Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

When Jon was battering his faces with punches, I was thinking hes going to stop and let Sansa kill him or something. Whilst happy to see him die, wouldnt have been as satisfying.

To tie in the whole hounds was beautiful. At last, something satisyfing to an evil character like him.

I agree. I wanted Ghost to be in on the action but we cant have it all.

How would that rate in GOT all time episodes?

Surely top three in terms of top to bottom (if not a shout for best)?

When I saw Rickon, I thought: "Right, he's gone."

Then I allowed myself to believe he'd make it after what I thought was the last arrow missed him. Fecking Ramsey and his sniping skills.

The exact same thing with the Giant until the one into the eye. ffs. :(

I celebrated the Knights of the Vale showing up almost as much as Lingard's goal in the FA Cup final.

Sansa's made a deal with the Devil there though.

Whoever did most of the writing and directing for that Episode needs to do it for every episode. The battle scene with the people trampling all over Jon was unbelievably well shot .

Giant :(

The director was the same guy who directed Hardhome, Miguel Sapochnik. That guy knows how to do action.

Surely he should've hidden behind a cross.

Thats what I was thinking, there are burning crosses and youre not being chased. Go hide behind one and use that to protect yourself ahaha. But it was still well done. And sad :(

Yeah. I suppose when he got far enough though he kinda just thought he'd make it and just went all out.

Seeing a lot of people saying it's the greatest battle scene shot in tv or movie history ... Hard to argue.

I like how Tormund just casually bit Umber in the fecking throat.

Gut wrenching stuff. Poor neglected little RIckon was actually the character I was cheering for the most since series 3 when he left. His whole family abandoned him and then his families closest allies hand him over to Ramsey fecking Bolton. Bearing in mind the actor is the same height as Ramsey and Rickon is supposed to be 8 years old I guess it would have been hard to fit him into the story anyway

Wouldn't go that far. TV, maybe (although, there are a few in GoT alone that come close). Definitely not movies though, not even close.

I quit smoking but that whole episode makes me want to go for one. I felt so helpless when Jon was being trampled, the peril was so real. I think that is the best episode Thrones has ever had, possibly ever will have too. Whoever the director is (directed Hardhome too) is going on to big things, he's absolutely brilliant.

Name one you cared about more ? That was intense
So many war movies. This is up there, but it falls short on terms of scale.

Don't want to take away from the episode, but I don't think it was the greatest battle of all time.

Great episode overall. Battle scenes were fecking amazing. Sansa is gonna turn into one evil bitch. Another great bad guy character will be missed. :(

The only real lowlight was the laughable CGI with Daenerys climbing atop the dragon.

I thought "we've already seen Ramsey keeps a blade on him, he's going to stab Jon in the gut."

Seriously, Miguel Sapochnik, up there with Cary Fukanaga as two of the best young directors in Hollywood. Just pure, fecking amazing. Both battle were incredible for different reasons. The pure awesomeness of the Dragons reking shit and the claustrophobic nature of the BotB. When the wildlings panic and Jon is suffocating, I honestly felt proper dread and horror.

Can't wait to re-watch it in 1080p.

Again, take a fecking bow Mr. Sapochnik.

I loved this scene and the one with Jon lying down in a pile of corpses. Does an amazing job of showing what battle feels like in person.

Not top 5. Too cheesy. The deus ex machina with the army of the Vale to save the day was expected, but Jon, Tormund, and WunWun all coming together like the 3 musketeers and charging the castle alone was cringe worthy. And then suddenly even though their infantry had been mostly wiped out, dozens of archers appear to subdue Winterfell. And of course it's Ramsay that puts the final arrow in WunWun. Seriously?

It was like the battle of Cannae but written by an adolescent.
