Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

So have been told that there's a plot leak video avaliable on YT. Apparently the leaker got it right last season too.

So what do we do? Blanket bans on theories? I'm not sure what can be done here.
I don't think you can ban theories because people enjoy speculating, as long as they're in spoilers right?

Can't really account for robin some twunt posting leaks as their theories unfortunately. If someone wants to do it they'll do it regardless of rules.

The second paragraph is what I'm worried about tbf but you're right it's impossible to enforce it.

the only safe option is to avoid this thread and Got across the internet in general, which is hard to do :(

Modding this thread is the hardest thing to do. Something got spoiled for me last season because some person posted a spoiler and obviously it got reported. I had no idea what it was and opened it :(

you also gave me a warning for insulting robin but in light of what happened after that I feel hard done by

i imagine this thread is a nightmare between the books and all the spoilers and leaks online, yeah!

@KM - can you not let someone from the mod team who isnt a GoT fan mod it? As for spoilers, perhaps a new thread and push all spoiler discussion in there? I dunno, at least those of us who dont want to look at spoilers know we'll be safe in here. *shrugs*

It's hard for those who haven't watched the show to know what to warn or what not to warn as they've no idea.

Regarding the second thing, I've an idea of making a new thread for season eight and make it a rule for people to give a headline of sorts as to what they're writing in the spoiler tag.

Is speculating a warning as well then now?
Robin was also 'speculating'

The point is that it's damn difficult to assess what is a genuine speculation and what is information gleaned from leaks being passed out as speculation.

I'd suggest put everything in spoilers or just use the thread to discuss the episode that is aired and have a convo with people whom you want to discuss the direction the future episodes may take.

True, I mean I’ve seen the mentioned YouTube video a few months back and given the trailer I’d say there is a leak out there and that I know how this season is structured and outcomes. However I’m not a prick(debatable) so wouldn’t say anything without making sure people or person is aware I know what happens.

It would just seem weird if people are having a discussion speculating and someone gets punished for that but I see your point given the Robin incident.

@KM I tend to keep upto date with GoT spoilers. I'm happy to keep an eye out for people posting spoilers and notify you or other mods?

There in lies his dilemma, I could do the same but if we say hey that’s not speculation that is one of the leaks then it confirms it for KM. they might be better not knowing at all.
There is also the chance that someone might genuinely guess right.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that the White Walkers are not the antagonists and that they have a perfectly plausible reason for wanting retribution for something that was done to them.

I was thinking something similar myself, that it will be a bittersweet type moment. The viewer will be made feel empathy for the WW / Night King, something like T2 where John Connor said "It's in our nature to kill ourselves".

Obviously they're gonna kill off a load of characters this season but I honestly find it hard to predict who will remain alive at the very end. I always thought Sansa, Tyrion and Sam were good bets to survive. The rest? Not sure.

Add Arya to the survivor list.

She's the only one with a free pass apparently, we shall see though.

I've got another question that needs answering - thanks for the guys who answered my other questions (and @robinamicrowave who pm'ed his answers!)

As I slowly rewatched some scenes on youtube to remind myself of where we are, I remembered the below:

Renley died, obviously. But what was it that actually killed him? It looked like a ghost, heck it looked like Stannis. Was it Melisandre working her magic? Seems quite a handy fecking thing to use. Why wouldn't she have summoned that on the Lannisters?

Becareful of Robin, he's the one that attempted to spoil all of last season for the entire thread. He's a naughty lad.

Yeah it was Melisandre, not sure why she didn't continue to use it tbh. They never really explained it.

They did. There was a scene in S3 where Stannis asked her to do it again and she said he wasn't strong enough to have another "child", which is why they went and kidnapped Gendry.

Why are we using spoilers for this?

She didn't use it because she needed Kings Blood for this magic to work and apparently Stannis was 'weak'.

So whose blood did she use it with Renley?

So whose blood did she use it with Renley?
Reply was killed by the shadow baby she made with Stannis.

She then uses a leech on Gendry to get his blood for killing the other kings.

Its a different question whether she killed the other kings or was their death something she saw in the fires and uses the info to gain Stannis' confidence.

Imagine the only reason they are invading this time, is cos Gillys kid got stolen from them breaking a truce.

Heading into the final season of HBO's Game of Thrones, there had been rumors that the six Season 8 episodes would all be feature-length, spanning roughly 80 minutes.

That rumor proved to be partially true, with HBO revealing the runtime and the air dates of all six Season 8 episodes, three of which are at or over 80 minutes long with a fourth that comes just short.

The first two episodes, though, are more traditional in length, first reported by Entertainment Weekly, coming in just under one hour.

The first episode, airing April 14, will run 54 minutes, the shortest episode of the season, while the second, on April 21, spans 58 minutes.

The rest of the episodes will essentially be 'feature-length,' with the third episode on April 28 spanning 82 minutes, the longest of the season.

The fourth episode on May 5 will be slightly shorter at 78 minutes, while both the fifth and sixth episodes on May 12 and 19, respectively, will run 80 minutes.

Something big gonna happen episode 3 it seems.

Half way through the fifth season now. i'd almost forgotten how big a drop in quality it is compared to the first four seasons. Seriously, feck all worthwhile happens in those five episodes. I enjoyed rewatching the first four seasons a lot but this just feels like a total slog.

Thank God I at least have Hardhome to look forward to or I'd nearly let the missus watch it on her own.

It was him who wasn't strong enough. They needed royal blood for powerful blood magic. Thus, Gendry.

edit: ah, I'm quite late to the party, this has already been corrected.

Yeah, GoT used to proceed by actions and consequences, but once they outran the books it switched to arbitrarily jumping from plot point to plot point, with inconsequential nonsense and awful dialogue in between.

Read in metro spoilers for episode 1 already leaked online

So watch out cos people will out in in random places like YouTube comments or forum predictions etc

GRRM is a gardener who lets characters dictate the plot. D&D are letting the plot dictate what the characters do.

Fcuk man, first episode is leaked.
I am going to stay away from reddit and all other similar outlets.

Last season was really spoiled and I hated it...

The plot of the episode is leaked or the actual episode itself?

They're also letting the plot dictate the geography of the story too, as well as the numbers of people involved. Big shortcuts to making the show a lot simpler to write.

I'm still an advocate that Cersei should have been the one to demand to see a wight.

Jaime gets captured at the Field of Fire, sent back to King's Landing after talking with Tyrion (who persuades him that there's a bigger war coming). Jaime talks to Cersei when he returns and they both agree they need evidence. Then they go over the wall. Fight a WW, all his wights die, then they run. Thoros dies but they keep his wight body alive, show him to Cersei.

It's the same story but less messy and out of character/tone for the show.

I don't get the logic in Cersei needing to see a wight, given that she has an 8 foot tall zombie walking around everywhere behind her. Surely she's the one monarch that just might believe in the dead rising.

I'm also not sure why people are worried about spoilers. It's not going to make any fecking sense anyway. It's like being worried about someone spoiling the results of a coin toss for you. Surely people are just watching for tits and dragons and not taking the story serious at all any more?

Actual Episode ... Rumors of more leaked episode on www

Plot if actually leaked as well, entirely. The sources that claims it to be the original plot of season 8 are the same who leacked season 7 plot. It was 100% correct, just a few scenes were shuffled.
