Television Game of Thrones (TV) • The watch has ended

I was just going to do the same actually!

If anything this season, as absolutely incredible as it was...it has numerous plot holes in it I feel, it feels like it is skipping parts that leave the viewer asking lots of questions. I think the books will fill in those little gaps :)
Doubt I'll go any further than the series is up to, but it's a time filler until next year.

I've actually no fn idea at all about the books, so I'll have to do my research, if the books turn out better than the TV series I might stick with them.... its great filler until next year.......... next...year!!! :wenger:

Errrrm, the withdrawal got too much for me. I just downloaded the B, double O, K's. It's too late for me but save yourselves!!!

I bought them a month or two ago when I was pissed catching up on the show. Think I'll start them after the World Cup.

My GF has read them and won't tell me squat, mainly because she loves my reactions.

I said the same about reading the books, but apparently this season has blurred the lines more than most so she has advised me not to read past the first couple of books really.

so it was rape?

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry late on this, only got round to watching the final episode there last night! Something happening in brazil side tracked me.

Anyways, gotta say I'm gutted Tywin is killed off (or is he?)... I'm not a book reader. I have a feeling he might well still be alive, I can see his death being played out with dramatic effect here. Basically on his death bed and chaos surrounding kings landing, Cersei will turn Jamie I feel and he will be the patriach now of the Lannisters going forward. Not giving up on that miserable olde bastard just yet!!

GRRM what are you thinking? The Hound? Christ on a bike! One of the best characters in the show. We've lost the 3 best villians in the show this season, for me he really needs some new cast to fill out the story lines (he probably does)... But to lose Joffery, Tywin and the hound all so soon is incredible.

Going into the new season I'm not sure who steps up as the lead villian, Cersei it would appear? The Mountain? Please don't let it be Baelish! Gillen is a fairly terrible actor for me and his accent changes with every sentence!

The old fart in the tree was very gandalf like, enjoyed the skeletons bit... great to see some action put into Brans story, but as soon as it started it was over by some weird kid.

They really dragged out the story arc of Arya, when she was given that coin two fn seasons back you knew it would end up with her on a ship going to Bravos to be trained by him as an assassin. 20 Episodes later she is only on the boat!
Yeah I thought Joffrey left a big hole which wasn't filled in the rest of the season. Both Hound and Tywin gone as well, really few quality characters left at the moment.

Just finished the season. Had three episodes to watch and planned to cram them all into my night off last week, but the first one was The Mountain and the Viper and... I'm sure you all know... :(

Plucked up the courage to finish the season this afternoon, and felt rather unaffected by the final two episodes. I guess a combination of there only being one episode after Season 3's Red Wedding and Oberyn trying on a pair of glove shaped spectacles and blowing Series 4's load early was to blame and made my expectations too high.

Can't wait for Season 5, though!

Just finished the 4th season. I thought it was much better than the 3rd. It cut back on the dreary romances and we were left only with the interesting Stark characters. It's still a bit aimless at times and the moralising by the mother of dragon's still strikes me as dumb, but I do like the unruly dragon element that was introduced. The wedding and everything surrounding Tyrion was pretty great, even if the death of 'him' was a little anticlimactic - given that they spent 3 seasons building him as the ultimate pantomime villain. The Ayra story is still my favourite, shame about The Hound. The production values seem to be increasing exponentially. I was ready to pack it in at the end of the 3rd but I'll definitely be back for the next season. I'd like to get a sense of finality sometime soon though and what's with that imminent Winter, they've been forecasting that forever.

Winter
is coming!

A friend was telling me he's been watching this and has gotten to the bit where Ned was executed. Naturally, it was a shock for him, but it's alright because he expects Robb to emerge as the main character of the whole thing in the long term as he tries to avenge his dad as a fan favourite.

Game of Thrones actor JJ Murphy dies days after filming part

JJ Murphy collapsed and died on Friday and tributes to him have been paid right across the theatre, TV and film industry

BY IVAN LITTLE – 11 AUGUST 2014

A veteran Northern Ireland actor has died just four days after filming his first scenes in the hugely successful TV series Game of Thrones.

Eighty-six-year-old JJ Murphy, who also had a role in the soon-to-be-released Dracula movie, collapsed and died on Friday and tributes to him have been paid right across the theatre, TV and film industry.

Mr Murphy had been cast at the end of last month as Ser Denys Mallister, the oldest member of the Night's Watch in the hit HBO series and was due to shoot more scenes shortly.

He had told friends he was excited to be working on the series which is currently shooting its fifth season in Northern Ireland.

It's not clear if American producers will now re-cast the part or order a rewrite of the scenes which Mr Murphy had been due to film.

The big budget Dracula Untold film which was shot in Northern Ireland also featured Mr Murphy playing the role of a village elder and he also had a part in the CBBC series The Sparticle Mystery.

His other film credits included Mickybo and Me, Cal and Angela's Ashes.

But he was probably best known as a theatre actor, having trained with the Ulster Group Theatre School in 1948.

He worked for many years at the Lyric Theatre in Belfast where internationally renowned actors like Liam Neeson and Ciaran Hinds learned their craft alongside him.

Mr Murphy was also a long standing member of Equity, the actors' trade union.

Actress Maggie Cronin, who was an Equity colleague, said of Mr Murphy: "His passion for theatre, for the welfare and betterment of actors and those who worked in the performing arts was always there. It was an integral part of the man."

Writer Damian Gorman, who worked with Mr Murphy, said: "He was a lovely man and a lovely actor."

Director Paula McFetridge from the award-winning Kabosh Theatre Company in Belfast tweeted that Mr Murphy's death was a sad loss. "He was a great actor and a gentleman."

Mr Murphy's agent Philip Young of the Independent Agency said he was heartbroken that the "wonderful" JJ Murphy had passed away. He said: "I have never encountered a man with more spirit, passion and love for his craft."

Mr Young said he had received a number of messages of sympathy from HBO executives and from Gary Shore, the director of Dracula Untold. It's understood that the funeral of Mr Murphy, who was a continuity announcer for UTV in the 1980s, will be held in Belfast on Wednesday. He leaves a widow Mary and a grown-up family.

Have a friend catching up on this now. She's midway through season 3, I definitely know how the book wankers felt now.

Cersei's Major 'Game Of Thrones' Nude Scene Is Officially Going To Happen
The Huffington Post | By Bill Bradley Posted: 09/02/2014 2:24 pm EDT Updated: 09/02/2014 2:59 pm EDT

Warning! This post is dark and full of spoilers.

Your prayers have been answered, "Game of Thrones" fans.

After a lot of controversy, Cersei Lannister's big "GoT" scene is going to happen after all, thanks to a compromise with Croatian film commissioners.

Initially, the film commission, which TMZ reports is heavily influenced by the local church, wouldn't create permits for a pivotal scene in which Cersei is stripped and shamed by the High Septon because it would require actress Lena Headey to get naked in an actual church in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The scene was too important to be cut, so the two sides have now reached a compromise.

HBO will be allowed to film Cersei walking naked in the streets as long as she doesn't set foot in the place of worship. In addition, all nude scenes inside the church will now be shot on a fake set instead.

It's a solution that should please the old gods and the new (and Jaime of course).

I was about to post this but wasn't sure if it constituted a spoiler. I've tried not to read the content of the article, but for the sake of others you might want to stick spoiler tags around it.

There's something really milftastic about Lena Headey.

The context which is referenced is definitely a spoiler. Hell, it says so right at the start of the article.
