Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

I still think Stannis would have been the best king for Westeros. Respected and distinguished military commander from a respected Western house, tough but never unfair, relentless but also honourable. It’s a shame the battle with Boltons went the way it did. Stannis with Jon Snow by his side would have been the best way to unite the kingdoms and secure peace.

Apart for his thing about burning people, including little girls, too of course...

One thing's for sure after this season, the Wire still remains untouched as the GOAT.

It's been a long time since GOT was even vaguely in the conversation.

Though I will say it's a good thing The Wire wasn't super popular at the time as that last season would have been ripped to pieces on twitter. :nervous:

That was already apparent.

Was pretty close for me up to season 5. But I thought maybe a strong ending might give it a chance, not anymore though.

It would have been interesting to see the reactions to the Wire if it did air now. Haven't seen it in a while, but there isn't much to rip apart.

D&D: “Stannis burns his daughter in the books.”
Stannis: “A lie. Take it out.”

The entire McNulty-fakes-a-serial-killer plotline was ridiculous and totally out of keeping with the true to life tone of previous seasons. As long as you ignore Brother Mazoune that is, who was also a very silly character.

Also, in a scenario where The Wire was released now, I can only imagine the reaction there would have been from self-appointed TV critics when Omar gets popped by some random kid.

All a bit off topic, mind.

Can you imagine the people in this thread during the last season of the Sopranos?

Only if people were too dumb to understand even the most basic principles of the show.

So yea probably.

So what's the next big thing within television when this is finished? Want to jump onto the next bandwagon (no comic book shite).

Finally got around to seeing it. My favorite bit is Tyrion liberating his brother. So much love between those two. It’s ironic how the actors playing the Lannister’s have given us much more rounded and moving performances than let’s say the Starks.
Daenery’s going full Ragnarok has been foreshadowed for long time, yes, but they hadn’t really done a good job of developing that madness in this season. We needed to see more of her losing her mind before.
Agree with this

Jon or Arya killng the Mad Queen would be most logical but then again too simplistic. There's definitely a big twist. Or maybe Dany will try to kill Jon first.

Dany in full heel mode will probably try to kill Jon. He refused her love, so she has no reason to spare his life now as his name is a threat to her. And Arya will (try to) kill her. Otherwise Aryas angle in KL would make no sense at all.

So I'm guessing the aimbot for the scorpions were turned off for this episode.

Despite the flaws I quite enjoyed that episode.

The obvious answer is Arya, followed by Jon. But she just killed Jaime and Cersei and Tyrion will want some retribution and could become the QueenSlayer... the big question is how they'll deal with Drogon because right now with Drogon she's untouchable. The scene with Jon patting Drogon last season might provide us with that answer, he might not want to burn Jon if Daenerys issues the command. Greyworm spotted Jon trying to stop his soldiers attacking during the siege though so I imagine Daenerys might act first.
Can Jon be burned though? Being Targaryan and all that

The like/dislike bar and the comments. Have to laugh at the salt.

Don't see why people are surprised they've been setting her up for this for a long time.

Aside from the cut short last scene, were people complaining about the last season? If anything, it was the other way around and most people saw it as a return to form.

The Wire would have, rightfully, caught a lot more shit for its last season in the moment. But it did also get that during the airing, just in a more measured way since people were writing articles or on dedicated Televsion message boards instead of 280 character tweets and memes. Of course the audience would also have been a lot smaller, nothing compared to what GoT is.

He wasn't aware that he was a Targaryan back then.
Yeah, it doesn't count if he didn't know. They moved the position of an entire fecking city this season, so I doubt they would care about retconning this as well.

Ye're deluded if you think GoT isn't going down as one of the all-time great TV series.

A sticky last series isn't changing that.

I would agree the wire went downhill last season too. Said it before but its over rated around here.

That episode managed to be really fun and enjoyable but incredibly stupid at the same time.

Euron vs Jaime being the height of that stupidity.

They didn't even have to make up that ridiculous shit, they could have him die on the ships while trying to take down the dragon. It would have been more fitting for him, an Iron Born, to die in the sea.

But I'll be honest, apart form that I thought the episode was very good and delivered greatly.

Along with taking not one but two spearings through the midsection would have surely resulted in death quite soon thereafter, and certainly have rendered him unable to move much. Wasn't like Jamie was jabbed with a friggin pocket knife. But there he is walking around barely injured seemingly.
