It's been a long time since GOT was even vaguely in the conversation.
Though I will say it's a good thing The Wire wasn't super popular at the time as that last season would have been ripped to pieces on twitter.
Was pretty close for me up to season 5. But I thought maybe a strong ending might give it a chance, not anymore though.

It would have been interesting to see the reactions to the Wire if it did air now. Haven't seen it in a while, but there isn't much to rip apart.
Not the GOAT for me but the fact that it took this season for a statement like this to be made is worrying for you.
There was never any doubt that the Wire was a superior show
The entire McNulty-fakes-a-serial-killer plotline was ridiculous and totally out of keeping with the true to life tone of previous seasons. As long as you ignore Brother Mazoune that is, who was also a very silly character.
Also, in a scenario where The Wire was released now, I can only imagine the reaction there would have been from self-appointed TV critics when Omar gets popped by some random kid.

Dany in full heel mode will probably try to kill Jon. He refused her love, so she has no reason to spare his life now as his name is a threat to her. And Arya will (try to) kill her. Otherwise Aryas angle in KL would make no sense at all.

Don't see why people are surprised they've been setting her up for this for a long time.
Aside from the cut short last scene, were people complaining about the last season? If anything, it was the other way around and most people saw it as a return to form.
The Wire would have, rightfully, caught a lot more shit for its last season in the moment. But it did also get that during the airing, just in a more measured way since people were writing articles or on dedicated Televsion message boards instead of 280 character tweets and memes. Of course the audience would also have been a lot smaller, nothing compared to what GoT is.
Yeah, it doesn't count if he didn't know. They moved the position of an entire fecking city this season, so I doubt they would care about retconning this as well.

I would agree the wire went downhill last season too. Said it before but its over rated around here.

Maisie Williams was quite literal when talking about the scene. She said, more or less, Arya saw the horse, hopped on it and escaped the city.

That episode managed to be really fun and enjoyable but incredibly stupid at the same time.

A "Arya was a ghost for this entire episode" ending would 100% be worth it just for the reactions.
Burnt his hand and he was worried he might not be able to fight. He was given Longclaw directly after by Mormont.
They didn't even have to make up that ridiculous shit, they could have him die on the ships while trying to take down the dragon. It would have been more fitting for him, an Iron Born, to die in the sea.
But I'll be honest, apart form that I thought the episode was very good and delivered greatly.
Along with taking not one but two spearings through the midsection would have surely resulted in death quite soon thereafter, and certainly have rendered him unable to move much. Wasn't like Jamie was jabbed with a friggin pocket knife. But there he is walking around barely injured seemingly.
