Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

Was expecting Hizdahr to be the leader of the harpies, turns out he wasn't. Dragons were good and the Shireen scene was unbearable, guess everything between them this season has been building to this.

When Daenerys went to pull the spear from the dragon I thought it was going to fry her / tear her apart.

Can't believe there's only one episode left :( I want MORE

And what kind of sick fecking pedo is Meryn Trant? Fully expect Arya to chop his cock off in the next episode. Any gifs/screenshot of the 3rd hooker during the whorehouse lineup?

feck, not the greatest episode imo but it's really starting to pick up. All the stuff I want resolved is coming in the next episode then -- the Stanis battle, King's Landing.

When they first introduced the Unsullied they made them sound like Spartan warriors like the dudes from 300. Total badasses who were trained to be elite soldiers since birth.

How are they getting killed like pussies so easily by a bunch of out of shape dudes in masks with knives?
They're battle trained for organized, disciplined war/fighting. Street fighting like the sons of the harpy have been engaging them in isnt their forte. Plus they've been getting ambushed.

Great episode. Looking forward to next week. Hope we get to see stannis and Ramsey square off next week

I wish Doran (the king of Dorne) would attack King's Landing and take the throne for himself. He's probably the most just figure in Westeros. I grew so much respect for him this episode, he truly is a great ruler. Even his son Trystane seems to be just and raised right. What's also interesting is that Daenerys is his sister-in-law, she'll probably have Dorne's backing if she ever get's to Westeros.

The daughter getting burned was pretty disturbing to say the least, those screams. I heard the worst way to kill someone is to burn them alive.

Drogon is the Phil Jones of dragons: goes to ground far to early and then inevitably gets himself injured.

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing....there were a shitload of Harpee but still, the Unsullied were dropping like flies. And Stannis is a cnut....what are the chances that when his hand comes back, forget the mans name, he goes after the witch?

That amazing but...they could have killed Dany so easily, they could've just chucked spears at her or fired a bunch arrows in her general direction.

I think episode 10 is going to be the big one. The sacrifice will probably create a nuke or Chuck Norris or something. The battle for Winterfell is going to be epic. I'm just a little worried it'll be decided by a deus ex machina rather than actual fighting or drama.

Does anyone think the king Daenerys was to marry had something to do with all of this? He was a bit late for the whole thing. Episode was good like all GOT episodes are but I expected something bigger for episode 9. The daughter burning was very disturbing. Makes me think Stannis is just mentally insane. I was a bit confused with the last dragon scene. Did the queen leave the rest of her gang for the masked people?

I think the Sons Of The Harpy had been routed by that point. They were only really interested in Daenerys anyway. Once she left, the remaining rebels probably would have retreated.

I doubt there will be a battle. Not enough money in the budget, and not enough for a season finale.

I can see this Stannis Bolton thing dragging on till next season.

They killed Hizdahr though, maybe he was working with them but what was the point of killing him then -- unless the sons of the harpy wanted to tie up loose ends.

May the gods help you, Stannis Baratheon, for now you are truly lost.

1. Feckin hell Stannis
2. I was fecking sure Trant was going to rape Arya. What odds on her volunteering to be tomorrows "fresh one" and poking him with the pointy end?
3. Surely Jorah has given Daenerys Greyscale? Just when he got back in her good books the clown!
4. If your man she married got stabbed and so wasn't part of the assassination, why was he late to the fighting?

Stannis you fecking bastard!

Good episode, but the harpies scene was spoiled in season 5 trailers, and it was kinda predictable that a dragon would save the day.

The finale better be epic.

Nah he didn't have anything to do with it. They were blatantly playing it as if it was him... his late entrance and speech about killing was a rather forced foreshadowing meant to make you think "that cnut" before he dies so you can think "oh he ain't a cnut".

Can't see any of tyrion and the guys dying. My guess is either the harpies numbers are to whittled by the dragon or they just aren't arsed to lose more soldiers when daenerys had already fecked off. I could be wrong but if they were going to die it would have happened already.... but maybe one of em might. Or they might he captured and held hostage?

I think we all knew stannis was either going to kill his daughter or die. Now he has done something utterly horrible he has every chance of winning.

My final ep predictions -

1. Stannis wins the battle for the North due to his sacrifice.
2. Arya kills trant but I feel the faceless man may need to come to her rescue.
3. Cersei... feck I want to say dies but I dunno.... some form of punishment will happen. Maybe she'll be forced to confess her crimes in front of the whole city which could effectively take away all her power?

Not sure I get the point of what they've done with Stannis. It's getting a little boring taking away the hope that a 'good' guy will finally get a win.

They've just made him completely unlikeable now and possibly means he'll win the battle and we'll lose two more interesting characters in Ramsay and Roose. I think they are well overdoing the shock aspects now tbh, this is definitely feeling far more tv writing now than book adaption which can never be a good thing.

At this point, I don't even care who wins the game of thrones. I'm more interested in the White Walkers.

Stannis' relationship with his daughter was the only thing keeping him likeable. Now he's the one true bad guy of westeros.

Thinking on it, that Olly kid said Tormund was the leader of the pack who killed his family, maybe he goes for him and Jon gets in the middle? I think he'll definitely do something, but I'm struggling to see how him doing anything to Sam makes sense story-wise.

I dunno, all he's done really is ask/talk about Jon and his decision to help the wildlings. I don't see any point in adding something like that to the Sam/Gilly story.

It's pretty obvious he hates Wildlings considering they butchered his whole village. There's been too many scenes now hinting he's unhappy about Jon saving the Wildlings for nothing to happen.

DROGON!!! Have been waiting so long for the dragons to become useful/play a bigger part. Hopefully Dany sets the other two free now she's such a bitch locking them away. Imagine how much more fun the season would have been with three tearing around. I think the scene was good but it was a bit too slow. There should have been more chaos and more fire. The part where she's surrounded they could have easily just overwhelmed her. I hope Drogon is ok after his injuries.
Really enjoyed that episode apart from the amount of child abuse going on. the battle in the North has turned into the battle of the biggest cnut.

Yeah, that's why I think he'll do something to Jon or Tormund, not Sam.

But think about it from Ollys point of view. He's an angry kid who's pissed at both Jon and Sam, he can either attempt to kill a well guarded big fecker of a wildling (which would probably result in his death) or... he could kill an unguarded wildling woman. Both kills send the same message, he hates wildlings and they shouldn't be south of the wall.

Maybe i'm just wanting Gilly dead because she's an annoyance.

I was also thinking this

Any special rules on killing a dragon or anything works?

But he's not mentioned Gilly or Sam has he? He seemed to get an idea from Sam, but I just can't make out where that would go and why? Aiming for Tormund or Jon would open up more posibilities, though I can't seeing Jon being killed off tbh.

And yeah, it'd be great for one or both of Sam/Gilly to go

Well he hates Wildlings, Gilly is a Wildling. Sam is a Wildling sympathiser, so that makes him just as bad as Jon from his perspective. I'm probably over reaching, but I could certainly see him going for Gilly if he wanted to send a message. Easier kill to make and would impact Sam and Jon just as much if Tormund or Jon was targeted which are far less likely kills to go through. Tormund is in the show for the long run given he's the Wildling chief now.

Famous last words!

But yeah I get the connection, but I don't see where that would go. All the kid has done is talk to both Jon and Sam about it and it's clear to me Jon is the target of his potential flip out. Until he talks about Tormund in the last episode that is.
