Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Exactly
Makes me really annoyed.

Don't think you'll find one person who thinks that was a poor episode, just when people have calmed down and look at the storytelling objectively you'll understand that having the Whitewalkers die like that at this stage after 8 seasons of build up was rather... tame. It's great for the casual viewer no doubt who doesn't really give a shite about the story. But I mean cmon, the end was dumb as feck, it also became very obvious two thirds of the way through that episode that the Night King would die because there was zero chance for any of the characters to retreat. That killed all the tension for me in the final third of the episode.

Don't remember seeing them tbh.

Thinking about this today, and they don't serve Danerys, or Jon for that matter. They serve Sansa. Perhaps Sansa sent them away.

Nah, I saw people with the blue vale symbols on theirs shields at points during the battle. Guess the actor was unavailable or they simply removed the scenes he was in from the final edit.

As I say, as a war episode it was good but the story. It has honestly not made me give a shit about the rest of the show now

NK walked up to Bran I thought 2 things could make this immense:

1) NK kneels in front of Bran
2) When Bran looked up, his eyes were actually blue

Though, they could have done both obviously.

But no. Somehow that annoying twat jumps out from nowhere where none of the main bodyguards saw/heard and kills the NK and everyone else. Joke.
In what way did she jump from nowhere? The scene was literally set up ten minutes beforehand.
Why are you surprised she can sneak past guards? They have rather painstakingly demonstrated Arya's abilities regarding stealth and killings over several years.
So, basically, because Bran and the Night King don't appear to be allied (which would be odd given the events of season 6) it's bad writing in your eyes seems to be your main point.

should've ended like this

That would have been cool, but would have made no sense plot wise. It would have just been a freaky plot twist for the sake of it.

I agree it all felt a little too easy at the end, but overall it was still a great episode.

It just seems a little eh in terms of the whole building up of the WW.

Don't get how people are saying it was easy. What are you wanting? Feel like any way he died would have been "easy" to some people.

The entire tree was surrounded by the dead, they showed us that from Theons perspective. The Night King and White Walkers enter through the wall of the dead after killing Theon but Arya somehow manages to sneak through and kill him Assassin Creed style? I have no idea where she came from? The Tree? I dunno.

Did anyone spot that white walker acting shifty before it cut to the NK about to kill Bran. I think Arya could have been him.

Also pretty cool that Bran gave her that dagger and they foreshadowed her kill move when practicing against Brienne.

I was going to ask this. Did he just see her coming or was it her?

Lord Yohn Royce. As I saw someone say, his only purpose in the show seems to be talking to Sansa before being interrupted by a major character, then saying "M'Lady" and leaving with a stern look.

Yes. That does seem an unrealistic way for a shape changing super assassin to kill a zombie king in a magic forest to save a raven wizard.

Aye, he's meant to be some badass though but totally ignored poor fella. Oh well. He probably hid while the fighting was going on.

What @RedSky said. The tree was my thought after but just the idea he didn't see it coming and I am sure it looked like she jumped from behind him when there was nothing but walkers there

Holy shit, that was a lot to take in. Only one dragon survived right? Was it Jon’s or Dany’s? Not too many big deaths overall. Can only think of Jorah, Lady Mormont, Jon’s night watch buddy, and the dude with the flaming sword. Oops, forgot Theon. Anyone get a body count?

Theon!

How the feck can I go to sleep now?!

I feel exhausted just from watching it

Theon dead as well, don't think either Dragon is dead. Jons looked pretty beat up and got scratched up but not sure it was dead.

May as well just have Arya perform her jump stunt off a Dragon and assassinate Cersei whilst playing the lute.
Yes. That'd be just the same sort of thing wouldn't it?
If only they had spent the time setting up that Arya was a, literally, supernaturally stealthy and effective magic assassin, it would've felt like an irrelevance which direction she appeared from.
But no, they just went crazy with this previously ineffectual character.

There were some moments of ‘good guy surrounded by a million bad guys and somehow survive’, which I don’t know why writers corner themselves into. Jon seemed completely surrounded by the dead when they all got raised back up again. For a second I thought they may actually surprise everyone and kill him off, but nah, he got away. Somehow.

Both survived I thought. They didn't explicitly show any of them dying so assume it.

Plus these writers are clearly just doing fan service. May as well just bring back Ned somehow and Joeffry so Ned can kill him this time. Yes I'm still bitter the NK lost, and them to die like that

She has a whole serious dedicated to her assassin training sure, its not that hard to grasp

There are two dragons in the trailer of the next episode. They're both alive I think.

Also that end was a bit tame and.. Anticlimactic?

No, he survived. So did Brienne...

I think the final death count was

Jorah, Lyanna, Theon, Eddison (Nightswatch Commander), Beric (Flaming Sworddude).
Lyanna? As in Jon’s mom, Lyanna? How could you tell that was her down in the crypts?
