themselves is madness. If they’re good enough, they’ll play. And if they don’t make it, it won’t be because we signed Bale or Kane or whoever.
Januzaj was the only player from the list that had a chance of making it as a central attacker and imo Chong is a even bigger talent. I just hope he has a better head on his shoulders in comparison to Januzaj who thought he didn't need to train hard once he had played in the first team a few times.

Chong imo is the best wing talent i've seen at the club since Ryan Giggs. He deserves a chance on that RW to showcase his immense talent. You talk about United DNA, this kid has it in abundance.

Totally agree. I'd be a waste of resources.

If we have Jose in charge then I don't see us signing him. I don't remember Jose signing injury prone player before, especially for a huge fee and wages.
Oddly I think the exact opposite - Mourinho would see him as a perfect signing.

-------------De Gea-------------
Valencia--Bailly--New CB--Shaw
--------------Matic--------------
----New CM----------Pogba----
Bale---------Lukaku---------Sanchez

Like I said it's not my money so if we can get him and he's only fit 50% of the time that still looks good to me

We really need to upgrade Valencia, we shouldn't be going into next season with him as first choice. He's practically on his last legs and i dont think TFM will be ready just yet.

I would be happy if we swapped Bale + Modric + Navas for De Gea.

Lets be honest, De Gea wants to leave and Mourinho prefers experienced players.
United get a proper LW/RW, a decent replacement GK and a midfielder far superior to what they have. Not to mention the 'galactico' signing that sponsors crave so much.

I would have even added Ronaldo to that list but apparently, Mourinho blames him for his downfall at Madrid.

He's a crock that's past his best, we can't be this stupid, let some other club be the mug that funds Real's summer.

I would take him for anything less than 45-50 mil (with some addons) and play him as a #10 like he does for Wales. Granted I'm in the 4-2-3-1 camp is our best way forward and I don't want to derail the thread.

Lukaku
Sanchez-Bale-Martial
Pogba-Matic
New LB-Bailey-Lindelof-Valencia
De Gea

That's a very very good side, especially if you can add an Alex Sandro or another top level left back to the mix.

That front 4 looks very strong but it leaves pogba playing as a part of a 2 again which we know just doesn't work.
I would leave Lukaku out and have new centre mid ( or at a pinch Herrera ) next to magic to free up Pogba

Football fans are not known for being geniuses...

Real only sell players they don' need or want anymore. So no from me, not only that the cheeky shits would want DDG in some sort of deal?.. he's 28 or 29 and injury prone. Utd would be mad after he opted to go Real in first instance. I think his time is coming to an end.

Another winger, who have become injury prone, currently on a long contract and have rejected us, back to the most physical leg-busting league while for sure he will ask for a high salary, and Real asking for unjustified money.

Naah, promote Gomes and Chong.

Not really. If he wanted to leave, he would have been gone by now.
Jose or Utd don't try to force players to stay.

You could see it in his body language after the Sevilla game.
If he signs any long term contract now, he will be stuck with Manchester United forever.

He is 27 years old now, one of the top-3 keepers in the world and has only one 1 League title.
Unfortunately Europa League (twice) and Domestic cups are not really considered Elite prizes. Players want to win the Domestic League or Champions League.
Look at Alexis Sanchez: he won the FA Cup twice but yet considered Arsenal to be going nowhere.

Thanks for the comment. I thing personally speaking that Pogba is lazy defensively due to a lack of positional awareness and focus (but that is a different topic for a different thread). I would still contend when you get players of Bale's quality available, then its worth exploring the option depending on the price. My lineup still has a few issues with it, but it still represents a better lineup personally speaking than what we currently play.

Unless he becomes a centreforward, there’s no way his body will be able to endure a return to the pace of the Premier League.

If Woodward sanctions this, he’s a moron and should be demoted back to exclusively commercial matters, with a real football man hired to make football decisions.

i do not want us to sign a Madrid reject, only to see them investing that money for a better talent.
Having said that, I think Jose is big admirer of Bale, and in big games where we look to counter attack, Bale can be a real differential. But we all know his injury issues, so if we can get a loan deal similar to James deal, it can be a good option. Or 35M plus if Bale is willing to take wages cut, we should consider it. He has great finishing and crossing, which would be a plus.

If indeed we sign him, we should sign another RW ( or have a plan B ready) when Bale is injured. :D:D

Couldn't agree more with this, very astute as usual!

Mahrez would make more sense; Bale has complained about playing on the right at Real, prefers the left or a free role. Huge upgrade on Lingard obviously but still doesn’t solve that genuine lack of width on the right.

According to Ballague they probably want to sell Bale this summer but it’s unclear if anyone is interested. He says they need to sell one of BBC before they can buy.

Considering his wages and injury record, the fee would have to be nominal for anyone to go for him IMO.

Have people not seen this guy play? The only answer to do we want him at United has to be:

Gareth Bale managed to get Real Madrid supporters, probably the worst fanbase of any major European club on his side through his performances. That alone means he would be an excellent signing. Plus, I mean, anyone with two eyes and a brain who watches football knows he's a world class player.

Yeah but we'd be getting him on the downward slope of his career and with his injury record and wages, the risk/reward on a massive transfer fee might be a bit too tilted towards the risk side.

Anything under 100 million, they should do the deal.

This would be my dream signing, but only for a reasonable price, considering his injury problems.

I love Bale and for ages he was the player I wanted us to get but with Alexis coming in I just can't see where he fits in.

We've got Martial, Rashford, Alexis, Lingard and Mata. Who like to play in those positions in and around the centre forward.

If we play 4-3-3. We'd play Lukaku, Alexis and Bale so the 4 above us sit on the bench.

We could play 4-2-3-1 and accommodate one of them but then we have the problem of Pogba playing in a two man midfield.

And finally...we'd have Alexis and Bale both at 29 getting old at the same time.

Not for me. Too many injuries. Getting on a bit in age too. Holding midfielder e.g. Rakitic should be the priority in the summer transfer window
