Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

To be fair he did spoiler the spoiler, and labeled it very clearly, so you would have been pretty dumb to have opened it.
Can't say that I wasn't tempted to have a look though.

Bunch of us were congragating at a friends house last night and we were all discussing GoT - we're all non-book readers, but one of my friends is one of those weird types who has to know how things end before he can start watching them (so before he goes and see's a film he'll read the wikipedia plot outline - I find it utterly fecking bizarre, but thats what he does) - it's also taken us years to train him to not tell spoilers, which he has an incredible knack for doing (Typing this, I'm starting to question why I'm even friends with him...). Anyway, point was - because I know he knows what happens in the books, I didn't allow him to add anything to the conversation at all - apart from discussing stuff that definitely has already happened on the show... to the point where I wouldn't let him tell me who he thinks George Martin's favourite characters are, because by virtue, he'd be telling me that those characters won't be dying any time soon...

That's how anal I am about spoilers - if I meet a GoT book reader, I generally try not to talk to them about the show - because it's only a matter of time.

I know one similar. She told me its basically due to her brother who constantly used to spoil every movie in her childhood and made it an habit for her to read reviews/plots before even thinking about going for a movie. I wonder the type of satisfaction one gets by doing this.

I tried to avoid every social media during monday to avoid and potential spoilers. But couldn't possibly not turn up in office and even there people are in constant fix to spoil GOT . It also doesn't help that i take clues from every little thing and draw my own conclusion which turns out to be true. Like one of the book readers in office constantly would pick an opportunity to mention Father's Day. By doing this although not explicitly spoiling anything made it extremely apparent what could have happened in the last episode.

You won't be friends with someone because they might spoil a tv show? that's pathetic.

That isn't anal, it is sensible. I think people who repeatedly spoil things are very thick indeed. How hard is it to tell the difference between the past and the future?

The worst spoiler I was on the wrong end of was when United beat Barca 3-0 in the QF of the Cup Winners Cup against Barca in 84. I had to work that night and couldn't go to the game (assume I could have got a ticket) so I was keen not to know the score as it was being shown on delay soon after the game ended. I managed to get home without knowing the score by avoiding pubs and even not looking at the road as I walked home in case I saw happy or sad United fans driving by. I sat down, turned the telly on and soon after kickoff Norman Whiteside hit the bar and my flatmate said "They'd have won 4-0 if that had gone in". Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrghhh.

To be fair my flatmate isn't thick - far from it. She just had no idea what was going as she wasn't a football fan and does have a tendency to have her head in the clouds.

Supposedly there was almost a brawl at the bookstore in the local mall a few weeks ago. I say supposedly because I got the story second hand. But seems a book talk was going on and the books in question being talked about were the ASOIAF series. Obviously some things came up that had not been covered yet by the TV show and some patron of the store who was not there for the book talk overheard it and got upset as they were a TV show watcher.

Now the story I was told has the patron and one of the people there for the book talk almost coming to blows, a bit of pushing and many rude obscene names about each others mother being thrown about.

Probably one of those stories that is either greatly exaggerated or completely made up. But if true shows how difficult avoiding spoilers really can be.

My missus actually checks Wikipedia in the cinema while we watch movies. It does my head in more than it should.

 Quality, reminds me of the Adventures of Superman on Saturdays on the BBC.

I'm really looking forward to Varys and Tyrion just having conversations. The few times they've been on screen together I've watched intently.

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry late on this, only got round to watching the final episode there last night! Something happening in brazil side tracked me.

Anyways, gotta say I'm gutted Tywin is killed off (or is he?)... I'm not a book reader. I have a feeling he might well still be alive, I can see his death being played out with dramatic effect here. Basically on his death bed and chaos surrounding kings landing, Cersei will turn Jamie I feel and he will be the patriach now of the Lannisters going forward. Not giving up on that miserable olde bastard just yet!!

GRRM what are you thinking? The Hound? Christ on a bike! One of the best characters in the show. We've lost the 3 best villians in the show this season, for me he really needs some new cast to fill out the story lines (he probably does)... But to lose Joffery, Tywin and the hound all so soon is incredible.

Going into the new season I'm not sure who steps up as the lead villian, Cersei it would appear? The Mountain? Please don't let it be Baelish! Gillen is a fairly terrible actor for me and his accent changes with every sentence!

The old fart in the tree was very gandalf like, enjoyed the skeletons bit... great to see some action put into Brans story, but as soon as it started it was over by some weird kid.

They really dragged out the story arc of Arya, when she was given that coin two fn seasons back you knew it would end up with her on a ship going to Bravos to be trained by him as an assassin. 20 Episodes later she is only on the boat!

The Hound wasn't a villain this season

anti hero I suppose suits better... he neither sided with the stories "good guys" or villians. Basically done his own thing pretty much, self serving.

You get the idea though, there's a massive gaping hole now due to GRRM going into Maximum over kill!

I also just finished season 4 myself, I have to say I enjoyed it more than season 3 that I found utterly boring. Maybe it was due to us watching the episodes in a bulk and not week after week, but I think it was mainly that this season was just better overall than the previous one. Daenerys's story was still pretty dull, as were some other ones, but the Red Viper was excellent and it was a shame he died at the end of the season.

 He clearly didn't die.

Oberyn is fine.

Errrrm, the withdrawal got too much for me. I just downloaded the B, double O, K's. It's too late for me but save yourselves!!!

I was just going to do the same actually!

If anything this season, as absolutely incredible as it was...it has numerous plot holes in it I feel, it feels like it is skipping parts that leave the viewer asking lots of questions. I think the books will fill in those little gaps :)
