Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Why did Cesei ask Grandma Tyrell to bring her army and not used the Kings own army instead? Seems a convenient way to weaken the Tyrell's themselves.
The King had ordered the King's Gaurd to stand down so as not to endanger his queen.
I think she wants some degree of separation. This way she can blame Tyrell's for disobeying his orders if he acts out.
It's another wedge to drive between them leaving him relying on her more and more.

I never thought I'd see a pair of tits which matched up to my girlfriends but Emilia's are pretty wowzers.. fecking hell.

As to the episode itself, probably my favourite episode so far in terms of pacing, script. It felt very natural, nothing was forced and it really set up things well for the rest of the season.

Bastardbowl has been confirmed, Dany will get her story back on track finally, even the scenes with Tyrion were quite interesting and showcasing him at his scheming political best and we had Littlefinger back.. feck yeah. Sansa looked amazing and her scenes with Jon were very intense and heartfelt.. did I detect abit of incestuous chemistry between them? Hopefully shit will also kick off big time in Kings Landing.. could we also see Dorne dragged into the civil war there. Hopefully High Sparrow and Dorne can get annihilated and we don't have to deal with them any more.

All in all a very solid episode and I hope the remainder of the series continues along this path.

This is not just another army, this is hundred of thousands of dothraki the horse fecker clan. Hooray Danny.

With Tyrion/Jonah/Unsullied and the westeroos alliance she'll gonna rock hard.

I have a feeling that the KL war will be swift and the majority of the battle would be whatever left against the white lurker. It's bound to happen, I don't see KL offering much to resist 3 dragons and dothraki

PS: Show us missandei's tits!

She's had 8000 unsullied & 3 dragons and got nowhere. Now she'll probably head back to Mereen & establish her rule by freeing the slaves. I expect her to make no progress to King's Landing despite building up huge numbers.

What ending did you lot expect? About time she starts kicking arse.

I agree, nobody has answered this. What were people expecting to happen (well those that say good ep except the ending).

I'm guessing the battle of the Bastards (North) and the conflict in KL will be the 2 major battles/events to play out this season?

I wonder if the Greyjoys, assuming Theon's sister take over, will offer support to Jon. I'd assume the Wildlings and the Knights of the Vale might have already given him enough numbers to defeat Ramsay.

Can't wait for the rest of the Stark reunions.

What bout the walkers though ? I think they will take over the Wall if Snow goes to fight Ramsey. No way, the Watch is strong enough to hold them off.

If I had to guess, the Walkers might, but we won't see much happening at the Wall the moment Jon leaves. I'd say KL and the battle of the Bastards will happen this season. Only next season you'll probably see Dany's attempt at overthrowing the Lannisters at KL, with more emphasis on progressing the WW story arc. And iirc, the final season would be 8, where it will build up to the ultimate battle between the living and the dad.

Yeah, most of what you say makes sense to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't show the walkers taking over the wall at some point though. I was always naturally assuming that that scene would be the cliffhanger to the season finale. Do you really think it's going to be as simple as Dead vs Alive in Season 8? I certainly doubt it. I expect some magic to be involved and the walkers to be ally with one of the kingdoms. Long shot I know, but that would be far more entertaining than a dead vs alive battle.

Nah of course GoT will never be that simple . I was literally just writing it in the simplest form I could think of, trying to summarise the major events/battles of each season. There are obviously quite a few other (smaller) stories/arcs which will run its course as well and I fully expect dragons, fire, magic (from the gods) etc. to all have its part, especially during the final battles with the WW. To be honest, I'd love a ending of the current season as you've suggested - with the WW taking over Castle Black - at least it shows their progress and close(er) they're moving. Hopefully, based on the preview for episode 5, we learn a bit more about them

That preview was awesome. One of the best I have ever seen. I couldn't tell if the Night's King could really see Bran or not. It will give a massive hint to the extent of Bran's powers. If he really could time travel, I would genuinely hate it though.

One has to be so careful with these discussions and spoilers . At least I'm learning how to use and edit spoilers properly ;) Yeah, I'm not fond of the idea of time travel because I'd be paranoid that it might give them a opt out to "undo" something in the past and change alot of the show. I doubt that will be the case though. Too good of a story unfolding to spoil it like that. But I'm sure we'll know a bit more about the WW's after the next episode. It seems the leader of the WW could see him :nervous:

Yeah, agreed. Someone here suggested the idea that it was Bran who was responsible for the rise of the Mad King by going back in time and whispering stuff into his ear in the hope he would change a decision. I loved the idea, but it would go completely against the grain of all the stories developed. Also with just 2 seasons left, I doubt they could really make it work that well without making it seem rushed. Also, did I mention I hate time travel. :p

Yeah, that guy who could see him is called The Night's King it seems. I saw it mentioned on the Game of thrones Wiki. Gave me the creeps too.

Certain Cersei is lying to Olenna. Either Tommen told her Loras was doing the walk of atonement or that Margaery was going to be freed. Maybe that they were going to be killed if they tried to free her. Or the Sparrows could know who's responsible for Joffrey's death.

All in all I can see Cersei's reckless behaviour costing Tommen's life. I was expecting Dorne but maybe the Tyrell's will kill Tommen as a revenge when the escape plan goes south and complete the prophecy.

I don't get watching the episode previews. Part of the fun is not knowing what's happening next.
I agree with you though I can see how it might bump up the excitement/anticipation if you see a character you like or potentially epic looking scene is involved in the next ep. Each to their own I suppose.

To be honest, I regret watching the latest one and wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is worried about having stuff potentially spoiled.

I just couldn't help myself and up until now the other trailers haven't been as revealing.

Won't be watching any more!

Yeah, but why didn't Grandma Tyrell question that?

I'm still not sure why the King can't send his army there to blitz them?

The king doesn't have an army. He has his Kingsguard, which is just seven men(including the Mountain) and he has the City Watch(basically the police) who are only a few thousand and made up predominantly of the low-born who support the Faith.

I think it was great that Sansa landed up at Castle Black right at the start of the episode. They cut out a lot of the unnecessary crap and got to where the story needed to get to. Same could have been done for King's Landing IMO. They don't need to have so many seems set to "simmering" mode.

He could try if he wanted to but Tommen refuses to send his army so another must be sent instead behind the king's back.

That's bizarre. If that were the case then the religious crazies and High Sparrow could overthrow the King and do whatever the feck they wanted all along.

Again, why?

Again, why?
People of KL have more faith in the Sparrows than in the Lannisters, he risks a civil war or even his army defecting. Religion in a medieval setting has true power that can't be underestimated.

If he takes action he risks endangering Margaery's life.

He already tried confronting the High Sparrow last season but saw that brute force was not going to be an easy solution.

He is a soft one, he wants to be a good king, be a good person (see the scenes with Tywin) and doesn't have the vicious and aggressive ways of his brother. Spilling blood is against his nature.

He is young, undecisive and advised not to pursue the violent path by his counsellors.

Feck all the other shit, potential romance between Brienne & Tormund will have me hooked for the rest of the season.

he's a pussy
If he's a pussy, surely he'll just obey his Mum when he orders him to do something?

It's a small gripe but this whole "hold" the religious have over everyone is a bit of a stretch, which I suppose is natural in a show with so many parallel stories.

And if the mother of the queen brings in her troops Margaery will be fine?

He doesn't know that and Olenna seems ready to take the risk rather than having her paraded naked in the street.

Speculative answers to your questions.

. Grandma Tyrell is either foolishly getting played, overwhelmed by her desire to get Queen Margaery and Loris back. Or she has a plan of her own once her troops are in the city. If she has other plans then it makes sense she would not just expose those to Cersei. If she is letting her emotions get the better of her, then she would not question Cersei since she is agreeing to the plan.

The King could send his troops, but what seems to be happening is that Cersei is trying to get others to do the dirty work and then use the outcome of that situation to her advantage, while avoiding any negative consequences that might arise from the use of force since the Kings (and thus her own) troops were not involved.

Pretty simple really.

They basically have already. The High Sparrow is currently the most powerful man in King's Landing.

Emilia Clarke's baps aren't even top three on the show. People need to calm the feck down.

1) Melissandre (Young Form)
2) Sand Snake who insisted on getting them out
3) Ros
4) Missandei
