Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

I should note I've enjoyed the last two episodes so I'm not moaning - only saying why it was a bit jarring to see Arya like that. Part of what's always been good about GoT is that it doesn't shy from uncomfortable scenes. They've never been afraid to make us watch things we're not expecting to see.
Careful Ted, that might offend some of the gerls.

Edit: feck sake meant to reply to the comment about lovely arses

So are we allowed to start a death pool, or would that be against the rules? I know that
generally being miserable tossers over every single thing in the show seems to be fine, but trying to enthusiastically guess what's going to happen next is a no-no?

My guesses
Brienne, Gendry, Greyworm, Beric, Jorah, Tormund, Theon, Ed, Lyanna

I reckon
a lot of the peripheral characters will go next episode but no major shocks just yet. I mean Brienne and Greyworm for starters. They might as well have had an "I'm dead next episode" tattoo on their faces.

Nice.

I've gone a little nuclear I think.

Varys, Ser Jorah (although they better fecking not), Tormund (same), Missandei, Gilly, Pod, Beric and Theon. AND Sansa and Bran.

Yeah I can see all of those except
Sansa. Surely there has to be a pay off to the needle with Daenerys?

don't think they will kill off Jorah after all the shit he's been through just to survive what he has. Brienne is a gonner for sure though.

The majority of people in the battlefield next don't have a cock!!!

Theon, Varis, Greyworm and the whole unsullied army. Probably the white walkers also don't have a cock!!

"Battle of the Cockless" should be the name of the next episode.

I'm sure you're right, but I just want them to kill off one of the Starks and to be honest she's the most useless one. Which is ironic given that she's the best actor out of the three of them

Varys conspicuously did not get any lines or character moments in the last episode, which leads me to believe he'll survive.

Grey Worm, Jorah, Beric, Melisandre, Varys, Gilly and Shireen 2.0

I would say Bronze Yohn will get the chop but he'll probably be talking to Bran when the Night King arrives in the Godswood, Night King will be like "I have to speak to Bran", he'll nod and walk right out of the show (as his part seems to consist of solely walking out of the room before important convo's.

I reckon Varys survives as he wont be seen. Hes defo not going to go into battle so I cant see how he would die unless its with a whole load of other people (which you would reckon Tyrion too).

Would be funny if we see that little girl who wanted to protect the crypts die.

I think Bran will die but maybe not next week. I think Sam will survive it all to write the story of what happened through the seasons. TBH history doesnt need somebody who can view everything from past and present and future at the same time. So I defo say Sam survives over him (which could mean Gilly going)

I do think Jon or Dany dies before the end of the season.

Possible Jon & Danny resolution...

In the big battle, something happens where Jon is overwhelmed by a load of wights and the night king, Danny has no option but to get Drogon to burn them all. The dust clears and all that is left is a naked and undamaged Jon. Danny sees that he is a true Targ and they live happily ever after as king and queen.
Not bad

Becuase were invested in it. To be fair I enjoy watching the show. It's just that I hold it to high standards (like the first season or two) and it regularly falls short of that. I'd even suggest it's pretty consistently dipped in quality over the seasons. Still, it is great fun and as I said, one is invested in it as a whole.

What I will say is that I don't connect with its characters enough as others do. For example, all these characters they were giving emotional space to, I really don't care much for. But that's a theme with GoT, for me. My peak emotional investment was during the Stark Vs Lannistor seaosns 1-3 period. After that, I've always felt the show has had a vaccum of interesting enough characters/stories for me to identify with, other than Tyrion who until season 6/7 was a magnificent character. I never felt the others were quite as interesting as the show wanted me to believe they were.

So yeah another moan
at least your criticism has thought behind it and not sitting like kevin the teenager saying " it's not fair it's shit now", is it not part of tyrions arc that he is not as clever as he thinks he is.

I think it will end up being the complete opposite. The theme of the show in my opinion is the birth of magic, the show started with White Walkers, Dragons and Magic all being myth and legend. During the show all of these things have risen to become huge forces, the end of the show all of those elements will have perished reverting Westeros back to normal. Therefore anyone/thing with a magical connection will end up dead. Westeros will have reverted back to a dark age after most of the infrastructure and population will have been crippled after years of War. Inadvertently Daenerys will have broken the wheel without even having to lift much of a finger.

They all die in the battle and the season comes to an abrupt but pleasant finale

Bittersweet = everyone dies at Winterfell and the Night King destroys King's Landing. Episode Four is Cersei and Euron escaping to Essos but being killed by a Faceless Man hired by The Iron Bank. Episode 5 is the Night King's Army picking off the remaining farmers, peasants and children. But Episode 6 is just an hour and a half of funny cat videos.

Then the last cat takes off her face to reveal Arya who then dies of an STD she got from Gendry.

The dead take control of westeros and all the survivors have to go north of the wall and become wildlings.

Decent speculation. My theory is that
duffer stops using "Danny" when referring to Dany

Is @Cina banned here? Why hasn’t he posted in ages?

(I’m only wondering as another discussion board I frequent has a Game of Thrones forum and a ‘Cina’ is in there moaning about people moaning about the new season. Surely it’s our guy, no?...)

Thought the second episode was brilliant. Helps having less focus on the weaker actors (Jon and Dany) whose strengths lie in the big setpieces, and getting plenty of time with Tyrion, Brienne and Jaime interacting. Really good set up for the battle of the next episode (that the living surely have to lose?).

Haven’t read yet what the responses are on here, but I imagine there will be lots of typically over the top moans. The criticisms of the first episode were fair in some senses, but went ludicrously overboard. My favourite were the people getting angry about the lack of logic in the show in the most illogical ways (it’s not going to get exactly what you want it to be). I think it’s just a sign of how emotionally invested people have got in the thing. Fingers crossed the final run live up to expectations, with plenty of shocks and twists. Which will be less shocking the more you read the analysis of the show... I might take a break from reading the theories from here.

I see, I don't think any of them were listening so it still stands. I don't think they're prepared for dragons.

They'r expecting Wights, walkers,Giants even... but not flying.

 it definitely doesn't still stand. Everyone knows they have a dragon.

Probably the most bored I’ve ever been watching a got episode. I really liked the first episode but this one just ground to a halt for no reason. We literally have 4 episodes left why are they wasting time on some of these useless story lines.

Best episode in the show to date, masterpiece of character development and cleanly finalising character arcs. It was perfect as a calm before the storm, epic, neat and emotional hitting all the right tones. The quality has definitely gone up a gear since the "meh" of last season, as Stephen king also tweeted earlier.

I'm not saying that he's the type of creepoid that would bring up sister dick sucking apropos of nothing (I mean wtf?) but the ep probably spoke to his penchant for writing awkward sex scenes.

Possible dead dragon killer?

Whatever happens, surely the people with stuff left to do won't die. They'll at least try to tie everything up properly no? We aren't going full Lost here are we?

I mean they definitely heard it but I’m not sure it fully sunk in, it seems they all ignore brans rambles as crazy man talk.

I still expect him to come swooping in on the dragon half way through to dramatic effect.

I see what you did there ;)

How is that strange? He’s got a dragon he’s clearly going to use it
No what is strange is you clearly ignoring facts and making things up to fit your strange theory.

If the battle turns on the fact that they forgot to prepare for the Night King having a Dragon then it will be the stupidest thing to ever happen on TV.
