Didn't spot it myself during the last episode but I love details like this...

Bolton bastards!

The final episode kind of saved the series to be fair. I was ready to throw in the towel as episode 9 was just horrific losing two of the best characters in one go and revolving around the two most unlikeable characters. I was left not really caring much but then I put the last episode of season 1 on and thankfully focus switched more to the likeable and interesting characters rather than the cnuts. The ending of the series was done well and I must admit it did leave me wanting to see more so I am now just halfway through episode one of series 2 which I am quite surprised to be enjoying more.

I do have one question though. When the feck will winter actually arrive? They have been banging on about it constantly since the first episode.
Winter is coming is the Stark family motto. Basically be prepared! But winter is coming, the seasons are quite long on westeros.

Was there much point to showing her old and wrinkly again?

She took off the necklace to reveal her "true self" during a serious crisis of faith. She'd invested all of her belief into Stannis' cause, only for that cause to fail pretty spectacularly after she burnt a child alive. She'd identified Jon as an alternative during s5 because she detected something special within him, but upon her return to Winterfell she found him dead on a table. She even says herself to Davos, "The victory I saw in the flames, all of it was a lie". At the beginning of s6 she's doubting not only her powers but whether the Red God exists at all, and in the end it's Davos who has to talk her round.

Remember that scene from s5, where Jon asks Mel whether she's cold considering she's only wearing her dress at Castle Black, and her response is to say the Lord's fire keeps her warm and to press his hand to her cheek? She spends all of s6e1 in huge scarves and winter clothing because she's hit rock bottom so hard that she no longer feels her god living inside her. Mel's old and wrinkly form represents her giving in to her very lowest point. Her faith is somewhat restored after Jon wakes up, and once the Stark banners unfurl at Winterfell they cut right to her because it's her vision that's come true.

There's even the scene before the battle for Winterfell with Mel and Jon in the tent discussing her faith and his resurrection, and in that scene she admits she has no idea what the Red God wants from her, that she's a conduit and nothing more. Once the battle is over, Davos demands she be executed for burning Shireen and Jon gives her a chance to defend herself ("Do you have anything to say for yourself?"). Instead of defending herself she just admits she's been ready to die for many years, which is a pretty concrete reference to the fact that she's old and wrinkly underneath.

There's no need to bring it up again because her crisis of faith has been dealt with, and now she's weaving the Lord's web in Daenerys' direction. Maybe if she dies at some point she'll turn into her old and wrinkly form before she gives out her last breath, but until that moment it doesn't really make sense to do it.

Would u bang her knowing the truth? Even in her disguise

Damn, I spent half of today thinking it was Sunday and I had GoT to look forward to. The hazards of a 100hr workweek...

I'm really excited for this episode, I think
just based on the season structure (and Chekhov's gun), this should be a dramatic episode.

Do we know what has happened to Jon's direwolf? Is it alive or dead?

No Miguel sapochnik episodes This season, shame
Did he direct the shame episode? And which other ones, if you don't mind mentioning..

Battle of the Bastards and Winds of Winter. Two pretty damn good ones eh?

Edit: plus Hardhome, almost the holy trinity then.

He did hardholm and the last two episodes from season 6, easily 3 of the best 5 in the shows lifetime

Damn.. That's an impressive list.. Then add me to the people who are disappointed that he couldn't direct one this year..

He's alive, just off-screen. There was supposed to be a scene between Jon and Ghost in the last episode but it was cut.

Are deleted scenes released after episode? I though it was done after the season ended..

Bryan Cogman, producer/writer for the show, tweeted that had a scene but it had to be cut.

Will probably be released after the season or on the boxset.

Tyrions speech when he demands trial by combat in s4 is just fantastic. Simple but fantastic.

The bit where he says he should have let Stannis kill them all is great.

Fantastic. Also one of my favs:
"Watching your vicious bastard die gave me more relief than a thousand lying whores."

As he directed it to Shae AND Cersei. A 2 for 1.

Rewatching scenes from season 2. Had a question. Why didn't the white walkers kill Sam when they saw him?

So Jon Snow was the 998th Lord Commander of the nights watch. The new guy is the 999th, who will be the 1000th? Did someone say prophecy? Will it be Bran?

So I was watching some random Seth Meyers video on Youtube and realized that the show has not said anything about *that* plot shock point where they showed Melisandre morph into this old woman. Have I missed something that they may have showed in the show or did they never really bother with it after picking up some cheap points on the shock factor?

I remember watching that scene and having so many questions. It opened up so many possibilities in my head.. who is she really.. is she working for someone else.. does she have a hidden agenda.. has she been sabotaging the whole time.. yet a lot of people seemed to think nothing of it, just took it for face value that she's older then she says and that's it. Maybe that's all that was intended.

Shes old and the lord of light keeps her young. She needs to be youthful looking to seduce people if shes gonna make demon babies and the like.

I never felt any implication it should be more than that, i always thought it was there to show how vulnerable she was at that point. Everything she believed in went wrong... so that was our chance to see what she really is behind the glamour, an old fragile woman.

There will not be a 1000th, as there will be no need for a nights watch when there is no wall and no more winter because the white walkers and humans made friends and lived happily ever after.

The explanation on the previous page by @robinamicrowave is fantastic tbh.

Also cant wait. 8 hours left. Seems like a long time to go.

Don't know if this is allowed but if anyone watches this live via a river would I be able to get a pm with the link?

Just thinking back, why didn't Ned demand a trial by combat?

Because he did not bend the knee like he was asked. Therefore, committing treason. Don't think there is a trial for that if you openly deny the king is the king.
