Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Puberty has hit Rickon like a train

Direwolves falling :( But YESSS!! Feck off Olly.
"My watch has ended"

Some things we expected in this episode but for the good.

That's one of the nice things about this show, if you try to kill someone and feck it up then they're gonna get you back. None of this being the bigger person and forgiving the kid bullshit.

 At one point I was screaming at the screen hoping he doesn't give that little shit another chance.

Snow has come back a proper hard bastard, also line of the day goes to Tormund

(my post with smilies)

When he stopped. I was thinking noooooo dont. :nervous: Then he used his sword and I was almost :cool:and

Very good episode even if it was a bit slow in places, big improvement on Season 5 thus far.

Jon Snow means business now. I like how they did Alliser Thorne's farewell, he tried to make his move and lost by divine intervention. The Fat Sam and bucktooth woman scenes as usual are a drag, I love how they are drawing Tommen's impressionable mind to the High Sparrow now that he has a mentorship void. Arya's story picked up steam but God knows they'll probably drag Dany's story along Vaes Dothrak and the free lands for the rest of the season.

6.1 felt like a setup episode for 6.2. This felt like a reset to build up to another climax, but will require a few more episodes...

And here I thought I'd be over the moon at Alliser's death. Another awesome actor bowing out. Take a bow Owen Teale. This season's going at a million miles a second, usually the pacing is slow, then it all comes ahead around ep 8, but I'm loving the change.

Also Dolorous Edd is fantastic.

EDIT: The fight choreography between Ned's men and Ser Arthur Dayne was quality.

How can he suddenly decide to leave the night's watch? He, more than anyone, realizes what is coming from beyond the wall.

Think he realizes
That he needs a lot bigger fighting force, probably the rest of this season will see him re-unifying the North, then next season he goes after Kings Landing, then last season is setting up towards the big battle for the World.

It wasn't his decision: 'His watch has ended.' His death freed him from the oath.

Refusing to take the name Stark via Stannis means his only source of power now is from the Wildlings thinking he's some sort of God and installing a loyal commander to the Night's Watch, which he seems to have done.

Damn. Good finish to that episode. I hate waiting a whole week for the next episode. But I cant afford to wait even a day let alone a month to binge watch it because spoilers are fecking everywhere. College, work, friends, facebook, instagram, twitter, snapchat. First world problems!

I like that Aria' story is finally picking up pace.

The scene with Tommen and the High Sparrow seemed like a lot of cliched speak.

And why are they destroying the character of Ned ? As if killing the guy off wasn't enough now he's not even a great warrior and murders women? :(

Im still struggling with the fact there are so many story lines that in each episode we get about 5 minutes each story line. It feels a bit shallow and bitsy to me.

Arthur 'Sword of the Morning' Dayne was one of the greatest warrior in the history of Westeros. Ned was never a particularly impressive fighter.

FINALLY got caught up, rinsed season 5 yesterday and got through the first 3 of this season. Utterly in love with it, I love the pacing I am so glad they don't try and throw everything in at once.

If anyone requires explanation about the highly likely Tower of Joy flashback and Jon Snow's mum. It is speculation but let's be honest it is happening.

Just listened to it and it contains some book stuff too I think. Not wise to post here even in spoiler tags.

Why would Ned murder his own sister?

That was shit except for the last 10 minutes. Rickon stuff is very interesting and same with Jon leaving the watch.

Looking back Olly's storyline is one of the more tragic ones in the series.
  • His family and town get massacred
  • Runs to the wall for protection
  • Jon Snow trains him and Olly looks up to snow
  • Snow says he has to save the wildlings and Olly has to live with the people who killed his family.
Its kinda one kick in the balls to another for olly

Oh, I thought it was someone else in the tower, which is why the old man didn't want to see what happens.
No, it's because Bran would 'drown' if he stays in his visions for too long, and of course they don't want to give everything away in the first couple of visions I imagine.

Ned was a great warrior though, he held his own against Jaime Lannister in Season 1 for example, who's one of the best fighters in Westeros as well.

Jaime was toying with Ned in season 1. Besides, the fact that Arthur Dayne didn't cut him down in about 5 seconds was hugely impressive. You did notice how he massacred everybody else despite it being 5 on 1?

Yes, that's one of the reasons why I said that Ned was a great warrior.

Happy enough to see Olly dangle.

Gutted for Shaggydog obvs.

Not enough Dany, yet again. She's barely had 10 mins over 3 episodes.
